    Abstract
We consider a multi-objective linear programming model with type-2 fuzzy objectives. The considered model has the flexibility for the user to specify the more general membership functions for objectives to reflect the inherent fuzziness, while being simple and practical. We develop two solution strategies with reasonable computing costs. The additional cost, as compared to the type-1 fuzzy model, is indeed insignificant. These two algorithms compute Pareto optimal solutions of the type-2 problems, one being based on a maxmin approach and the other on aggregating the objectives. Finally, applying the proposed algorithms, we work out two illustrative examples

    Abstract
A new weighted order scheme is presented for finding alternative Pareto optimal solution of multi objective linear programming problems. In developing the weighted scheme, a big M model is proposed. We establish some properties of the ordering scheme and the proposed model and show how to determine proper values of the parameter M. Illustrative examples are worked out to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach and the competitiveness of the obtained solutions as compared to the ones obtained by the weighted maxmin and the weighted aggregation methods

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Maali Amiri, Mojtaba (Author) ; Seif, Mohammad Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
An assessment of the relative speeds and payload capacities of airborne and waterborne vehicles highlights a gap which can be usefully filled by a new vehicle concept, utilizing both hydrodynamic and aerodynamic forces. A high speed marine vehicle equipped with aerodynamic surfaces (called a Flying Boat, 'Aerodynamically Alleviated Marine Vehicle') is one such concept. The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the performance of a Flying Boat before take-off in head sea condition. First, performance will be assessed in calm water, and then will be evaluated in waves. Performance is defined as the variation of Resistance Force and Trim Angle of a vessel in an arbitrary interval. This...

    Abstract
An assessment of the relative speeds and payload capacities of airborne and waterborne vehicles accentuates a gap that can be usefully filled by a new vehicle concept, making use of both hydrodynamic and aerodynamic forces. A high speed marine vehicle equipped with aerodynamic surfaces (called an AAMV, ‘aerodynamically alleviated marine vehicle’) is one such concept. There are three major modes of motion in the operation of an AAMV including take-off, cruising and landing. However, during take-off, hydrodynamic and aerodynamic problems of an AAMV interact with each other in a coupled manner, which make the evaluation of this phase much more difficult. In this article, at first aerodynamic...

    Abstract
Aerodynamically alleviated marine vehicle (AAMV) is a high speed craft equipped with aerodynamic surfaces that operating in ground effect zone provides this craft with the ability to achieve much higher cruising speeds. Reducing the take-off mode of an AAMV is highly desirable. Additionally, it is seen where there is a considerable reserve thrust take-off can occur in the lower get-away speeds that shorten the take-off run and, therefore, is favourable. Accordingly, in this study an attempt has been made to develop a nonlinear mathematical model for an AAMV to simulate accelerations in take-off and landing phases, using semi-empirical equations mainly proposed for mono-hull high-speed craft,...

Risk-based Approach to Account for Soil-Structure Interaction in Seismic Design of Building Structures

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Vaseghi Amiri, Shaghayegh (Author) ; Ghannad, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor) ; Mahsuli, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This paper proposes a novel probabilistic approach to account for soil-structure interaction (SSI) in the seismic design of building structures. In this approach, an SSI response modification factor, RSSI, is introduced to capture SSI effects on the seismic performance of structures. The proposed procedure quantifies RSSI such that the probability distribution of the collapse capacity of the structure designed to account for SSI concurs with that of the structure designed using the default fixed-base provisions. The proposed approach is employed for special steel moment frame buildings with surface foundation. A surrogate single degree of freedom (SDOF) system is developed in this study and...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Javidan, Javad (Author) ; Atarodi, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis deals with the front-End of an Integrated RFID Reader operated in 860MHz to 960MHz, which integrates a RF transceiver including PA, LNA and Mixer. In the receiver part, a power amplifier was fabricated and measured and in the transmitter part, LNA and Mixer were designed. There is a growing interest in utilizing CMOS technologies for RF power amplifiers (PAs). Although several advances have been made recently to enable full integration of PAs in CMOS, it is still among the most difficult challenges in achieving a truly single-chip radio system in CMOS. This is exacerbated by supply voltage reduction due to CMOS technology scaling and on-chip passive losses due to the conductive...

    Abstract
Inert gold become catalytically active when dispersed in the form of nanoparticles. Isolated gold nanoparticles have demonstrated high catalytic activity for both oxidation and reduction reactions. In order to obtain high catalytic activity, gold nanoparticles are generally dispersed on support materials, among which oxides are commonly used. However, a substantial decrease in activity and selectivity of the immobilized catalysts is frequently observed due to the heterogeneous nature of these support materials in reaction media. In the course of our study on the metal-based catalysis for synthesis of organic compounds, we herein report that rod-shaped Au nanoparticles in aqua solution...

Design and Implementation of Complex Multi-Path Filters

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karami, Poorya (Author) ; Atarodi, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In most radio receivers like superheterodyne receivers, a weak desired incoming signal is accompanied with many interferer signals that are much more powerful than the desired signal itself. These interferers, also called blockers, can cause a great disturbance in the functionality of the receiver. Due to gain compression and an increase in the noise figure (NF) of the receiver, the blockers should be filtered before the arrival at the output of the LNA. Because of the low quality factors of the available on chip inductors and in order to eliminate the out of band interferer signals and image frequency (in superheterodyne receivers), usually an external surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter is...
