, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mirzazadeh, Babak (Author) ; Vaziri, Manouchehr (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, the trends of trade and transportation for the 10 subdivisions of food products and food products as a whole product based upon Standard International Trade Classification, SITC, have been appraised during the time period covering 1965 to 2005 among 125 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa. In this respect, the data of trade for the mentioned goods was gathered and other variables including gross domestic product, population, access to the international waters and area of countries and three transportation networks comprising two multimodal transportation networks and a unimodal network, during the cited period and for 125 countries was gathered. Then, regressions of trade...

A new learning algorithm for the MAXQ hierarchical reinforcement learning method

    , Article ICICT 2007: International Conference on Information and Communication Technology, Dhaka, 7 March 2007 through 9 March 2007 ; 2007 , Pages 105-108 ; 9843233948 (ISBN); 9789843233943 (ISBN) Mirzazadeh, F ; Behsaz, B ; Beigy, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
The MAXQ hierarchical reinforcement learning method is computationally expensive in applications with deep hierarchy. In this paper, we propose a new learning algorithm for MAXQ method to address the open problem of reducing its computational complexity. While the computational cost of the algorithm is considerably decreased, the required storage of new algorithm is less than two times as the original learning algorithm requires storage. Our experimental results in the simple Taxi Domain Problem show satisfactory behavior of the new algorithm

Optimization of caustic current efficiency in a zero-gap advanced chlor-alkali cell with application of genetic algorithm assisted by artificial neural networks

    , Article Chemical Engineering Journal ; Volume 140, Issue 1-3 , 2008 , Pages 157-164 ; 13858947 (ISSN) Mirzazadeh, T ; Mohammadi, F ; Soltanieh, M ; Joudaki, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
The effects of various process parameters on caustic current efficiency (CCE) in a zero-gap oxygen-depolarized chlor-alkali cell employing a state-of-the-art silver plated nickel screen electrode (ESNS®) were studied. For doing a thorough research, we selected the process parameters from both cathodic and anodic compartments. Seven process parameters were studied including anolyte pH, temperature, flow rate and brine concentration from the anode side, oxygen temperature and flow rate from the cathode side and the applied current density. The effect of these parameters on CCE was determined quantitatively. A feed forward neural network model with the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) back propagation...

Analysis and Comparison of Different Approaches to Testing Representational Models for Brain Activity Patterns

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mirzazadeh, Pouneh (Author) ; Sharifitabar, Mohsen (Supervisor) ; Nili, Hamed (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
The representation concept links the information processed by the brain back to the world and enables us to understand what the brain does at a functional level.Representational models specify how activity patterns in the population of neurons relate to sensory stimuli, motor responses, or cognitive processes. In an experimental context, representational models can be defined as hypotheses about the distribution of activity profiles across experimental conditions. Three different methods are currently being used to test such hypotheses: encoding analysis, pattern component modeling (PCM), and representational similarity analysis (RSA). All three evaluate the second moment of the distribution...

The effect of nanoparticles on the mass transfer in Liquid–Liquid extraction

    , Article Chemical Engineering Communications ; Volume 202, Issue 5 , Sep , 2015 , Pages 600-605 ; 00986445 (ISSN) Mirzazadeh Ghanadi, A ; Heydari Nasab, A ; Bastani, D ; Seife Kordi, A. A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This article investigates the effect of nanoparticles on mass transfer in the liquid–liquid extraction for the chemical system of n-butanol–succinic acid–water. For this purpose, nanofluids containing various concentrations of ZnO, carbon nanotubes (CNT), and TiO2 nanoparticles in water, as base fluid, were prepared. To examine the flow mode effect on mass transfer rate, different fluid modes including dropping and jetting were employed in the process. Results show that mass transfer rate enhancement depends on the kinds and the concentration of nanoparticles and the modes of flow. It was observed that after adding nanoparticles, the mass transfer rate significantly increases up to two-fold...

    Uniquely 2-list colorable graphs

    , Article Discrete Applied Mathematics ; Volume 119, Issue 3 , 2002 , Pages 217-225 ; 0166218X (ISSN) Ganjali, Y. G ; Ghebleh, M ; Hajiabolhassan, H ; Mirzazadeh, M ; Sadjad, B. S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
A graph is said to be uniquely list colorable, if it admits a list assignment which induces a unique list coloring. We study uniquely list colorable graphs with a restriction on the number of colors used. In this way, we generalize a theorem which characterizes uniquely 2-list colorable graphs. We introduce the uniquely list chromatic number of a graph and make a conjecture about it which is a generalization of the well-known Brooks' theorem. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V

Design and Fabrication of an Optimized Wake Equalizing Duct in Order to Improve Propulsion System Operation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ali Mirzazadeh, Siamak (Author) ; Seif, Mohammad S (Supervisor) ; Rad, Manouchehr ($item.subfieldsMap.e)
    Abstract
Special geometrical sections, known as “duct”, which can be installed on merchant vessels stern in order to improve propulsion system and propeller performance, today have evolved considerably. The force which produces by the propeller depends on efficiency of propulsion system. In the way of improving the efficiency of propulsion systems, by using these special geometrical sections, to much research have been done from the mid-twentieth century. The Wake Equalizing Ducts (WEDs) in addition to conduct the more uniform fluid flow to the propeller disk (which causes to improve the propeller operation), affect on flow separation in ship stern zone and will decrease the separated flow zone....

    Abstract
Ciprofloxacin is an alternative to vancomycin for treatment of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections. The objective of this study was to optimization of niosomes encapsulated ciprofloxacin and evaluate their antibacterial and anti-biofilm efficacies against ciprofloxacin-resistant methicillin-resistant S. aureus (CR-MRSA) strains. Formulation of niosomes encapsulated ciprofloxacin were optimized by changing the proportions of Tween 60, Span 60, and cholesterol. The optimized ciprofloxacin encapsulated niosomal formulations based on Span 60 and Tween 60 were prepared and characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and...

    Abstract
Vaccines require a period of at least three months for clinical trials, hence a method that can identify elicitation of immune response a few days after the first dose is a necessity. Evolutionary variable selections are modeling approaches for proper manipulation of available data which were used to set up an animal model for classification of time dependent 'HNMR metabolomic profiles and pattern recognition of fluctuations of metabolites in two groups of male rabbits. One group of rabbits was immunized with human red blood cells and the other used as control. Blood was obtained every 48 h from each rabbit for a period of six weeks and the serum monitored for antibodies and metabolites by...
