    , Article Desalination and Water Treatment ; Volume 57, Issue 46 , 2016 , Pages 22029-22038 ; 19443994 (ISSN) Koohestani, H ; Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Sharif University of Technology
    Taylor and Francis Inc  2016
    Abstract
In this study, the effect of adding 5–12.5 wt% CuO to TiO2 on photocatalytic properties of the nano-composite TiO2/CuO was investigated. The products were characterized by X-ray diffractometer, SEM, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), and DRS. BET-specific surface area of the TiO2/CuO composites was lower than that of the pure TiO2. Incorporation of CuO into TiO2 shifted absorption spectra to the visible region. As the CuO content increased from 0 to 12.5%, a clear decrease in optical band gap from 2.95 to 2.30 eV was observed. The photocatalytic performance was determined by methyl orange degradation and cyanide photo-oxidation under ultraviolet irradiation. However, the excessive incorporation...

    Abstract
Photocatalysts that are used for waste water treatment are often suspended in the waste water during processing and then must be removed from the water after treatment. To reduce the post-degradation expenses and time, separation is facilitated by an immobilization process. The effect of immobilized TiO2 geometries on the photocatalytic behavior of the photocatalyst is investigated in this work. Powder, fiber, film, and network-shaped TiO2 nanocatalysts were produced by using different templates. The cellulose fiber and ceramic templates were used as substrates for fiber and film/network geometry production. The products were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD),...

    Abstract
In this work, the effect of addition of ZrO2 to TiO2 and catalyst geometry on photocatalytic properties of the nanocomposite TiO2/ZrO2 was investigated. The traditional use of powdery photocatalyst for the degradation of organic compounds has post-treatment problems which means much higher time and costs. A novel method to minimize these problems is immobilization by insertion onto an inert substrate. Several geometries of TiO2–10%ZrO2 (T-10Z) nano-photocatalysts (powder, fiber, film, and network-shaped) were produced using different templates. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller, and diffuse reflectance...

    Abstract
In typical photocatalytic processes slurry reactors are used in which catalyst particles have to be separated from the solution after the process ends which means much higher time and costs. Hence, immobilizing process is carried out on the catalyst to overcome this problem. In this work, fiber and network geometries were produced by particle precipitation on substrates. The obtained structures were characterized by XRD, SEM, and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analyses. Photocatalytic performance of the samples was investigated by methyl orange degradation and also by hydrogen generation from water/methanol splitting. From the SEM images, the size range of the TiO2 particles in the network...

    Abstract
Self-propagating exothermic reactions during mechanical milling of FeCl 3/CoCl 2 mixture together with sodium seeds resulted in formation of Fe 50Co 50 nanoparticles. Highly exothermic reactions resulted in temperature raise and formation of Fe 50Co 50 phase within the first 5min; however Fe 50Co 50 single-phase was obtained after 30min of milling. The products were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, TEM and VSM. Obtained results showed that both milling time and NaCl salt matrix affected the size, morphology, microstructure and magnetic properties of the produced particles

    Abstract
In this paper we explore the existence of periodic solutions of a nonautonomous semi-ratio-dependent predator-prey dynamical system with functional responses on time scales. To illustrate the utility of this work, we should mention that, in our results this system with a large class of monotone functional responses, always has at least one periodic solution. For instance, this system with some celebrated functional responses such as Holling type-II (or Michaelis-Menten), Holling type-III, Ivlev, mx (Holling type I), sigmoidal [e.g., Real and mx2/((A + x)(B +x))] and some other monotone functions, has always at least one ω-periodic solution. Besides, for some well-known functional responses...
