    Abstract
Conditions for an efficient ligand-free Heck C-C coupling reaction of aryl iodides and bromides with terminal olefins under aerobic conditions have been developed. Critical to the success of this new protocol is the use of palladium acetate as an extremely active catalyst for the Heck reaction in water and aqueous media. Both the base and the solvent were found to have a fundamental influence on the efficiency of the reaction, with K2CO3 and a mixture of (2:1) H2O/DMSO being the optimal base and solvent, respectively

The reaction follows second order kinetics with the rate constant k = 0.163(2) M -1 S -1 and its increasingly strong absorption at 520 nm clearly indicate the formation of a μ-oxo...

Fragility Curves for Concrete Gravity Dams Based on Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Moradi Shoeili, zahra (Author) ; Ghaemian, Mohsen (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Concrete dams are one of the most important infrastructures in any country. In recent years new safety standards, such as the analysis of concrete dams in various modes of potential failure or performance-based design are proposed. Many of existing dams may fail to meet revised safety criteria. For this reason it is necessary to control built dams with this new standards. In this reseach, fragility assessment is used for rational safety evalution and decision-making. fragility curves are defined by the probability of a structural limit. We examined the fragility curves for the nonlinear behavior and safety of the dam under earthquakes. fragility curves based on the cracking area are more...

    Abstract
Abstract: Polyoxometalate-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@SiO2–MnPOW) were successfully synthesized via covalent anchoring of Mn(II)-substituted phosphotungstate on ammonium-modified Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles. The complete characterization of nanoparticles has been carried out by scanning electron microscope, energy-dispersive X-ray, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared and elemental analysis. The resulting nanocomposites were efficient catalysts for the selective oxidation of sulfides with different green oxidants in good to excellent yields and also high selectivity. Leaching and recycling tests showed that the nanocatalyst can be reused several times without...

    Abstract
A heterogeneous nanocatalyst was prepared via covalent anchoring of dioxomolybdenum(VI) Schiff base complex on core-shell structured Fe3O4@SiO2. The properties and the nature of the surface-fixed complex have been identified by a series of characterization techniques such as SEM, EDX, XRD, TGA, FT-IR, and VSM. The synthesized hybrid material was an efficient nanocatalyst for selective oxidation of olefins to corresponding epoxides with t-BuOOH in high yields and selectivity. The catalyst could be conveniently recovered by applying an external magnetic field and reused several times without significant loss of efficiency. © 2016 Taylor and Francis

    Abstract
Heterogeneous nanoscale catalyst was successfully synthesized via anchoring of oxoperoxo molybdenum(VI) complex on the chloro-functionalized SBA-15. The mesoporous nanomaterials, MoO3(sal-phz)/SBA-15 (where sal-phz is salicylidene 2-picoloyl hydrazine) were identified by several characterization techniques. MoO3(sal-phz)/SBA-15 and MoO3(sal-phz) were also treated as catalysts in the olefins epoxidation reactions. Both homogenous and heterogeneous catalysts exhibit outstanding activity and selectivity for epoxide with tert-BuOOH in decane as oxidant at 95 °C. In addition, the heterogeneous nanocatalyst was chemically stable and can be efficiently reused for at least six cycles without a...

    Abstract
In this study, the existence of a sinusoidal splitter on the formation and distribution of hydrogen and air co-jets are investigated in a dual-combustion ramjet engine. The main scope of this research is to analyze the comprehensive flow structure and flame features directly downstream of the sinusoidal splitter. In this work, shockwave/shear-layer interactions behind the sinusoidal splitter are thoroughly studied through a computational fluid dynamic approach. Two different splitter profiles are compared with a simple splitter to demonstrate the main effects of multi shock wave interactions on fuel distribution and penetrations. To simulate co-air jet, Reynolds Average Navier-Stocks...
