    Abstract
A current limiter (CL), which protects virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) from overcurrents, may significantly alter the operation of the VSGs when activated. In this letter, a transient stability analysis of VSGs equipped with quadrature (q-)prioritized CL is performed. This study shows that in addition to the instability caused by the positive feedback of the primary controller, a VSG could become unstable after large disturbances due to the failure of the inner voltage controller. In this study, a stability criterion is provided for the voltage control loop. © 1986-2012 IEEE

    Abstract
The development of RFID systems in sensitive applications like e-passport, e-health, credit cards, and personal devices, makes it necessary to consider the related security and privacy issues in great detail. Among other security characteristic of an RFID authentication protocol, untraceability and synchronization are the most important attributes. The former is strongly related to the privacy of tags and their holders, while the latter has a significant role in the security and availability parameters. In this paper, we investigate three RFID authentication protocols proposed by Duc and Kim, Song and Mitchell, and Cho, Yeo and Kim in terms of privacy and security. We analyze the protocol...

    Abstract
The solar collectors absorb solar irradiation and then produce thermal energy; however, they cannot generate electrical power. Electricity and thermal energy can be produced by the photovoltaic thermal module, simultaneously, while the outlet temperature of the photovoltaic thermal module is not usually high enough to provide thermal requirements of a building such as hot water or space heating. This work proposes a novel compound system created by the connection of a solar collector in series with a photovoltaic thermal module to resolve the issue of low outlet temperature in the photovoltaic thermal module and lack of electrical power in solar collectors. To examine the feasibility of this...

    Abstract
In this work, bending and dynamic analyses of a three-layered functionally graded micro annular plate whit piezomagnetic layers are investigated based on FSD circular plate theory. The micro plate is subjected to magnetic field. It is assumed that the micro annular plate is resting on an orthotropic elastic medium. The stress relations which cooperate both mechanical and magnetic interactions are calculated based on MSGT and the governing equations are extracted through Hamilton’s principles. In order to solve the governing equations of micro annular plate, the numerical Ritz method is applied. After convergence of Ritz solving domain the obtained results are compared and adapted with the...

    Abstract
In this paper, the performance of some popular direct interconnection networks, namely the mesh, torus and hypercube, are studied with adaptive wormhole routing for different traffic patterns. We investigate the effect of the number of virtual channels and depth of their buffers on the performance of such strictly orthogonal topologies under uniform, hot-spot and matrix-transpose traffic patterns for generated messages, while the total buffer size associated to each physical channel is kept constant. In addition we analyze the effect of escape channel buffer length on the performance of a fully adaptive routing algorithm. It is shown that the optimal number of virtual channels and buffer...

    Abstract
The bifacial photovoltaic/thermal module is an emerging concept that can provide electricity and heat simultaneously, taking advantage of both front and rear sides of the panel; therefore, exhibiting a better performance compared to a conventional photovoltaic module or photovoltaic thermal module. In this study, four configurations of the bifacial photovoltaic/thermal module with different cooling methods have been proposed, i.e., cooling performed at either the upper or the lower surface, in parallel (applied to both upper and lower surfaces having similar start/endpoints), and swinging air back and forth (by guiding the air over the upper and lower surfaces, respectively). Abstract
In this paper, the parallel implementations of different iterative polynomial root finding methods on a processor with SIMD processing capability are reported. These methods are based on the construction of a sequence of approximations that converge to the set of roots. We have chosen four widely used methods namely Newton's, Durand-Kerner's, Aberth-Ehrlich's, and QD and implemented them using the SIMD instruction set of the Pentium processor with C++ and assembly language. Experiments show that a speedup of 3 or higher can be achieved, depending on the order of polynomial, required accuracy, and the method employed. © 2005 IEEE

    Abstract
The reported investigation aims at developing a compact model for circuit-aging simulation. The model considers dynamic trap-density increase during circuit operation in a consistent way. The model has been applied to an SRAM cell, where it is believed that the NBTI effect dominates. Our simulation verifies that the hot-carrier effect has a compensating influence on the NBTI aging of SRAM cells. © 2017 The Japan Society of Applied Physics

    Abstract
A compact aging model for circuit simulation has been developed by considering all possible trapped carriers within MOSFETs. The hot carrier effect and the N(P)BTI effect are modeled by integrating the substrate current as well as the oxide field change due to the trapped carriers. Additionally, the carriers trapped within the highly resistive drift region are included for high-voltage (HV)-MOSFET modeling. The aging model considers the dynamic trap-density increase as a function of circuit-operation time with dynamically varying stress conditions for each individual MOSFET. A self-consistent solution is obtained by iteratively solving the Poisson equation including the trap density. The...

Ionic interdiffusion as interaction mechanism between Al and Si3N4

    Abstract
Al-Si3N4 couples were heat-treated at 850-1150°C for 250 hours. The thickness of the interacted area was measured by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and scanning/transmission electron microscopy (TEM/STEM). The interaction rate increases exponentially with inverse temperature, with an activation energy of 194.23 kJ/mol and diffusion pre-coefficient of 5 × 10−9 m2/s, indicating that the interaction is diffusion-dependent. As the results showed, the interfacial area is comprised of Al alloy channels, Si precipitates, and AlN grains. Al-Si transfer through the solid solution (Si3-xAlxN4-y) at the interface of Al alloy and β-Si3N4 grains controls the kinetic of the interaction. When...

Turbulent flow in converging nozzles, part one: Boundary layer solution

    Abstract
The boundary layer integral method is used to investigate the development of the turbulent swirling flow at the entrance region of a conical nozzle. The governing equations in the spherical coordinate system are simplified with the boundary layer assumptions and integrated through the boundary layer. The resulting sets of differential equations are then solved by the fourth-order Adams predictor-corrector method. The free vortex and uniform velocity profiles are applied for the tangential and axial velocities at the inlet region, respectively. Due to the lack of experimental data for swirling flows in converging nozzles, the developed model is validated against the numerical simulations. The...
