Influence of Heat Treatment on Size and Morphology of Various γ′ Phase in IN738LC and GTD-111 Superalloys
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Asgari, Sirous (Supervisor)
Abstract
Gamma prime (γ') precipitates are the most important phase in nickel-base superalloys that rise to a combination of desirable properties in superalloys. The morphology of these particles has important contribution to the resulting properties of superalloys. Heat treatment process of superalloys is one of the most important factors affecting the characteristics of the γ' phase. In this study, nickel-base superalloys IN738LC and GTD-111 were used to study the evolution of the microstructure and morphology of the γ' precipitates under a variety of heat treatment cycles including partial dissolution, aging for different times and under a range of cooling rates. Morphology and characteristics of...

Abstract
A superconducting synchronous motor with an inductor containing bulk high temperature superconductor and BiSrCaCuo wires has been studied in this paper. The principle of operation is based on the interaction between the two spatial variable magnetic fields in the motor air gap. One of the two aforementioned magnetic fields is produced by the superconducting inductor based on magnetic shielding of high temperature superconductors. A procedure is developed to calculate the magnetic field produced by the inductor in the environment of the commercial finite element code ANSYS. The HTS motor is designed to develop 100 hp (the rated power). © 2008 Australasian Universities Power Engineering...
Does the short-term boost of renewable energies guarantee their stable long-term growth? Assessment of the dynamics of feed-in tariff policy

Abstract
Feed-in tariff (FiT) is one of the most efficient ways that many governments throughout the world use to stimulate investment in renewable energies (REs) technology. For governments, financial management of the policy could be challenging as it needs a considerable amount of budget to support RE producers during the long remuneration period. In this paper, it has been illuminated that the early growth of REs capacity could be a temporary boost. And the socio-economic structure of the system will backlash the policy if some social mechanisms are not considered. Social tolerance for paying REs tax and potential investors’ trust emanated from budget-related mechanisms -which have rarely been...

Abstract
The performance of the magnesium fluoride/chromium/gold in-line fiber optic polarizer on the thickness of magnesium fluoride buffer layer and chromium metal thin film was theoretically investigated. To prove the theoretical study, the magnesium fluoride/chromium/gold polarizer was made based on the simulation results. The obtained polarizer showed an extinction ratio of about 40 dB which is in a good agreement with the theoretical result at the corresponding thicknesses. Both theoretical and experimental results showed that by covering the side polished single mode fiber with the optimum layer thicknesses, a novel and an efficient fiber polarizer with the high extinction ratio could be...
