Abstract
This paper gives the design and analysis approaches for the class-E power amplifier with a shunt inductor under the nominal conditions, i.e., zero-current switching (ZCS) and zero-current derivative switching (ZCDS), with taking into account the MOSFET nonlinear output parasitic capacitance at any duty ratio. Although, the class-E ZCS/ZCDS conditions obtained high-efficiency, but the switch-current waveform affected by the slope of the voltage across the MOSFET nonlinear drain-to-source parasitic capacitance during the switch-off state, which restricted the operating frequency. On the other hand, the duty ratio is an adjustment parameter to obtain high-frequency operation. Therefore, the...

Abstract
Embedded systems have time and energy constraints; so, they use scratchpad memory (SPM) as on-chip memory to replace cache. SRAMs low access latency makes it an excellent choice for on-chip memory, but SRAM has a low density and high static power consumption. Non-volatile memories (NVMs) spend high energy and time regarding the write operation while they have the benefits of high density and low static power. Therefore, a compound on-chip memory, which exploits the advantages of SRAM and NVM, could elevate the energy and time efficiency. In this research, we suggested RIDE a compound SPM and data allocation strategy consisting of SRAM and racetrack memory (RTM) to improve both energy usage...
An efficient content-based video coding method for distance learning applications
, Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 16, Issue 2 D , 2009 , Pages 85-103 ; 10263098 (ISSN) ; Bagheri, M ; Darabi, A. A ; Kasaei, S ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
This paper presents a novel method for cooperative educational dissemination systems. Taking into consideration the inherent characteristics of distance learning video streams (existence of a few slow moving objects in a classroom), we have proposed a novel content-based video coding method that is very efficient at low bitrate channels. On the encoding side, we have applied a background subtraction algorithm for motion segmentation using a novel statistical background modeling approach. At each frame, the moving objects are extrapolated with a rectangular model and tracked frame by frame (which forms the only data needed to be sent over the channel). On the decoding side, we have used a new...

Abstract
This paper presents two new space time block codes (STBCs) with quasi orthogonal structure for an open loop multi-input single-output (MISO) systems. These two codes have been designed to transmit from three or four antennas at the transmitter and be given to one antenna at the receiver. In this paper first, the proposed codes are introduced and their structures are investigated. This is followed by the demonstration of how the decoder decodes half of transmitted symbols independent of the other half. The last part of this paper discusses the simulation results, makes performance comparison against other popular approaches and concludes that the proposed solutions offer superiority
Numerical study of forced convective heat transfer of nanofluids: comparison of different approaches
, Article International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer ; Volume 37, Issue 1 , 2010 , Pages 74-78 ; 07351933 (ISSN) ; Saboohi, Y ; Rashidi, A. M ; Sharif University of Technology
2010
Abstract
Forced convective of a nanofluid that consists of water and Al2O3 in horizontal tubes has been studied numerically. Computed results were validated with existing well established correlation. Two-phase Eulerian model has been implemented for the first time to study such a flow field. A single-phase model and two-phase mixture model formulations were also used for comparison. The comparison of calculated results with experimental values shows that the mixture model is more precise. It is illustrated that the single-phase model and the two-phase Eulerian model underestimates the Nusselt number. Effects of nanoparticles concentration on the thermal parameters are also discussed
Floating bulk cascode Class-E power amplifier

Abstract
In this brief, the switching behavior of the cascode topology is improved through the floating bulk (FB) technique. Although the cascode structure has the advantage of reducing voltage stress on transistors, its parasitic elements increase power loss. The FB technique has been proposed to alleviate the power loss in the cascode class-E PA topology which results in enhancement of power added efficiency (PAE). In this method, the bulk of the common-gate (CG) transistor is connected to the ground through a resistor. As a result, the parasitic capacitances between the drain and source of the CG transistor create a new path of current that accelerates charging of parasitic capacitance at the...

Abstract
In this study, a hybrid of silica nanosphere/multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) has been synthesized by wet chemical method at room temperature. The effect of MWCNTs, silica nanospheres and hybrid nanostructures (80% silica nanosphere/20% MWCNT and 50% silica nanosphere/50% MWCNT) on the thermal conductivity of distilled water has been investigated. SDBS was used as the dispersant to stabilize nanomaterials in the aqueous suspension and its concentration was 1.5 times of the concentration of nanomaterials. As results show, by increasing the concentration of nanomaterials, effective thermal conductivity of nanofluids increased. The most and the least enhancement in the effective thermal...

