Abstract
Effect of deformation path change on the static strain aging of low carbon steel was studied in this work. In the first stage, strip samples were subjected to cold rolling processes under different paths with the same total reduction in thickness while the deformation behaviors of the rolled samples were also evaluated using a mathematical analysis. An examination of the influence of rolling path change on the static recrystallization behavior of commercial purity aluminum was performed in the present work. Aluminum strips were cold rolled to a reduction of 50 % under various rolling sequences, i.e. single-pass, double-pass from one direction and with reverse directions, and were then annealed in 290 °C for different durations, while mechanical evaluations such as hardness and tensile tests were used to study the mechanical response of cold deformed and annealed samples. An integrated mathematical model was developed to study the thermo-mechanical behavior of strips and work-rolls during warm rolling process of steels. A two-dimensional finite element analysis was first employed to solve for the thermo-mechanical response of the rolled strip under steady-state conditions. In the present research, the effect of residual stress distribution on the static strain aging (SSA) phenomenon in cold rolled steel was investigated. A three-dimensional model was employed to evaluate the residual stress distributions within the rolled strips, and hole drilling experiments were also performed to verify the data obtained from the mathematical model. An investigation was performed on the static strain aging behavior of warm-rolled low carbon steel during a nearly 1-year aging period, from the view point concerning with influence of changing the deformation speed and cooling media. Mechanical response of the examined material during aging period was evaluated through variations occurred in strength and hardness of the warm-deformed steel. An integrated model based on finite-element method has been proposed to examine the mechanical and thermal responses of strips and work-rolls in tandem and reverse cold rolling operations. Experiments of natural convection over a vertical flat plate with constant heat flux in water-based nanofluids with Ag and TiO2 nanoparticles were performed. In this study, failure of a high pressure economizer tube of a boiler used in gas-Mazut combined cycle power plants was studied. Failure analysis of the tube was accomplished by taking into account visual inspection, thickness measurement, and hardness testing as well as microstructural observations using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and x-ray diffraction (XRD). Optical microscopy images indicate that there is no phase transformation during service, and ferrite-pearlite remained. Abstract
Symmetric T junctions have been used widely in microfluidics to generate equal-sized microdroplets, which are applicable in drug delivery systems. A newly proposed method for generating unequal-size microdroplets at a T junction is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Asymmetric T junctions with branches of identical lengths and different cross-sections are utilized for this aim. A novel equation for the critical breakup of droplets at asymmetric T junctions and one for determining the breakup point of droplets are developed.
