Abstract
This paper presents a new optimization-based approach to determine the class of stabilizing control structures with the necessary set of feedback links for interconnected systems. The proposed approach relies on a graph theoretic interpretation and its equivalence in terms of binary linear programs (BLP). To carry out the primary goal, first, the stabilizability of an LTI system under the decentralized control structure is presented in terms of a BLP. Next, two graph-based criteria are proposed to characterize stabilizing control structures with the required feedback links. Finally, all possible stabilizing control structures with the necessary feedback links are derived via solving a set of...

Analysis of Structured Controllers Stabilization: A Graph Theoretic Approach
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Babazadeh, Maryam (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis, a new method is proposed to find the class of stabilizing control structures for interconnected systems from a graphtheoretic
perspective. The objective is to classify all possible control structures (static or dynamic), capable of stabilizing the closedloop system. The method can be formulated by using the characteristics of fixed modes of the system for arbitrary control structures. To this end, first, a method is proposed based on solving a set of discrete linear programming to determine whether a system is stabilizable via a decentralized controller. Subsequently, by solving a set of discrete linear feasibility problems, all possible stabilizing controller structures...

Abstract
According to Arthur (2006, p. 200), “Through the use of literature, a language learning experience might become at the same time a source of immediate pleasure and satisfaction for the student. This possibility makes literature an appealing teaching device for ESL teachers”. However, numerous factors may contribute to the teachers’ lack of interest in using literary texts as a teaching tool. This study was an attempt to investigate Iranian EFL teachers’ attitude toward using literature in language classes and their perception toward the probable reasons of some teachers’ lack of interest in doing so. Altogether forty-four language teachers (19 females and 25 males, with a mean age of 26)...
The Study of Quark-Gluon Plasma by Flow Harmonics in Heavy Ion Collisions
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Rouhani, Shahin (Supervisor) ; Arfaei, Hesamoddin (Supervisor)
Abstract
A new phase of matter which is known as quark-gluon plasma is created after ultrarelativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions. Experimental data imply that hydrodynamic equations can explain this new phase of matter. On the other hand, observations show that the geometry of initial energy distribution fluctuates event-by-event, even in a given centrality class. Also, the geometry of initial state distribution reflects itself as different samples of final particle spectrum results by the hydrodynamic evolution. The particle momentum distribution can be expanded by Fourier series which its coefficients called harmonic flows. We can only study the effects of hydrodynamics on initial fireball by flow...
Fault Diagnosis of Rotating Machinery using Multi-Sensor Data
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Arghand, Hesamoddin (Supervisor) ; Behzad, Mehdi (Supervisor)
Abstract
Vibration signals have been used for fault diagnosis frequently. These signals are captured using sensors, which are mounted on different locations of the equipment. Using data captured from different locations of the equipment, will result in roubustness of the fault diagnosis model. But sometimes the predictions of sensors mounted on different locations, happen to conflict. These conflicts among sources of information, make it hard to decide about the overal health state of the equipment. In fact, these conflicts causes a kind of uncertainty called epistemic uncertainty. A powerful mathematical framework for managing epistemic uncertainties, is Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence. An...