Abstract
In this paper, a novel method is exposed to improve the performance of the Golden code. In fact, we recommend using the octagonal reconfigurable isolated orthogonal element (ORIOL) antennas instead of a conventional microstrip patch antenna. In order to obtain a dramatic improvement, the ORIOL antenna should be employed in both the transmitter and the receiver sides. Accordingly, in this paper, we recommend space-time-polarization diversity instead of space-time singly; therefore, it is obvious that by employing this technique, the system obtains more strength against destructive fading. The simulations for different rates have confirmed that utilizing the ORIOL antenna outperforms patch...

Abstract
Surface integrity is one of the important parameters affecting the quality and functionality of mechanical components. This paper presents an investigation on effect of drilling parameter on the surface integrity of Inconel 718 through a combination of experimental and simulation works. The machining responses that are determined through the experimental work include microhardness, microstructure changes, and surface roughness. The average grain size of the microstructure of the workpiece is estimated by using a simulation model. The experimental and simulation results show that higher spindle speed facilitates the formation of white layer near the machined surface and decreases the average...

Abstract
Medical waste management (MWM) is an important and necessary problem in the COVID-19 situation for treatment staff. When the number of infectious patients grows up, the amount of MWMs increases day by day. We present medical waste chain network design (MWCND) that contains health center (HC), waste segregation (WS), waste purchase contractor (WPC), and landfill. We propose to locate WS to decrease waste and recover them and send them to the WPC. Recovering medical waste like metal and plastic can help the environment and return to the production cycle. Therefore, we proposed a novel viable MWCND by a novel two-stage robust stochastic programming that considers resiliency (flexibility and...

Abstract
The viable closed-loop supply chain network (VCLSCND) is a new concept that integrates sustainability, resiliency, and agility into a circular economy. We suggest a hybrid robust stochastic optimization by minimizing the weighted expected, maximum, and entropic value at risk (EVaR) of the cost function for this problem. This form considers robustness against demand disruption. Finally, CLSC components are located, and quantity flows are determined in the automotive industry. The results show that the VCLSCND cost is less than not considering viability and has a − 0.44% gap. We analyze essential parameters. By increasing the conservative coefficient, confidence level, and the scale of the...
Bubble in flow field: A new experimental protocol for investigating dynamic adsorption layers by using capillary pressure tensiometry

Abstract
For many years the model of a dynamic adsorption layer (DAL) is well established as explanation for the behavior of rising bubbles in surfactant solutions. This model explains the velocity profile and the evolution of the shape of a rising bubble based on the hypothesis of the balance between the drag force and the structure of the adsorbed layer governed by Marangoni convection. However, direct measurements of interfacial properties of the bubble during rising are a real challenge. Here we present a new experimental protocol called "bubble in flow field" suitable for direct measurements of dynamic interfacial properties of a bubble surface using the capillary pressure tensiometry under...

Abstract
In this paper, we study the cell planning problem for a two-tier cellular network containing two types of base stations (BSs)— i.e. with fiber backhaul, referred to as wired BSs (W-BSs), and BSs with wireless backhaul, referred to as unwired-BSs (U-BSs). In-band full-duplex wireless communications is used to connect U-BSs and W-BSs. We propose an algorithm to determine the minimum number of W-BSs and U-BSs to satisfy given cell and capacity coverage constraints. Furthermore, we apply our proposed non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) to solve the joint cell and backhaul planning problem to minimize the cost of planning, while maximizing the coverage simultaneously....

Abstract
The physical properties and chemical structure of a new biosurfactant (licheniformin) produced by Bacillus licheniformis MS3 were investigated. The purified biosurfactant was identified as a lipopeptide with amino acid sequence of Gly, Ala, Val, Asp, Ser, Gly, Tyr and a lactone linkage between the carboxyl group of Aspargine and hydroxyl group of Tyrosine residue. The fatty acid moiety was attached to N-terminal amino acid residue through an amide bond. The purified licheniformin could lower the surface tension of water from 72 to 38 mN/m at concentrations higher than 15 μg/mL and its relative emulsion volume (EV%) was equal to 36%. It also showed stable surface activity over a wide range of...
Evaluating the Leanness and Agility Indexes of S.G.S Co
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Houshmand, Mahmoud (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this research ,lean and agile indexes in S.G.S Co. are evaluated. This company is the first company in engineering and supplying automotive parts as well as the first supply chain management and organization of Saipa Group. In the part of evaluating the lean management level it is the developed model of the suggested approach by Jackson “implementing a lean management system” (Jackson, 1996). As S.G.S is engaged in servicing activities not in production, we have changed some factors in Jackson's methodology. Different with the last model, we got the results and used AHP method for getting the level in each key. Finally by using another AHP the lean index of the S.G.S Co. was identified....
