    Substitution of Nd at Ba site in Gd123

    Abstract
    Structural and superconducting behaviors of Gd(Ba2-xNd x)Cu3O7-δ with 0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.8 have been studied by X-ray diffraction and electrical and magnetic measurements. The XRD patterns show the samples with x ≤ 0.5 are isostructure 123 phase, and an orthorhombic-tetragonal phase transition occurs at x = 0.2. The transition temperature decreases linearly with increasing Nd content. This behavior is also observed in the curves of the room-temperature resistivity versus Nd doping. The metal-insulator and superconductor-insulator transitions occur at x cMIT = 0.3 and x0SIT = 0.35, respectively.     In this research, we have presented a method to delay the propagation of fault current in high voltage power supplies. Common protection methods usually protect the load and do not protect the power supply itself well. In this research, our goal was to propose a method to prevent the short circuit fault current from reaching the power supply elements. At first, the available methods to limit the fault current and protect the high voltage power sources were studied and investigated.     As the result of safety factors considered in load and resistant values for the design of new offshore platforms, a higher resistance compared to the 100 year return period environmental loading, is achieved in the structure. This type of design is usually performed using linear methods of structural analysis. In this case the structure practically has a high reserve capacity which is disregarded in the design phase but may be considered in special cases. One of these important cases is when an existing structure is assessed and evaluated after elapse of its structural life.     Abstract
    We have studied the electrical and magnetic properties of single phase polycrystalline Gd(Ba2-x Lax)Cu3O 7+δ and Gd(Ba2-xNdx)Cu3O 7+δ (0≤ x ≤ 0.5) samples. The samples were prepared by the standard solid-state reaction technique. The electrical measurements show the decrease of Tc and increase of ΔTc with the increase of Nd and La-doping. The magnetoresistance of samples has been studied within the thermally activated flux creep (TAFC) model. The pinning energy decreases with the increase of magnetic field and doping for both systems in a similar way.     Abstract
    A Tesla charged PFL Bipolar pulsed power generator has been successfully designed and simulated. The compact Tesla transformer that it employs has successfully charged capacitive loads to peak voltages up to 0.6 MV . The Tesla–driven PFL generator is capable of producing a voltage impulse approaching .3 MV with generating a peak electrical power of up to 1.8 GW for 5 ns when connected to a matched resistive load. Potentially for medical application, a bipolar former has been designed and successfully simulated as an extension to the system and to enable the generation of a sinusoid-like voltage impulse with a peak-to-peak value reaching 600 kV and having a frequency bandwidth beyond 1 GHz....

    Abstract
    We have studied the electrical and magnetic properties of RuGd 2-xCexSr2Cu2O10-δ (Ru-1222) with content of Ce = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, prepared by the standard solid-state reaction technique. To determine how the magnetic and superconducting properties of this layered cuprate system can be affected by Ce substitution, the resistivity and magnetoresistivity have been measured at various temperatures. Resistivity curves reveal the presence of four regions for various contents of x. In high temperatures, system is paramagnetic. Magnetic transition from paramagnetic state to antiferromagnetic state occurs at 140 K for x = 0, which varies very slowly with increasing Ce substitution for Gd....

    Abstract
    We have studied the electrical and magnetic properties of normal and superconducting states of RuGd1.6Ce0.4Sr 2Cu2O10-δ (Ru-1222) system, prepared by the standard solid-state reaction technique, with applied magnetic field. The resistivity curves show that at high temperature the system is paramagnetic. At lower temperature, we can observe two magnetic transitions from paramagnetic state to anti-ferromagnetic and from anti-ferromagnetic to ferromagnetic.     In this review, effects of initial microstructure before intercritical annealing and processing routes of dual phase (DP) high strength steels are discussed. Prior-applied deformation processes as cold rolling and severe plastic deformation (SPD) including their impacts on mechanical properties of DP steels are described. Influences of heating rate, recrystallization of ferrite, nucleation and grain growth of austenite on the microstructure evolution are also presented. The intercritical annealing and thermomechanical processes of DP steels are comparatively outlined.     Homopolymer hydrogel of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS) and its nanocomposite counterpart were prepared to study their swelling properties. The hydrogels showed ability to absorb and retain electrolytes as well as binary mixtures of water and organic solvents (i.e., methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethylene glycol (EG), polyethylene glycol, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). The nanocomposite gel exhibited lower swelling in all solvent compositions in comparison with non-composite gel.     Scratchpad memory (SPM) is widely used in modern embedded processors to overcome the limitations of cache memory. The high vulnerability of SPM to soft errors, however, limits its usage in safety-critical applications. This paper proposes an efficient fault-tolerant scheme, called cache-assisted duplicated SPM (CADS), to protect SPM against soft errors. The main aim of CADS is to utilize cache memory to provide a replica for SPM lines. Using cache memory, CADS is able to guarantee a full duplication of all SPM lines.
