    Multifunctional hyperelastic structured surface for tunable and switchable transparency

    We leverage the crucial hyperelastic properties of a multifunctional structured surface to optimize the reconfigurability of the electromagnetic transmission under large nonlinear mechanical deformations. This multiphysics, multifunctional, hyperelastic structured surface (HSS) offers two simultaneous intriguing functionalities; tunability and switchability. It is made of copper reso-nators and a Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate, which is one of the most favorable deformable substrates due to its hyperelastic behavior.     Abstract
    This paper proposes an efficient parallel algorithm for computing Lagrange interpolation on k-ary n-cube networks. This is done using the fact that a k-ary n-cube can be decomposed into n link-disjoint Hamiltonian cycles. Using these n link-disjoint cycles, we interpolate Lagrange polynomial using full bandwidth of the employed network. Communication in the main phase of the algorithm is based on an all-to-all broadcast algorithm on the n link-disjoint Hamiltonian cycles exploiting all network channels, and thus, resulting in high-efficiency in using network resources.     Abstract
    Tunable metasurfaces can shift their resonant frequency through different approaches, one of which is applying mechanical deformations. Here, we show the effects of two key factors on the tunability of deformable metasurfaces; the resonator geometry and substrate stiffness. To show the effects, we compared the tunability of unit cells with three resonator geometries and three common substrates at microwave frequencies from 1 GHz to 10 GHz under a given mechanical deformation.     This paper proposes a novel combinational Adaptive Noise Canceller (ANC), which is suitable for non stationary noise environments. Pre-filter bank structure improves the convergence rate leading to less error in real-time applications. During our investigations, we have found out adaptive algorithms have better performance for low frequency subbands.     We propose a triple-tunnel junction single electron transistor (TTJ-SET). The proposed structure consists of a metallic quantum-dot island that is capacitive coupled to a gate contact and surrounded by three tunnel junctions. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first instance of introducing this new structure that is suitable for both digital and analog applications. To control these multiple, potentially competing objectives, we present a phased controller that operates one manipulator at a time using closed-loop imaging feedback.     Let G be a graph and F: V(G) → 2N be a mapping. The graph G is said to be F- avoiding if there exists an orientation O of G such that do +(v)∉ F (v) for every v ∈ V (G), where do +(v) denotes the out-degree of v in the directed graph G with respect to O. In this paper it is shown that if G is bipartite and |F (v)| ≤ dG (v)/2 for every v ∈ V (G), then G is F-avoiding. The bound |F (v)| ≤ dG (v)/2 is best possible. For every graph G, we conjecture that if |F (v)| ≤ 1/2 dG (v)-1) for every v ∈ V (G), then G is F-avoiding.     The excellent photoluminescent properties of Fe3O4-graphene quantum dots (Fe3O4/GQD) nanoparticles prepared at 30 and 90 °C have made them as promising optical probes for imaging. Herein, the cytotoxicity of GQD and Fe3O4/GQD nanoparticles in L929 cells was investigated using MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium Bromide] assay.     In the present study, two preconditioners proposed by Eriksson, and Choi and Merkel are implemented on a 3D upwind Euler flow solver on unstructured meshes. The mathematical formulations of these preconditioning schemes for the set of primitive variables Q→p 1=[ρ u v , w p] T are drawn and their eigenvalues and eigenvectors are compared with each others. A cell-centered finite volume Roe's method is used for discretization of the 3D preconditioned Euler equations. The accuracy and performance of these preconditioning schemes are examined by computing low Mach number flows over the ONERA M6 wing for different conditions

    Rapid population growth, urbanization, and industrialization affect countries’ vulnerability to future disasters. This study investigates the vulnerability of 141 countries to natural and anthropogenic hazards using six environmental indicators including air pollution, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, access to drinking water, access to improved sanitation, environmental risks (total death and affected people), and energy use.
