    Abstract
    A major problem in a multiple output converter structure is the different power flow via its various outputs. This problem leads to unwanted input DC-link voltage. This paper studies full bridge based DC-DC converters with multiple outputs. The effect of power flow variation is studied and a regenerative converter topology which controls the DC-link voltage by space voltage vector modulation technique is proposed. The proposed converter has a fast response to control the DC-link voltage in an acceptable band. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the analytical studies. © 2018 IEEE

    Abstract
    Nanosecond pulsed-power generators have many applications in industries. As the rise time and fall time of conventional semiconductor switches are usually more than a few nanoseconds, it is necessary to employ special switches or new pulse generating methods to achieve nanosecond pulses. A common method for producing narrow pulse voltage waveforms is using the reverse recovery process of diodes. In this method, a super fast recovery diode is used as an opening switch in an inductor current path.     Abstract
    The lack of turn-off ability makes the spark gap-based Marx generator uncontrollable in terminating the output pulse. In addition, there are some limitations for rise time and voltage gain improvements in the conventional critically-damped Marx design. In this paper, an efficient over-damped design of Marx circuit is proposed, which leads to a shorter rise time as well as a larger voltage gain. A chopping magnetic switch is employed to achieve the desired values of the fall time and full width at half maximum (FWHM).     Several semi-analytical models are considered for a double-gyre problem in a turbulent flow regime for which a reference fully numerical eddy-resolving solution is obtained. The semi-analytical models correspond to solving the depth-averaged Navier–Stokes equations using the spectral Galerkin approach. The robustness of the linear and Smagorinsky eddy-viscosity models for turbulent diffusion approximation is investigated.     Abstract
    The current study used the horizontal slices method to develop a new formulation to calculate active pressure on retaining walls. In this method, the failure wedge is assumed to be circular in cohesive-frictional soil. In addition to the formula, graphs are provided to determine the center and radius of failure without need for calculation to determine the pressure exerted on the retaining wall. A comparison of the results of the proposed method with previous methods shows that the active pressure calculated using a circular failure wedge was higher than when using a plate failure wedge; confirming the importance of the circular failure wedge.     Waveform design for target identification and classification in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems has been studied in several recent works. In previous works, optimal signals for an estimation algorithm are found assuming that only signal- independent noise exists. This work extends previous research by studying the case where clutter is also present. We develop a procedure to design the optimal waveform which minimizes estimation error at the output of the minimum mean squared error (MMSE) estimators in two scenarios.     Waveform design for target identification and classification in MIMO radar systems has been studied in several recent works. While the previous works assumed that the noise was independent of the transmission signals, here we extend the results to the signal dependent noise (clutter). We consider two scenarios. In the first scenario it is assumed that different transmit antennas see uncorrelated aspects of the target. In the second scenario, we consider the correlated target. As clutter is dependent to signal, target estimation error cannot vanish only by increasing the transmission power. Due to very large magnitude of its output voltage and very fast rise time, Marx generator is the first choice in lots of pulsed power applications. A significant barrier in the implementation of this generators are the switches with witch the structure is made. The short magnitude nominal voltage and current of the solid state switches lead to use of Spark Gaps in which the determinative parameter of the switch to turn on, is its breakdown voltage.     In this thesis, we investigate interactions of a double-gyre in the North Atlantic and the earth’s Chandler wobble using a single-layer ocean model based on depth-averaged Navier-Stokes equations and multiple-scale spectral solutions to it. The overall transfers of energy and angular momentum from the double-gyre to the Chandler wobble are used to calibrate the turbulence parameters of the idealized ocean model and Smagorinsky eddy viscosity is used to estimate turbulent diffusion terms. Our model is tested against a multilayer quasi-geostrophic ocean model in turbulent regime, and base states used in parameter identification are obtained from mesoscale eddy resolving numerical simulations....

    Colloidal stability of dextran (Dex) and Dex/poly ethylene glycol (PEG) coated TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were investigated. The particles were successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal assisted sol-gel technique. The results of Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectrophotometry showed that Dex and PEG additions during hydrothermal process (HTP) led to the formation of long-term (more than 60 days) stable colloids, while the addition of dispersants after HTP did not have a significant impact on the colloidal stability of NPs.     In the present study, the Ricci curvature is defined on the graphs by using two methods and the lower bounds are obtained. In the first method, which is related to Bakry and Emery, a definition for Ricci curvature and lower bounds would be obtained by using Curvature-Dimension inequalities.The second method which is related to Ollivier, is based on the fact that in Riemannian Geometry,the Ricci Curvature controls the velocity of convergence and divergence of emanated geodesics from a same source. Next, the more Curvature-Dimension inequalities for Ricci curvature would be obtained by using local clustering. Finally, the Bonnet-Myers theorem would be proved on the graphs.

    In this research, the properties of Dolomite Graphite refractories with different additives were evaluated. The samples were prepared with various amounts of Graphite and resin content. After preparation of the samples, the physical, mechanical properties, slag corrosion and thermal shock resistance were evaluated. The properties of the samples were evaluated up to 11% total Carbon (10% Graphite and 1% residual Carbon from resin) in the system.
