Abstract
A variable air volume (VAV) air handling system can significantly reduce fan power under partial load conditions. The focus of this study is developing a modeling program to predict the potential energy saving by the secondary HVAC system strategies. Comprehensive steady-state models are established to describe the energy performance of different control strategies for secondary HVAC systems. With building loads, minimum fresh air flow rate, pressure losses, supply air temperature control, dampers control and coil characteristic as inputs, the objectives were to develop a simulation model to evaluate performance of an air handling system. The potential energy savings of constant air volume...

Abstract
Combined cooling, heat, and power (CCHP) system offers numerous potential advantages for the supply of energy to residential buildings in the sense of improved energy efficiency and reduced environmental burdens. To realize the potential for being more beneficial, however, such systems must reduce total costs relative to conventional systems. In this study, a linear programming optimization model was presented for optimum planning and sizing of CCHP systems. The purpose of the model is to give the design of the CCHP system by considering electrical chiller and absorption chiller simultaneously in economic viewpoint. A numerical study was conducted in Tehran to evaluate the CCHP system model....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Sattari, Sorena (Supervisor)
Abstract
In the building, can be used variaty of Heating, Ventilating and Air conditioning systems. Among the items that affect to select the hvac system can be pointed to building thermal demand and system energy consumpsion. simulation of this systems is one of the ways that can compare hvac systems in the building. according to Iran needs for preparation of software for optimization of energy carriers consumption in building proportional with existing matrials and equipment in the country, in this research has been tried methodology and modeling of hvac systems in the way developed that producted software is capable simply and practical for engineers be operational in a residential unit. In realy...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Rouhani, Shahin (Supervisor) ; Roudi, Yaser (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
In many biological populations, information about environmental conditions is acquired collectively, through information sharing among individuals, by exchanging signals. In order to achieve a better understanding of such systems, using methods borrowed from statistical physics, we introduce two mathematical models. First, a collective decision making model, for a community of individuals residing on a communication network, who live in an uncertain environment, in which individuals try to collectively find the environmental state. In the second model, a collective movement model, we consider a population of collectively moving individuals, in which individuals try to collectively find and...
Imaging Method To Detect Low Probability of Intercept Radars
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Nayebi, Mohammad Mahdi (Supervisor) ; Norouzi, Yaser (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
In this thesis, a new passive method suitable for Geolocating LPI radars is introduced. The method uses two Electronic Support (ES) receivers placed on a fast moving platform (e.g., an airplane or a satellite). The proposed method has a high processing gain, which makes it highly suitable for very weak LPI signals. The processing gain of the method was analytically derived and illustrated with simulation to determine if the proposed method can detect LPI radars in much lower SNRs compared to regular time-frequency LPI detection methods. Also, the resolution of the proposed method in both range and cross-range direction in radar location finding was analyzed. Furthurmore, the effect of the...
