    Development of Microextraction Methods
for the Trace Determination of Organic Compounds in Biological and Environmental Media

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Khalilian, Faezeh (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The approach of this thesis is to develop and simplify robust microextraction techniques and apply these developed methods to real samples and complex matrices. Firstly, a modified solvent microextraction with back extraction method (SME/BE) combined with high performance liquid chromatography and fluorescence detection (HPLC-FD) was developed for the determination of citalopram in human plasma. Extraction process was performed in a home-made total glass vial without using a teflon ring, usually employed in SME/BE. The evaluation results demonstrated that the calibration curve showed linearity in the range of 1.0–130.0 ng/mL which covers therapeutic window and even lower amounts which is...

    Angle Shear Connectors Capacity

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khalilian, Marzieh (Author) ; Maleki, Shervin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The steel-concrete composite beams are increasingly used in bridge and building construction in recent years. A shear connection between the steel and concrete should be provided to effectively transfer the shear force and to make the two materials act as a single unit. The mechanical shear connectors provide this means. They are the essential component of any composite beam system. Many studies have been performed on shear connectors and many different steel shapes have been suggested for connectors. The steel studs and channels are the most popular code accepted connectors. However, economic considerations continue to motivate the development of new products.

Estimation of data hiding capacity of digital video based on human visual model in temporal domain

, Article 2nd International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems, ICSPCS 2008, Gold Coast, QLD, 15 December 2008 through 17 December 2008 ; April , 2008 ; 9781424442423 (ISBN) Khalilian, H ; Ghaemmaghami, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
A new approach to evaluation of the data hiding capacity of digital video is presented in this paper. The paper reconsiders the conventional capacity estimation algorithms, in which the video signal is taken as a sequence of still images, that result in an exaggerated upper bound of hiding capacity or a much higher value than the actual embedding capacity. The proposed method for the capacity estimation is based on the human visual model in temporal domain, which leads to a more realistic, tighter bound for video capacity. In this method, according to temporal characteristic of every frame, a visibility based coefficient is extracted that is used to determine the hiding capacity. The maximum...

A Task Assignment Method to Reduce Aging in Multi-core Processors

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Saadatmand, Faezeh Sadat (Author) ; Miremadi, Ghassem (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Reducing the size of transistors has dramatically increased the impacts of NBTI, HCI, and EM phenomena in comparison with decade ago. These phenomena are able to have influence on properties of different parts of a chip to make it changed gradually; including threshold voltage of a transistor and electrical conductivity of interconnections. These changes are known as the aging of a transistors that diminish the performance and reliability of a chip. A common reason that plays a significant role in all these phenomena is temperature. The temperature becomes more important when the power density increases per unit area due to decreased size of transistors, which is a trend in multi-core...

Optimum Design of Air Jet Nozzle Preventing Hot Solid Particles Deposition on the Furnace Wall Using Numerical Simulation of Gas-Particle Two-Phase Flow

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseini, Faezeh Sadat (Author) ; Darbandi, Masoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Deposition of solid particles present in the process air on the walls of furnaces is one of the challenges in industries. This phenomenon has various causes. For example, in a furnace, the temperature of particles increases as they pass in front of the furnace burners, and due to the softening of the particles, their chances of deposition increase when they collide with the walls. Over time, with the growth of deposited particle layers on the combustion chamber walls, the performance of the combustion system gradually becomes impaired. present research aims to design air jets intersecting with the process air path, with the purpose of reducing the temperature of particles prone to deposition...

    Abstract
Nowadays users of the Web are encouraged to generate content on the Web by themselves. Weblogs are the most popular tools to do this. In fact Weblogs are one kind of social networks and they are one of the most important components in Web 2.0. Blogs are often situated within a Blog community of similar interest. These communities can be a useful way for readers to access space slice of millions of Weblogs. In this paper we introduce a new algorithm to infer communities based on their link structure. This algorithm uses self organizing maps to identify communities among Weblogs. The link pattern of each Weblog is the input for SOM. © 2007 IADIS

An Analysis of Oil Revenues and Monetary and Financial Policies on Iran's Long-term Economic Growth

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mir Jafari, Faezeh Sadat (Author) ; Kianfar, Farhad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In many papers, GDP is used as a measure of economic growth, which is shown to possess a nonlinear structure. The study focuses on the nonlinear Granger causality between liquidity, government spending, oil revenues and economic growth by markov-switching vector autoregressive and markov- switching Granger causality approach for the period of 1369-1397 for Iran. The empirical results from MSAI(2)-VAR(4) suggest that Oil revenues and government spending have a significant impact on economic growth in both regimes. Also, markov- switching Granger causality results are quite different from the traditional Granger causality results, that suggests the nonlinear Granger causality has more...

    Abstract
Reflection appears as a layer that partly covers the original image. This phenomenon may cause failure in extracting information from images of reflecting objects. This work presents an automated technique for determining of reflection area as well as its severity to define reliability of extracted information. This is done by analyzing histogram and objects found in the image. We present a strong detector based on combining the results of these two procedures. We presented new reflection detection algorithm and a new method to find a good threshold value for converting any image into a binary image. The average reflection detection accuracy of the proposed algorithm is more than 95% for...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Soltani Nejad, Mohammad (Author) ; Sadrnezhaad, Khatiboleslam (Supervisor) ; Farzami, Faezeh ($item.subfieldsMap.e)
    Abstract
In this study, at first the V2O5 spent catalysts were characterized. The aim was to identifying whether these catalyst may be regenerated. Then, for feasibility study of them, three methods were applied: washing, diffusion and milling the spent catalysts for their subsequent reproduction. A variety of techniques such as XRD, XRF, AAS, TPR and TPO were applied in order to identify factors contributing in vanadium pentoxide catalysts deactivation. The results showed that approximately all of pollutants caused their performance deterioration, while they still have some active phases. Then, the polluted catalysts were washed (their yield increased from 43% to 72.2%). In the underside of the...

    Abstract
A head-space solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) method coupled to GC-MS was developed to extract fentanyl from human plasma. The protein binding was reduced by acidification and, eventually, the sample was deproteinized with trichloroacetic acid. The parameters influencing adsorption (extraction time, temperature, pH and salt addition) and desorption (desorption time and temperature) of the analyte on the fibre were investigated and validated for method development. The developed method proved to be rapid, simple, easy and inexpensive and offers high sensitivity and reproducibility. Linear range was obtained from 0.1 ng/ml to 2 μg/ml. The limit of detection was 0.03 ng/ml while an...

Digital video watermarking in 3-D ridgelet domain

    , Article 11th International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology, ICACT 2009, Phoenix Park, 15 February 2009 through 18 February 2009 ; Volume 3 , 2009 , Pages 1643-1646 ; 17389445 (ISSN); 9788955191387 (ISBN) Khalilian, H ; Ghaemmaghami, S ; Omidyeganeh, M ; IEEE Communications Society, IEEE ComSoc ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
A new method for digital video watermarking is presented in this paper. For data embedding we use 3-D ridgelet domain introduced by Helbert. The redundancy of this transform is substantial, so extraction of the hidden data is impossible in this domain. To overcome this problem, we introduce a modified ridgelet transform with little redundancy, and embed watermark in this domain. Experimental results show that this scheme is robust against collusion attack, frame cropping, frame swapping, frame dropping, noise attack and the MJPEG (Motion JPEG) compression
