    Abstract
This paper studies the problem of secure and resilient distributed cooperative control for autonomous vehicles under false data injection attacks on the vehicular communication net-work. We propose a model-based scheme to detect unknown data falsification attacks using the predicted traj ectory in a distributed nonlinear model predictive control problem. First, as a local agent, each autonomous vehicle stores the information received from its neighboring vehicles to clarify anomalies. The recorded data is investigated over a temporal moving observation window which contains different prediction sequences of the distributed nonlinear model predictive control problem in the previous times. In...

On The Non-Linear Behavior of Continuous Beam to Column Connection

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rahmani, Ahmad (Author) ; Moghadam, Hasan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A special steel beam-to-column connection, named Khor-jini, is commonly used for steel framing system in Iran. In this system, two continuous beams are passed next to the columns and are connected to the column side using seated brackets. This type of connection has been common in Iran from the late past. Unfortunately, the seismic behavior of Khorjini frames had not been sufficiently studied prior to Manjil Earthquake of 1990. Due to very large damages which occurred in steel structures especially in connections during the said earthquake, the seismic behavior of this type of connection was studied and some of its weak points were recognized. In this study non-linear...

Lifetime-Aware Resource Allocation in Cloud Computing for Energy Optimization

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Moghadam, Marziyeh (Author) ; Goudarzi, Maziar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Cloud computing is a way to increase capacity or add capabilities dynamically without investing in new infrastructure. The purpose of this project is the use of specialized algorithms for efficient energy management for cloud computing environments. One of the issues that is very important with respect to cloud computing is considering lifetime of servers or physical machines. Servers are some of the most important and critical elements of cloud computing. Server costseffect on the costs of the entire cloud computing system and the interference of serverseffects on entire system. Lifetime of each sever is dependent on a few factors, the most important of which is the number of switching...

Model-Based Reasoning Based on Giere’s Explanation of Model

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hashemi, Amin (Author) ; Heidari, Moghadam (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the present research, model-based reasoning is introduced and explained based on Giere’s explanation of model. In other word, this research could be regarded as a reconstruction of model in Giere’s books and papers due to prpose a clear explanation of model-based reasoning. In the second chapter, after the introduction, the concept of model in Giere’s distinguished book, “Explainnig Science: A Cognitive Approach” (1988) is introduced and analyzed. In the second chapter, however, the concept of model in Giere’s recent works is traced. “An agent-based account of model” and “focusing on functionality rather than ontology” could be explained as the two important differences between his...

    , Article International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering ; Volume 89, Issue 1 , 2012 , Pages 20-52 ; 00295981 (ISSN) Hejranfar, K ; Kamali Moghadam, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
Three preconditioners proposed by Eriksson, Choi and Merkel, and Turkel are implemented in a 2D upwind Euler flow solver on unstructured meshes. The mathematical formulations of these preconditioning schemes for different sets of primitive variables are drawn, and their eigenvalues and eigenvectors are compared with each other. For this purpose, these preconditioning schemes are expressed in a unified formulation. A cell-centered finite volume Roe's method is used for the discretization of the preconditioned Euler equations. The accuracy and performance of these preconditioning schemes are examined by computing steady low Mach number flows over a NACA0012 airfoil and a two-element...

    Abstract
A novel molecularly imprinted xerogel (MIX) based on organically modified silica (ORMOSIL) was successfully prepared for on-line capillary microextraction (CME) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The sol-gel-based xerogel was prepared using only one precursor and exhibited extensive selectivity towards triazines along with significant thermal and chemical stability. Atrazine was selected as a model template molecule and 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylmethacrylate (TMSPMA) as a precursor in which the propylmethacrylate moiety was responsible for van der Waals, dipole-dipole, and hydrogen-bond interactions with the template. This moiety plays a key role in creation of...

    Abstract
Preconditioned characteristic boundary conditions (BCs) are implemented at artificial boundaries for the solution of the two- and three-dimensional preconditioned Euler equations at low Mach number flows. The preconditioned compatibility equations and the corresponding characteristic variables (or the Riemann invariants) based on the characteristic forms of preconditioned Euler equations are mathematically derived for three preconditioners proposed by Eriksson, Choi and Merkle, and Turkel. A cell-centered finite volume Roe's method is used for the discretization of the preconditioned system of equations on unstructured meshes. The accuracy and performance of the preconditioned characteristic...

Models for Technology Assessment and Management of Gas Flare and Developing Strategies for Reducing Flared Gas

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Moghadam, Morteza (Author) ; Saboohi, Yadollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The need for planning for the management and recovery of flare gases is an important issue in the energy sector of the country. On a day, about 46 million cubic meters of gas in Iran is burning in the torch, which in addition to the destruction of non-renewable energies, contributes to environmental pollution and emissions of greenhouse gases. Gas burning is one of the few pollutant activities that is due to short-term economic revenues, system design weaknesses, and lack of management in the operation process, with no service provided or value added. Iran is ranked third in the world according to satellite data among the countries that are burning flares. Accordingly, by burning 17/7...

