High Volume Event Correlation for Long-term Attack Detection
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Amini, Morteza (Supervisor)
Abstract
The long-term Attacks are some special multi-level attacks which remain inside of systems for a long time to finally perform the damage. One of the most famous kinds of these attacks is Advanced Persistent Threats. These kinds of attack are low-level, distributed inside of the network and their goal is stealing information or corrupting a process in the organization. Banks are one of the most vulnerable organizations which have suffered from these attacks, so the main purpose of this research is detecting them and give warning to the security admin. The goal of financial APTs is stealing money and to achieve that, they have to create some transactions and send them to the core banking. We...
Flow Simulation to Assess Effects of Various Parameters on Performance of a Gas Ultrasonic Flowmeter
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mazaheri, Karim (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis we are going to improve an ultrasonic flowmeter accuracy by considering the influence of different parameters like temperature, pressure, etc. Firstl of all different cases of flow condition in which ultrasonic flowmeter may work are specified, then velocity and temperature profile of pipe flow are determined using Fluent software. In thr next step ultrasonic pulses transmitted are simulated by the use of code written in Matlab to find wave travel time in the flow. Evetually an accurate relation of calibration for flowmeter is determined by the use of travel time and all other flow properties to evaluate the accuracy of flowmeter in diffent cases. Relation extracted can be...
Instagram and its Relation to Moral Values
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Hosseini, Hassan (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis, the value-ladenness or value-neutrality of technology, new social media and as a result Instagram is investigated. It is also discussed whether values can be taken into account during the design process of technical artefacts, including new social media and Instagram, and methods are developed for this purpose. Several methods have been developed for this purpose, some of them and their compatibility with modern social media are explained; including the Value-Sensitive-Design method and the disclosive computer ethics design method. The frameworks of ethical philosophy such as virtue ethics are reviewed and the appropriate ethical framework for the analysis of new social media...
Investigation of Nanoparticles Removal from Industrial Wastewater
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Shaygan Salek, Jalaloddin (Supervisor)
Abstract
Nanotechnology as an interdisciplinary science is used in many fields. The use of nanomaterial, make new opportunities in the industry. However, safety issues and environmental risks of the consequences of their use in various applications are the matters of concern. Because of the new emergence of this technology, it is essential that all aspects including possible harmful effects on the environment will also be considered. One way to remove the nanoparticles, is electrocoagulation method, assemble nanoparticles into larger particles with an electric current. In this study, the removal of titanium dioxide nanoparticles, due to its high use in the industry, with electrocoagulation method and...

Abstract
In this study, a 3-DOF dynamic model is developed for the lower limb in the cycling activity using Lagrangian mechanics. An exponential reaching law sliding mode controller is then applied to the system in order to imitate the joints' real motion. The kinematic data of the joints are obtained through conducting experiments with an ergometer bike. Results show acceptable tracking performance for the control system. The study's outcome can be used by rehabilitation experts in their work. It is also useful for the engineers in designing rehabilitation devices or developing muscular models. © 2022 IEEE

Abstract
Musculoskeletal modeling of human motions such as cycling can help rehabilitation experts design and develop more effective therapy procedures. In the current study, a musculoskeletal model for the lower limb of cyclists is developed and controlled by designing a CPG network. EMG sensors were attached to the leg of five persons with different physical conditions, including professional and amateur cyclists, to record six muscles’ activities. Also, the joints’ trajectories have been measured. The skeletal dynamics of the skeleton of the lower limb are modeled using Lagrangian mechanics, and Hill’s modified nonlinear model is used for modeling the muscles. Central pattern generators are...

Abstract
Nitric Oxide (NO) provides myocardial oxygen demands of the heart during exercise and cardiac pacing and also prevents cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis and platelet adhesion and aggregation. However, the direct in vivo measurement of NO in coronary arteries is still challenging. To address this matter, a mathematical model of dynamic changes of calcium and NO concentration in the coronary artery was developed for the first time. The model is able to simulate the effect of NO release in coronary arteries and its impact on the hemodynamics of the coronary arterial tree and also to investigate the vasodilation effects of arteries during cardiac pacing. For these purposes, flow...
