Surface Modification of Polysulfone Membrane by Plasma Treatment for CO2/CH4 Separation

Abstract
Low frequency (LF) O2 plasma was used to modify the surface of polysulfone (PSF) gas separation membranes. The effect of treatment time and plasma power input on the membranes was also investigated. Pure CO2 and CH4 gas permeation measurements were performed before and after plasma treatment. The results showed the increase of permeability of the treated membranes due to surface ablation and surface polarization. However, the CO2/CH4 permselectivity of the treated membranes varied from 7.7 to 45.3 depending on the treatment conditions. Abstract
Phase noise is one of the most important specifications of microwave oscillators. External factors such as mechanical vibrations increase the phase noise of the oscillator. A novel technique is introduced to reduce vibration-induced phase noise using inter-injection locking of two coupled oscillators. Two similar oscillators with equal free running frequencies are chosen and are subjected to sinusoidal vibration. Abstract

In this study, thermo-mechanical behavior of an austenitic stainless steel AISI316L was investigated using mathematical modeling and experimental analysis during warm rolling process. First, the thermo-mechanical analysis was carried out employing the finite element software, Abaqus CAE, to assess temperature, strain, velocity and stress distribution during rolling. In this research, the hot and warm rolling of stainless steel 304 was studied. First the rolling process was simulated using Finite Element Method software ABAQUS and the distribution of temperature and strain in the process under discontinuous conditions were predicted. A mathematical model was developed to assess thermomechanical behavior of work rolls during warm rolling processes of AA2017. A combined finite element analysis-slab method was first developed to determine thermal and mechanical responses of the strip being rolled under steady-state conditions; Then, the calculated roll pressure and temperature field were utilized as the governing boundary conditions for the thermomechanical problem of the work roll. Mechanical behavior of aluminum-magnesium alloy, AA5083, was studied at high temperatures using hot tensile testing together with uniaxial creep experiments.
