Transient Liquid phase Bonding of AL2024 Alloy and Evaluation of Joint Properties

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Mahmoodi Ghaznavi, Majid (Author) ; Kokabi, Amir Hossein (Supervisor) ; Ekrami, Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding of Al2024-T6 alloy, using gallium interlayer, has been investigated. Bonding experiments were carried out using two basic methods; Conventional and Temperature gradient TLP bonding. Optimum values of isothermal solidification temperature and time, pressure, surface roughness, heating rate and homogenizing conditions were determined in conventional TLP bonding experiments. Aluminum oxide layer was not removed before TLP bonding to prevent gallium attack.this layer is crashed during bonding. Al2O3 particles are not soluble in the liquid and are pushed into liquid by solidification front progression. These particles are accumulated in grain boundaries and in...

Modeling of Crumb Rubber Concrete for a Structural Column by Evaluating the use of FRP

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghaznavi Doozandeh, Soheil (Author) ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The research shows that the compressive strength of concrete reduced by replacing crumb rubber in concrete mix design compared to normal concrete mix design. However, there have been a couple of utilizations investigated to date for the structural utilization of these materials. Crumb rubber is usually provided from recycled rubber from automotive and truck scrap tires. During the recycling process steel and triviality are removed, leaving tire rubber with a granulose cohesiveness. The additional crumb-rubber aggregate has a significant effect on concrete mix porosity which affects both the plastic state workability and hardened state mechanical properties. This research depicts an...

Effect of solidification mechanism on microstructure and mechanical properties of joint in TLP bonded Al2024-T6 alloy

    , Article Science and Technology of Welding and Joining ; Volume 16, Issue 2 , Nov , 2011 , Pages 174-180 ; 13621718 (ISSN) Ghaznavi, M. M ; Ekrami, A ; Kokabi, A. H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
Transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding of Al2024-T6 alloy, using gallium (Ga) interlayer, has been investigated. Bonding process was carried out at 470°C for 6 min, and homogenising temperature and time were 495°C and 2 h respectively. Conventional TLP bonding using Ga interlayer was not an appropriate method for joining of Al2024. In this method, the boundary between two Al2024 specimens was not fully eliminated during bonding because of solidification with planar front. In addition, bonding zone was depleted of copper, and as a result, tensile and shear strength of joint decreased to 200 and 110 MPa respectively. TLP bonding under temperature gradient offered very good results in bonding of...

    2017
    Abstract
Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process was used to weld plates of strain-hardened Al-6.7Mg alloy. It was observed that HAZ softening issue occurred extensively for the current material using the GMAW process. So, as a solution, pulsed current was employed and the plates were welded by pulsed GMAW (PGMAW) process. The effects of peak current (93, 120, 140, and 160 A) and pulse frequency (0.5, 2.0, and 5.0 Hz) on the strength of the weldments were investigated. For high peak currents (160 A), catastrophic defects were formed in the weld metal. It was observed that for the lowest pulse frequency (0.5 Hz), increasing the peak current increased the weld strength. The peak current did not change the...

Moreover, most of researches do not consider the competition among supply chains

The Effects of Intentional Process Models on Goal Modeling and Process Conformance Checking

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Farsayyad, Nazi (Author) ; Rafiei, Majid (Supervisor) ; Khedmati, Majid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, requirement engineering and goal modeling have gained more attention among different organisations. Therefore, different methods have been designed to discover stakeholders’ requirements and translate them into process and organizational goals. Various goal models have been introduced to represent these goals and their relations towards each other. Still, these methods are manual representations of different process scenarios and do not relate to the actual behavior. In 2014, Map Miner Method (MMM) was introduced to discover intentional process models from event logs. MMM uses Hidden Markov Model (HMM) as a means to represent the process as a map model of strategies and...

    Abstract
Recommending routes to city taxis in order to improve their performance in finding passengers can reduce traffic, pollution and waiting time for passengers, as well as this, increasing the efficiency of taxis can increase their income. In this study, by analyzing trajectory data obtained from 536 taxis in San Francisco over a period of one month, we generated networks of cells, each of which has time-dependent characteristics such as the probability of finding a passenger, the capacity of each cell, or the amount of demand exists is in the cell and the average speed of passing through that cell. also, the connections between these cells in order to make more use of the experiences of taxi...

Robust Learning to Spurious Correlation without Access to Side Information of the Environment

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghaznavi, Mahdi (Author) ; Rohban, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor) ; Soleymani Baghshah, Mahdieh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Traditionally, machine learning models for classification tasks rely on statistical methods to find correlations between patterns in the input data and their correspond- ing labels. However, these correlations are not necessarily consistent across different data partitions and may change at test time. Such unstable correlations are referred to as spurious correlations. When the spurious correlation relied upon during training changes at test time, the model’s accuracy can degrade. To improve robustness to shifts in spurious correlations, most research in this area assumes that group annota- tions based on different values of the spurious attribute are available during training or validation....