Solving fuzzy quadratic programming problems based on ABS algorithm

    , Article Soft Computing ; Volume 23, Issue 22 , 2019 , Pages 11343-11349 ; 14327643 (ISSN) Ghanbari, R ; Ghorbani Moghadam, K ; Sharif University of Technology
    Springer Verlag  2019
    Abstract
Recently, Ghanbari and Mahdavi-Amiri (Appl Math Model 34:3363–3375, 2010) gave the general compromised solution of an LR fuzzy linear system using ABS algorithm. Here, using this general solution, we solve quadratic programming problems with fuzzy LR variables. We convert fuzzy quadratic programming problem to a crisp quadratic problem by using general solution of fuzzy linear system. By using this method, the crisp optimization problem has fewer variables in comparison with other methods, specially when rank of the coefficient matrix is full. Thus, solving the fuzzy quadratic programming problem by using our proposed method is computationally easier than the solving fuzzy quadratic...

The effects of current density, initial ciprofloxacin concentration, time, pH, and electrolyte concentration on the removal efficiency of ciprofloxacin were investigated. Additionally, ANN and LSSVM models were used to predict ciprofloxacin removal. The results showed that the BDD anode was effective in removing ciprofloxacin from water, with complete removal of 10 mg...

Dynamic lane changing control of vehicle platoon

    , Article 2023 31st International Conference on Electrical Engineering, ICEE 2023 ; 2023 , Pages 432-436 ; 979-835031256-0 (ISBN) Saadati Moghadam, A ; Haeri, M ; Sharif University of Technology
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2023
    Abstract
In this paper, a cooperative approach for control heterogeneous connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) platoon considering lane-change maneuvers is proposed. In complex dynamic traffic environment, the speed of the surrounding vehicles of CAVs changes dynamically. Thus, the lane changing vehicle requires considering velocity fluctuations to achieve safe driving. The aim of this study is to combine dynamic path planning based on a cubic curve and model predictive control (MPC) with collision avoidance constraint to track an optimally generated path. The proposed control performs as a maneuver switching model including the vehicle's continuous states and discrete maneuver transition rule for...

The socioeconomic and demographic determinants of crime in Iran (a regional panel study)

    , Article European Journal of Law and Economics ; Volume 32, Issue 1 , 2011 , Pages 99-114 ; 09291261 (ISSN) Keshavarz Haddad, G ; Markazi Moghadam, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
The raising trend both in violent and property crime are of major concern in Iran. Using a panel data modeling (province wide), the paper provides an econometrics assessment of the relationship between crime against properties and violent crimes as functions of deterrent, social, economic and demographic factors in Iran, in the framework of Becker-Ehrlich crime supply theory. The findings indicate that, although deterrence hypothesis is not confirmed for burglary and assault, it explains the variations of murders and threats. Economic factors play key role in burglary and threat explanation, but they do not affect willful murders, however, Literacy explains both murders and threats. Average...

Rotary magnetohydrodynamic micropump based on slug trapping valve

    , Article Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems ; Volume 20, Issue 1 , December , 2011 , Pages 260-269 ; 10577157 (ISSN) Moghadam, M. E ; Shafii, M. B ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
A novel rotary magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) (RMHD) micropump is presented in this paper in order to both benefit exclusive advantages from the MHD micropumps and eliminate the current obstacles in their implementation. Lorentz force, which is the actuation mechanism in RMHD, is used to propel a mercury slug in a circular microchannel in order to suck the working fluid from the inlet and pump it to the outlet. This idea is integrated with a valve which prevents the working fluid from passing through, while allowing the mercury slug to pass, during each pumping loop. The performance of a fabricated RMHD is evaluated, considering parameters such as pressure difference, running duration, electric...

Sensorless control of PMSMs with tolerance for delays and stator resistance uncertainties

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics ; Volume 28, Issue 3 , 2013 , Pages 1391-1399 ; 08858993 (ISSN) Moghadam, M. A. G ; Tahami, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Position sensorless control of ac machines at zero and low speed is possible using high-frequency carrier injection methods. These methods utilize anisotropic properties of rotor. Therefore, they may lose their efficiency for nonsalient machines or machines with small rotor saliency. In these machines, measurement noise and offset, existing delays, as well as model uncertainties may lead to inaccurate estimation of rotor position. Stator resistance which is usually neglected in these methods may also lead to a considerable error especially in machines with small rotor saliency. In this paper, a new position estimation method is presented, and it is shown that in comparison to conventional...
