    Cylindrical solutions in braneworld gravity

    Abstract
    In this article we investigate exact cylindrically symmetric solutions to the modified Einstein field equations in the braneworld gravity scenarios. It is shown that for the special choice of the equation of state 2U+P=0 for the dark energy and dark pressure, the solutions found could be considered formally as solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations in 4-D general relativity. © 2005 The American Physical Society  

    Pressureless sintering of ZrB 2 ceramics codoped with TiC and graphite

    Abstract
    In this research, the pressureless sintering of ZrB 2 composites were studied to obtain the highest densification and investigate the effects of TiC (2–10% wt) and graphite (1–2% wt) additives on the sinterability. The results showed that by adding TiC, the porosity and water absorption of the samples decreased, resulting in an increase in the density of the samples up to ~98% of the theoretical density. The addition of graphite and TiC reduced the surface oxide layers, improved the density and prevented the grain growth.     Abstract
    The combined effects of SiC and carbon additives on the densification, structure and characteristics of pressureless sintered ZrB2-SiC ceramic composites were studied. The ZrB2-SiC (1-10wt%) composite powders were mixed by 1-2wt% carbon. The prepared powder mixtures were then cold-consolidated and sintered in argon environment in the temperature range of 1800-2100°C for 2h. The constituted phases and microstructural evolutions were studied using x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy dispersive x-ray detector.     Abstract
    We present an analytical method to obtain an expression for electron transmission through an array of disordered nanorings (ADNRs) sandwiched between two semi-infinite metallic leads in different lead-ring coupling strengths. Our approach is based on the nearest-neighbor tight-binding approximation and transfer matrix method. First, we derive an analytical formula for electron transmission across the system. Next, we apply our approach to study of the electron transport in a perfect double nanoring (PDNR) and design a NOR gate using the magnetic fluxes inputs.     Abstract
    Epoxy-clay nanocomposites were prepared using silane modified montmorillonite. The clay was first purified using a 1-inch hydrocyclon apparatus. The purified clay was modified with various amounts of (γ)-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane as a modifier. The synthesized organoclay was mixed and swollen by a mixture of epoxy resin and stoichiometric amount of curing agent at different temperature, mixing time and agitation. Finally, the compounds were cured in an oven at 90 °C for 2 h. The nanostructure materials were characterized using X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy.     Abstract
    A nanoscale logic NOR gate has been theoretically designed by magnetic flux inputs in a Z-shaped graphene nanoribbon composed of an armchair ribbon device sandwiched between two semi-infinite metallic zigzag ribbon leads. The calculations are based on the tight-binding model and iterative Green's function method, in which the conductance as well as current-voltage characteristics of the nanosystem are calculated, numerically. We show that the current and conductance are highly sensitive to both the magnetic fluxes subject to the device and the size of the system. Our results may have important applications for building blocks in the nanoelectronic devices based on graphene nanoribbons

    Abstract
    This work deals with the preparation of epoxy-clay nanocomposites. The results show that the mechanical properties of nanocomposites depend on their compatibility, the epoxy resin used and the purity of the nanoclay. The used bentonite was purified and the effects of the organoclay synthesis and various additives on its characteristics were evaluated. X-ray Diffraction (XRD), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) were used to analyze the microstructure and the phase composition of the nanoclay.     Using multiple antennas at the transmit and receive sides of a passive radar brings both the benefits of MIMO radar and passive radar. However one of the obstacles arisen in such configuration is the receive antennas placement in proper positions so that the radar performance is improved.     In this paper, we consider an integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system with wireless power transfer (WPT) where an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based radar serves a group of energy-limited communication users in addition to its sensing functionality.