    Abstract
In literature, substantial works have been done on supply chain coordination. The majority of these works looking for a mechanism that enforces the supply chain members to follow strategies that produce the equilibria of an integrated supply chain, and most of this literature ignores competition between supply chains. In this thesis, we consider two distinct supply chains which compete to each other on the price. We present a method to calculate the equilibria for three structural forms. In the first form, two supply chains are integrated and in the second form, one of the supply chains is integrated and the other one is decentralized. Finally in the third form, both supply chains are...

Evaluation and Simulation of Tunnel Mid-shaft Effects on the Natural and Normal Ventilation Performance in a Subway Tunnel

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mahmoodi, Ghasem (Author) ; Farhanieh, Bijan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Necessity of a public transport network, environmental protection and a highly land cost in urban areas have increased the desire for underground transportation systems. On the other hand, ventilation system design should be done precisely specially for longer tunnels, large undergrounds spaces and crowded places. Rate of energy reduction for vent systems operation is dependent on their proper implementation. Tunnel design efficiently is influenced by ventilation system. The tunnel mid shaft is complementary part of the underground railway systems that is required for exchange air between the tunnel and the railway station with ambient fresh air. An important application of the tunnel mid...

Single-input single-output and multi-input single-output models are identified as online and offline using least squares method. Since it is difficult to exactly identify the model parameters, especially at...

Investigating the Use of Gold Nanoparticle in Increasing Dose of Tumor and Reducing the Dose of Normal Tissue in Brachytherapy

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mahmoodi, Monireh (Author) ; Hosseini, Abolfazl (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Over the past few decades, brachytherapy has been used as one of the leading methods in the treatment of a wide range of cancers, including breast cancer. Due to the high dose gradient of brachytherapy radiation sources, this method is used to treat such tumors that are grown at the vicinity of sensitive points or tissues of the body. Therefore, as irradiation get started by implanting radiation sources in the desired position, at the same time healthy tissue are also receiving the same dose as tumor tissues do Reducing healthy tissue dose along with increasing the dose of tumor tissue is one of the challenging topics that researchers are always looking for a solution. In the left breast...

On edge star sets in trees

    , Article Discrete Mathematics ; Volume 311, Issue 13 , July , 2011 , Pages 1172-1178 ; 0012365X (ISSN) Akbari, S ; Ghorbani, E ; Mahmoodi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
Let A be a Hermitian matrix whose graph is G (i.e. there is an edge between the vertices i and j in G if and only if the (i,j) entry of A is non-zero). Let λ be an eigenvalue of A with multiplicity mA(λ). An edge e=ij is said to be Parter (resp., neutral, downer) for λ,A if mA(λ)-mA-e(λ) is negative (resp., 0, positive ), where A-e is the matrix resulting from making the (i,j) and (j,i) entries of A zero. For a tree T with adjacency matrix A a subset S of the edge set of G is called an edge star set for an eigenvalue λ of A, if |S|=mA(λ) and A-S has no eigenvalue λ. In this paper the existence of downer edges and edge star sets for non-zero eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of a tree is...

    Nowhere-zero eigenvectors of graphs

    , Article Linear and Multilinear Algebra ; Volume 61, Issue 2 , 2013 , Pages 273-279 ; 03081087 (ISSN) Akbari, S ; Ghorbani, E ; Mahmoodi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
A vector is called nowhere-zero if it has no zero entry. In this article we search for graphs with nowhere-zero eigenvectors. We prove that distance-regular graphs and vertex-transitive graphs have nowhere-zero eigenvectors for all of their eigenvalues and edge-transitive graphs have nowhere-zero eigenvectors for all non-zero eigenvalues. Among other results, it is shown that a graph with three distinct eigenvalues has a nowhere-zero eigenvector for its smallest eigenvalue

A certificate-based proxy signature with message recovery without bilinear pairing

    , Article Security and Communication Networks ; Volume 9, Issue 18 , 2016 , Pages 4983-4991 ; 19390114 (ISSN) Mahmoodi, A ; Mohajery, J ; Salmasizadeh, M ; Sharif University of Technology
John Wiley and Sons Inc  2016
    Abstract
In this paper, we propose the first provable secure certificate-based proxy signature (CBPS) with message recovery without bilinear pairing. In 2003, Gentry introduced the concept of certificate-based cryptography to solve certificate management and key escrow problems in public key infrastructure and identity-based cryptosystems, respectively. Because the overall cost of pairing computation is higher than scalar multiplication (e.g., over elliptic curve group), consequently, the CBPS schemes without pairings would be more efficient. According to the available research in this regard, our scheme is the first provable secure CBPS scheme with message recovery that is based on the elliptic...

    Abstract
Recently, for zero ordering cost a new ordering policy named (1, T), in which the time interval between two consecutive orders and the value of the order size are both constant, have been developed for nonperishable products. In this paper, the (1, T) policy is developed for perishable products. Using an analogy among this inventory model, a queueing model with impatient customers, and a finite dam model, the long-run average total cost function of the inventory system is derived. It is observed that the total cost rate is independent from the lead time as is for nonperishable products. Since analyzing the convexity of the model is extremely complicated, a proposition is proved to define a...
