    In this paper, a new spreading technique for intensity modulation direct detection fiber-optic code-division multiple-access (FO-CDMA) communication systems is proposed. This new spreading technique is based on generalized optical orthogonal codes (OOC) with large cardinality and minimal degradation in performance when compared with a more optimum system, namely, an optical CDMA system using OOC with autocorrelation and cross-correlation value bounded by one, i.e., OOC (λ = 1).     Abstract
    The optimized minimum-energy geometries of different macrocyclic amines and their protonated structures were determined by using ab initio and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. All the gas phase optimizations and energy calculations were performed at the DFT/B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. The HF/6-31 + G(d,p) level was used for all single point calculations in the solution phase. Geometry optimizations indicate that the most stable structures are stabilized by intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The proton affinity (PA) of macrocyclic amines is controlled by the strength of intramolecular hydrogen bonds of macrocyclic amines. These hydrogen bonds strongly influence the basicity...

    This study presents a new approach for designing optimal sensors layout based on accuracy of defect mapping. It is obtained from combination of the reference-free damage detection technique and the probability-based diagnostic imaging method. Considering damage indices based on continuous wavelet transform of sensors signals, the core of this study involves with development of a database of continuous wavelet transform features of a crack.     The differential equations describing reaction-diffusion systems in molecular communication are non-linear and do not admit closed-form solutions in general. Consequently, characterizing optimal modulation and coding strategies is a key challenge in molecular communication. In this paper, we consider a concrete example and illustrate the application of tools from real and complex analysis to study this difficult problem.     Abstract
    One of the foremost challenges in modulation scheme for molecular communication is positivity of the transmission signal (only a positive concentration of molecules can be released in the environment). This restriction makes handling of the InterSymbol Interference (ISI) a challenge for molecular communication. In this paper, a novel modulation is proposed which introduces use of negative signals to ameliorate the transmission link performance. A precoder scheme based on the diffusion channel model is proposed and shown to have a significant improvement compared to previous modulation schemes such as CSK and MCSK

    In the present work tensile and tear properties of commercially pure titanium with different rolling reductions and specimens directions were investigated. The experimental results showed that in low levels of deformation the microstructure refining and mechanical twins have fewer significant effects on the anisotropic behavior of both tear and tensile properties and the crystallographic texture controls the mechanical properties anisotropy.     Abstract
    Surfaces of cast 1100 aluminum were treated by multi-pass friction stir processing (MP-FSP), which is a solid-state microstructural modification technique using frictional heat and stirring action. An improvement in the mechanical properties was accomplished due to the microstructural modification and reduction of porosities. The yield strengths of the MP-FSPed specimens were significantly increased to about 1.4 times versus that of the base metal. The elongation of MP-FSP sample is about 30% higher than that of the base metal. Also the ultimate tensile strength and hardness of MP-FSPed specimens are improved.     Abstract
    To improve the thermal stability of starch in water-based drilling fluid, monoethanolamine (MEA) was added, and the effect was investigated by laboratory experiment. The experimental results show that the addition of monoethanolamine (MEA) increases the apparent viscosity, plastic viscosity, dynamic shear force, and static shear force of the drilling fluid, and reduces the filtration rate of drilling fluid and thickness of mud cake apparently. By creating hydrogen bonds with starch polymer, the monoethanolamine can prevent hydrolysis of starch at high temperature.     Abstract
    The interference channel with a cognitive relay is a variation of the classical two-user interference channel in which a relay aids the transmission among the users. The relay is assumed to have genie-aided cognition: that is it has full, a-priori, knowledge of the messages to be transmitted. We obtain a new outer bound for this channel model and prove capacity for a class of channels in which the transmissions of the two users are non interfering. This capacity result improves on a previous result for the Gaussian case in which the capacity was proved to within a gap of 3 bits/s/Hz

    Abstract
    Indoors wireless infrared transmission is severely impaired by ambient noise. In addition, in a multiple user network, since many users share the same physical channel, considerable amount of multi-user interference will also be introduced. In this paper, Infrared CDMA techniques are proposed to combat the effect of ambient and multi-user interference. Our analysis is based on Photon-Counting approach and Bit Error Rate is given versus signal power. The results show that using infrared CDMA techniques, transmission can be performed well below ambient noise power with transmission power that satisfies eye-safety power regulations

Using this model, a DSPF can benefit from the parallelism capabilities of distributed clusters. Choosing a reasonable number of vertices for each operator and mapping the vertices to the appropriate processing resources significantly affect the overall system performance.
