Abstract
Estimating Origin-Destination matrix, named O-D matrix or ODM, is an important issue in transportation planning. Due to need to survey movements on the network, estimating ODM is usually considered as a high-cost measure in transportation planning. In this research work, a two-stage procedure, including solving routing problem and minimizing the difference between observed and estimated traffic volumes on the network, has been developed to estimate the O-D matrix elements. At the first stage, routing problem is solved to determine paths while in the second stage an absolute error function has been defined to determine the number of trips from each origin to destination pairs. The procedure...
Developing a Methodology for Evaluating the Vulnerability of Urban Transportation Networks after an Earthquake
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Nassiri, Habibollah (Supervisor)
Abstract
Natural disasters, earthquakes in particular, claim many human lives and damage major lifelines such as transportation networks. Transportation networks play an important role in various stages of response to disasters, such as evacuation, search, rescue and reconstruction missions. Hence, special attention must be paid to transportation networks in any disaster management system. Hence, in order to reduce the impacts of earthquakes on denser cities and metropolitan areas, analysis of the resiliency and vulnerability of critical infrastructures such as transportation network, can be used as an effective strategy. The resiliency and vulnerability of transportation network have attract a lot...
Proposing a Method to Enhance the Quality of Image Data in the Data Mining Process
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Khedmati, Majid (Supervisor)
Abstract
Single image super-resolution (SISR) is a known difficult problem, which aims to obtain a high-resolution (HR) output from one of its low-resolution (LR) versions. The problem of Super Resolution has applications in many areas and industries where, for example, it can reduce the cost and time of re-imaging in many fields including the medical industry. In the satellite industry, distortions are eliminated and geographic information increases with clarity. In the astronomical industry, image recognition and computation become easier with super resolution. Also in many other important fields, for example, car license plate imaging, image quality enhancement can have significant effects for...
localization of Loose Parts on Primary Circuit of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant by using Acoustic Signals of Sensors
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghofrani, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
Loose parts in the primary circuit of a nuclear power plant, causing damage to the fuel rods and other equipment, so early localization and mass estimation of this pieces can provide context of safety measures for the reactor after an event.Acoustic signals emitted by the location of these parts provide enough information to estimate their location and mass. So with obtain time-of-arrival differences between sensors and sound velocity can be estimate loose part location. In this thesis signals of the sensors in Bushehr power plant monitoring system are analyzied. To estimate the loose part locations, the time delays between sensors must be calculated. The time difference between the sensors...

Abstract
Chaos is defined as an unpredictable and unrepeatable motion which has been observed in many classical systems such as unharmonic oscillators and turbulent currents in fluids. The common aspect of these types of motions is the deterministic nonlinear equation. On the other hand, quantum mechanics is a stochastic theory which is based on probabilistic description of quantum systems. These approaches lead to quantum chaos phenomenon which has been a controversial issue in the recent years. In the thesis, by studying the classical chaotic models such as kicked rotor, billiard model, excited hydrogen atom under microwave field and etc, we examine the existence of chaotic behavior in quantum...
