, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kaviani Baghbadorani, Eaman (Author) ; Jahangir, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays, electrical energy is a necessity and the use of intelligent power equipment is expanding. Of course, having a protocol for communicating between such equipment is not only useful but sometimes mandatory. In the past, each equipment manufacturer used its own method for communication, hence, the "IEC 61850" standard was proposed as a solution to solve the problem of communication between different equipment. In this research, we intend to design a tester to perform a performance test with for GOOSE messages. These messages are based on the IEC 61850 data set and have the ability to quickly and securely distribute input and output values at the system level, which are transmitted by a...

    Abstract
The main objective of this research is to provide an estimation of the amount of rent in Iran as an oil economy. First by reviewing recent studies, the concept of rent was extracted and the rent measuring indexes were assessed. Having considered the four categories of rent in Iran, budgetary rent, interest rent, import rent and energy rent, the amount of rent in Iran’s economy during (1369:1-1386:4) was estimated. Results show a considerable increase of rent during (1369:1-1372:4) & (1384:1-1386:4). In the next section of this study the long run and short run relationship between rent and some of the macro economic variables was estimated. In this section the co-movement of rent trend with...

Localization of Active Aerial Targets Using Targets with Known Location

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kaviani, Saber (Author) ; Behnia, Feridoon (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Localization of radio, acoustic and vibration wave’s sources by passive systems has many applications in positioning systems, navigation systems, wireless sensor networks, defense, security, and geophysics. RSS, AOA, TDOA, and FDOA are some of the techniques available for passive localization. The performance of TDOA/FDOA techniques does not degrade with distance and multipath, but it may suffer from poor performance for narrowband signals. On the other hand, FDOA technique requires narrowband signals. Thus, the combination of TDOA and FDOA can be suitable for a much wider range of sources. In addition, the TDOA/FDOA method can provide more accurate interference source localization compared...

Multi-depot Vehicle Routing Using Predictive Distributed Cooperative Method

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rahimi Baghbadorani, Reza (Author) ; Haeri, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Due to conspicuous increases in shopping and goods transportation in this unbridled world, a significant part of companies’ final interest and final cost are related to their distributions of goods. Meanwhile, because of practical constraints of service hours and service distances, logistics companies usually build multiple depots to serve a great number of dispersed customers. Hence, multi-depot vehicle routing problems (MDVRP) win more and more engineers’ and companies’ attention to thrift their cost by using optimization methods. Considering NP-hardness of MDVRP and the lack of optimal solution derived by heuristic and meta-heuristic approaches in the large scale problems, in this...

    A Survey Of Topological,Algebraic And C ∗-Algebraic K-Theory

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Fathi Baghbadorani, Ali (Author) ; Fanai, Hamidreza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis we study three versions of K−theory. The most well-known vesrsion is topological K−theory, a generalization of Grothendieck works on algebraic varieties to the topological setting by Atyiah and Hirzebruch. Since its birth it has been an indespensible tool in topology, differential geometry and index theory. In the early 1970s C∗−algebraic version of K−theory introduced through associating two abelian groups,K0(A)and K1(A)to a C∗−algebra like A. These functors proved to be a powerful machine, making it possible to calculate the K−theory of a great many C∗−algebras. At last, algebraic K−theory is dealig with linear algebra over a ring R by associating it, a sequence of abelian...

Heegaard Floer Homology and the Topology of Three Manifolds

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Sheikh Alishahi, Akram (Author) ; Bahraini, Alireza (Supervisor) ; Eftekhary, Eaman (Supervisor)
    Abstract
We introduce a refinement of the Ozsváth-Szabó complex associated by Juhász [8] to a balanced sutured manifold (X; ). An algebra A is associated to the boundary of a sutured manifold. For a fixed class s of a Spinc structure over the manifold X, which is obtained from X by filling out the sutures, the Ozsváth-Szabó chain complex CF(X; ; s) is then defined as a chain complex with coefficients in A and filtered by the relative Spinc classes in Spinc(X; ). The filtered chain homotopy type of this chain complex is an invariant of (X; ) and the Spinc class s 2 Spinc(X). The construction generalizes the construction of Juhász. It plays the role of CF (X; s) when X is a closed three-manifold,...

    Abstract
Vehicle routing problem is one of the complex and NP-hard problems, which plays a crucial role in this hectic world regarding people's lifestyle. Nowadays, many people provide their stuff online, so a logistic problem has been outstripped for companies to reduce their transportation costs. In this article, a novel approach has been introduced, which can solve the multi-depot vehicle routing problem in shorter time. By using clustering and decomposing the main problem into smaller ones, solution time has been dropped dramatically. In addition, this approach obtains a reasonable cost, which can be considered as fuel consumption, distance, or so forth. This method could reduce the solution time...

