Different aspects of oscillatory behaviors of sandwich structures with viscoelastic cores are investigated in the present study in four parts. In the first part, an analytical study is conducted to determine the variation of linear frequencies and damping ratio of different families of modes with system parameters. Aero-thermoelastic analysis of a simply supported functionally graded truncated conical shell subjected to supersonic air flow is performed to predict the flutter boundaries. The temperature-dependent properties of the FG shell are assumed to be graded through the thickness according to a simple rule of mixture and power-law function of volume fractions of material constituents. Abstract
The aero-thermo-elastic stability of layered cylindrical shells with viscoelstic cores is investigated. The Donnell's shell theory for the outer layers and the first order shear deformation theory for the viscoelastic layer are employed in conjunction with the von Karman-Donnell kinematic nonlinearity to construct the model. The pre-stresses and pre-deformations arisen from the temperature rise and static aerodynamic pressure are first determined by solving the nonlinear thermo-elastic equilibrium equations using by an exact analytical method. Abstract
The nonlinear free and forced bending vibration of sandwich plates with incompressible viscoelastic core is investigated under the effects of different source of nonlinearities. For the core constrained between stiffer layers, the transverse shear strains, as well as the rotations are assumed to be moderate. The linear and quadratic displacement fields are also adopted for the in-plane and out-of-plane displacements of the core, respectively. Free vibrations and the transverse response of sandwich plates with viscoelastic cores under wide-band random excitation is studied with special attention to the so-called pumping, thickness-shear and stretching modes. The quadratic displacement field is adopted for all displacement components of the core to accurately capture the higher modes excited by the wide-band excitation. Abstract
In this study, we discuss the postural stability of a nonprehensile manipulation problem, which deals with multibody objects. As a metric for postural stability, we define PRI. Then, the system is posturally stable, if PRI is inside the convex hull of the object-manipulator contact surface. We then discuss that dynamic biped locomotion is a special case of dynamic nonprehensile manipulation in all aspects; we prove that ZMP (zero-moment point) and FRI (zoot rotation indicator) are special cases of PRI (palm rotation indicator). Abstract
The electrochemical oxidation behavior of the anti-inflammatory drug piroxicam was investigated. A carbon nanoparticle (CNP)-chitosan (CS) film-coated graphite electrode (PGE) was fabricated and the electrochemical behaviors of piroxicam on its surface was investigated by the means of cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). In comparison to the bare PGE, at the surface of the CNP-CS film modified electrode, the oxidation peak current of piroxicam increased significantly and the peak potential shifted negatively. In the present work, edge-functionalaized graphene was used as electrode material and its electrochemical properties were systematically characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Two methods were applied to modify the gold electrode surface. First method was the self assembling process of graphene nanosheets on gold electrode surface. Second method was simply casting specific amounts of graphene suspension on the gold electrode surface. At the first part of this thesis, a pyrolitic graphite electrode (PGE) modified with new coccine/multi-walled carbon nanotubes film (NC/MWCNT) was applied as a sensitive electrochemical sensor for determination and study of electrochemical behavior of tyrosine (Tyr) in aqueous solutions. The results showed that NC/MWCNT caused a remarkable increase in the peak current so the NC/MWCNT/PGE electrode surface was far more sensitive to the concentration of Tyr than the PGE surface. For an undirected graph G, a zero-sum flow is an assignment of non-zero real numbers on the edges of G such that the total sum of all edges incident with any vertex of G is zero. A zero-sum k-flow for a graph G is a zero-sum flow with labels from the set {±1, . . . , ±(k ? 1)}. In this thesis for a graph G, a necessary and sufficient condition forthe existence of zero-sum flow is given.
