    Multidisciplinary optimization of a stiffened shell by genetic algorithm

    Abstract
    Vibration analysis of simply supported rotating cross-ply laminated stiffened cylindrical shell is performed using an energy approach which includes variational and averaging method. The stiffeners include rings and stringers. The equations are obtained by Rayleigh-Ritz method and Sander's relations. To validate the present method, the results are compared to the results available in other literatures. A good adoption is observed in different type of results including isotropic shells, rotating laminated shells, stiffened isotropic shells and stiffened laminated shells.     Abstract
    In this work performances of adaptive backstepping controller (BSC) and globally linearizing controller (GLC) are compared for pH control. First, based on the system full order model a GLC has been designed and it has been shown that this controller is identical to BSC proposed in the literature. Next in order to avoid state estimator design, BSC and GLC are designed based on pH reduced order model and their identities have been established. Through computer simulations, it has been shown that the performance of non-adaptive GLC designed based on reduced order model is better than that of adaptive BSC designed based on pH full order model which requires state measurement for implementation....

    Abstract
    pH control is a challenging problem due to its highly nonlinear nature. In this paper the performances of two different adaptive global linearizing controllers (GLC) are compared. Least squares technique has been used for identifying the titration curve. The first controller is a standard GLC based on material balances of each species. For implementation of this controller a nonlinear state estimator is used. Some modifications are proposed to avoid the singularity of the observer gain.     In this research, the influence of anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), pH, substrate finishing, and annealing temperature on the surface morphology and hardness of the electroless nickel phosphorus (ENi-P) coatings were studied. Taguchi's experimental design method was used. Parameters selected in three levels and L9 from orthogonal robust array design were employed. Surface roughnesses of the deposits were measured using a stylus instrument.     In this study operation of an optical design based on the intensity modulation for the refractive index change has been described. The reported instrument measures the transmitted output power depending up on the medium refractive index in the light path of a fiber-to-fiber design. A liquid cell is located between the fibers in the light path and power variations for different cold and hot water levels in the cell are measured. By using a reference humidity meter the calibration curve representing the relative humidity (%RH) as a function of the transmitted output power is obtained.     The spatial diffusion of house prices has been the subject of research for many years. Most of these studies have found a strong relationship between neighboring regions and a weaker relation between nonneighbors. This study uses changes in real house prices within Tehran at the level of municipality zones to illustrate the ripple effect by using quarterly house price data of Tehran’s twenty municipality zones since 1371 to 1391. It also aims to illustrate the heterogeneity in spatial spillovers of house prices development across space and time.     In this paper, we consider an integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system with wireless power transfer (WPT) where an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based radar serves a group of energy-limited communication users in addition to its sensing functionality.     Abstract
    Modified couple stress theory is a size-dependent theorem capturing the micro/nanoscale effects influencing the mechanical behaviors of the micro- and nanostructures. In this paper, it is applied to investigate the nonlinear vibration of carbon nanotubes under step DC voltage. The vibration, natural frequencies and dynamic pull-in characteristics of the carbon nanotubes are studied in detail. Moreover, the effects of various boundary conditions and geometries are scrutinized on the dynamic characteristics. The results reveal that application of this theory leads to the higher values of the natural frequencies and dynamic pull-in voltages