    Abstract
Traffic density estimation plays an integral role in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), using which provides important information for signal control and effective traffic management. In this paper, we present a new framework for traffic density estimation based on topic model, which is an unsupervised model. This framework uses a set of visual features without any need to individual vehicle detection and tracking, and discovers the motion patterns automatically in traffic scenes by using topic model. Then, likelihood value allocated to each video clip enables us to estimate its traffic density. Results on a standard dataset show high classification performance of our proposed...

    Abstract
In this paper, collision of two balls in three dimensions with regard to energy loss and friction is studied. This investigation intends to propose the procedure which can determine the condition of pure sliding, sliding with rolling or sticking, and rolling or sticking at the beginning of contact. Furthermore, the other aim of this research is to suggest the closed-form relation for post-collision angular and linear velocities in which the possibility of three regimes of impact, pure sliding, sliding with rolling, and pure rolling, are considered. In this investigation, viscous Hertz contact force describes the normal interaction force. Moreover, stick regime is not taken into account and...

Heegaard Floer Homology and Degree-One-Maps Between 3-Manifolds

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Bagherifard, Narges (Author) ; Fanai, Hamid Reza (Supervisor) ; Eftekhary, Eaman (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Suppose that K and K^' are knots inside the homology spheres Y and Y^', respectively. Let X=Y(K,K^') be the 3-manifold obtained by splicing the complements of K and K^' and Z be the three-manifold obtained by 0-surgery on K. When Y^' is an L-space, we use Eftekhary's splicing formula to show that the rank of (HF) ̂(X) is bounded below by the rank of (HF) ̂(Y) if τ_(K^' )=0 and is bounded below by rank((HF) ̂(Z))-2 rank((HF) ̂(Y))+1 if τ_(K^' )≠0.

Scour hole depth prediction around pile groups: review, comparison of existing methods, and proposition of a new approach

    , Article Natural Hazards ; Volume 88, Issue 2 , 2017 , Pages 977-1001 ; 0921030X (ISSN) Amini Baghbadorani, D ; Beheshti, A. A ; Ataie Ashtiani, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    2017
    Abstract
A dataset of 365 laboratory tests for scour hole depth (SHD) around pile groups (PGs) under unidirectional aligned flow is compiled, and the performances of the existing equations are comparatively evaluated on the dataset using several statistical indices. A formulation based on a correction of HEC-18 equation provides the best estimate with a correlation factor of 0.58. The test durations of the considered data ranged between 4 and 389 h. A time factor (Kt) is proposed to take into account the temporal variation of the SHD around different PGs. Among the datasets, 51 long-duration experiments are scrutinized to show the temporal variation of scour depth toward equilibrium state. The time...

The role of calcium crosslinking and glycerol plasticizing on the physical and mechanical properties of superabsorbent: Alginate/Quince Seed Gum films

    , Article Journal of Polymer Research ; Volume 30, Issue 1 , 2023 ; 10229760 (ISSN) Abedini, A. A ; Pircheraghi, G ; Kaviani, A ; Sharif University of Technology
Springer Science and Business Media B.V  2023
    Abstract
In this paper, highly absorbent films based on alginate and Quince Seed Gum (QSG) were fabricated using ionic crosslinking. FTIR analysis was conducted to show crosslinking and network formation. The tensile test revealed an increase in crosslinking time and CaCl2 concentration reduced elongation and increased tensile strength and Young's modulus, but glycerol augmented elongation without a substantial effect on mechanical strength. According to the swelling test, (0.5% w/v CaCl2-2 min) was the optimum crosslinking condition and led to a maximum swelling degree (about 1700%). Exceptional swelling resulted from the high number of hydrophilic groups on the surface of QSG and repulsion forces...

Development of Structures based on Chitosan-Quince Seed Gum Polyelectrolyte Complex and Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery Application

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Kaviani, Alireza (Author) ; Pircheraghi, Gholamreza (Supervisor) ; Bagheri, Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Polyelectrolyte complexes based on polysaccharides have attracted the attention of researchers due to their potential for use in advanced industries. One of the most widely used cationic polysaccharides is chitosan. However, chitosan alone limits applications for smart and sustainable drug delivery due to uncontrolled degradation. For this reason, combining chitosan with another polyelectrolyte and forming a polyelectrolyte complex due to electrostatic interaction has been proposed as a solution. In the first phase of this dissertation, the effects of mixing ratio and concentration of Chitosan and Quince seed gum (QSG) on the physical and rheological properties of chitosan-QSG...
