    Abstract
Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is designed to support a wide range of Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for different applications. Unlike the single service networks, a priority based mechanism is needed for specifying the transmission order of packets belonging to different traffic sources according to their QoS characteristics, which is called packet scheduling. In WiMAX standard, packet scheduling algorithm is not defined and its design is left for researchers. In this work, we propose a distributed uplink packet scheduling algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, when uplink capacity cannot satisfy the required resource of connections, according to traffic...

    Academic Press  2016
    Abstract
In this paper, some important circuit parameters of a monolayer armchair graphene nanoribbon (GNR) field effect transistor (GNRFET) in different structures are studied. Also, these structures are Ideal with no defect, 1SVGNRFET with one single vacancy defect, and 3SVsGNRFET with three SV defects. Moreover, the circuit parameters are extracted based on Semi Classical Top of Barrier Modeling (SCTOBM) method. The I-V characteristics simulations of Ideal GNRFET, 1SVGNRFET and 3SVsGNRFET are used for comparing with SCTOBM method. These simulations are solved with Poisson-Schrodinger equation self-consistently by using Non- Equilibrium Green Function (NEGF) and in the real space approach. The...

    Abstract
Graphene nanoribbon field effect transistors are promising devices for beyond-CMOS nanoelectronics. Graphene is a semiconductor material with zero bandgap and its bandgap must be changed. One of the opening bandgap methods is using graphene nanoribbons. By applying a defect, there is more increase on band gap of monolayer armchair graphene nanoribbon field effect transistor. So, by applying more than one defect, we can reach to much more increase in bandgap of graphene nanoribbon field effect transistors (GNRFET). In this paper, double-gated monolayer armchair graphene nanoribbon field effect transistors (GNRFET) with one single vacancy (1SV) defect (so-called 1SVGNRFET)are simulated and...

    Abstract
In this paper, two different statistical approaches are used for duration prediction of the Farsi language. These two statistical models are Neural Networks (NN) and Classification And Regression Trees (CART). The first step in this work was to create a database and develop a flexible feature extraction and selection module. In the next step, the output of the feature selection module was used to train both models. The results of the trained models are further studied to determine the most important parameters affecting the syllable duration in Farsi, The model accuracy is evaluated by using separate training and test data. In the third step of this work, ah automatic rule generator module...

    Abstract
The formation of water drops as a Newtonian fluid and formation of a shear-thinning non-Newtonian fluid, Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (CMC) from a capillary into different bulk fluids are experimentally investigated. A high speed camera is used to visualize the images of the drops and an image-processing code employed to determine the drop properties from each image. It was found that the properties of the water drops when they are drooped into the liquids bulk fluids such as toluene and n-hexane are almost the same while they differed substantially when they were drooped into the air bulk fluid. It is shown that during the formation of water drop in all three kinds of bulk fluids, the drop...

    Abstract
A new magnetic heterogeneous copper catalyst was prepared by immobilization of copper ions onto a cross-linked polymeric nanocomposite composed of starch grafted polyacrylamide and functionalized Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles. The resulting support was loaded with large amounts of copper ions (1.6 mmol g-1). The prepared catalyst is highly active in Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of different azides and alkynes at low catalyst amounts. Various corresponding 1,2,3-triazoles were produced with high yields in mild conditions. The catalyst was easily recovered and reused for ten cycles of reaction and no significant loss of catalytic activity was observed

    Abstract
A noncovalent functionalization of the edges of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) with β-cyclodextrin-graft-hyperbranched polyglycerol (β-CD-g-HPG) was successfully performed via a host-guest interaction. The results showed that β-CD-g-HPG disperses the graphene sheets better than pure β-CD or HPG. The resulted supramolecular structure is stable in neutral water medium more than one week. However, in acidic medium the host-guest interaction is collapsed and graphene nanosheets precipitate. © 2017, Copyright © Taylor & Francis

    Abstract
In the present study, a novel theoretical model is developed, based on the energy method, to predict the equivalent mechanical properties of a new morphing structure with zero Poisson's ratio, which is composed of continuous fiber reinforced composite struts. Due to the employing glass fiber in fabricating the proposed cruciform honeycomb, higher strength than the structures made of pure isotropic materials is obtained. The use of cells with a zero Poisson's ratio also increases the flexural strength of the structure. In the continuation of the paper, by examining the geometric effects on the equivalent properties, a parametric study is performed. Then, using the appropriate failure...

    Abstract
A novel superabsorbent composite based on kappa-Carrageenan (κC) was prepared by graft copolymerization of acrylamide (AAm) onto κC in the presence of bentonite powder using methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinking agent, ammonium persulfate (APS) as an initiator, and sodium carbonate as a pore-forming agent. The swelling behavior in distilled water and in solutions with different pH values was investigated. The results indicated that with increasing carrageenan/bentonite weight ratio, the swelling capacity is increased but the gel content is decreased. The swelling rate of the hydrogels was improved by introducing sodium carbonate as pore-forming agent. The prepared superadsorbent...

Stable and efficient operation of a large-bore copper vapor laser with funnel-shaped, grooved copper electrodes

    , Article Laser Physics ; Volume 27, Issue 3 , 2017 ; 1054660X (ISSN) Sadighi Bonabi, R ; Pasandideh, K ; Zand, M ; Nazari Mahroo, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Using an appropriate design of electrodes and adjustment of the thyratron decoupling circuit as a high-repetition-rate and high-voltage switch, very stable operation of a copper vapor laser at high pressures was obtained. This was achieved by canceling the intense filamentation in the laser plasma at the higher pressures. The transverse grooves on the inner surface of the funnel-shaped copper electrodes permit operation of the laser up to 100 torr. This design reduces the cathode-fall voltage, and as a result reduces the thermal loading in the cathode-fall region. The optimum pressure was 80 torr. At this condition the output power was more than that observed with expensive molybdenum...

    Abstract
Negative Bias Temperature Instability (NBTI) in CMOS devices is known as the major source of aging effect which is leading to performance and reliability degradation in modern processors. Instruction-cache (I-cache), which has a decisive role in performance and reliability of the processor, is one of the most prone modules to NBTI. Variations in duty cycle and long-time residency of data blocks in I-cache lines (stress condition) are the two major causes of NBTI acceleration. This paper proposes a novel I-cache management technique to minimize the aging effect in the I-cache SRAM cells. The proposed technique consists of a smart controller that monitors the cache lines behavior and...

How important is the liquid bulk viscosity effect on the dynamics of a single cavitation bubble?

    , Article Ultrasonics Sonochemistry ; Volume 49 , 2018 , Pages 47-52 ; 13504177 (ISSN) Nazari Mahroo, H ; Pasandideh, K ; Navid, H. A ; Sadighi Bonabi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2018
    Abstract
The influence of liquid bulk viscosity on the dynamics of a single cavitation bubble is numerically studied via Gilmore model with a new modified boundary condition at bubble interface. In order to more accurately describe the interior gas thermodynamics, a hydrochemical model is used. The numerical results for an argon bubble in water and aqueous H2SO4 show that including the liquid bulk viscosity slightly affects the bubble dynamics in collapse phase. This effect becomes significant only at high ultrasonic amplitudes and high viscosities. Moreover, the maximum pressure value inside the bubble is much more influenced than the maximum temperature. This finding lends support to results of...

    Abstract
Pulsating heat pipes are cooling devices that are partially filled with working fluid. Working fluid thermophysical properties affect the thermal performance of pulsating heat pipes. In this research, the effect of adding a Triton X-100 surfactant to pure water and using the mixture as a working fluid is investigated experimentally. The results indicate that adding surfactant leads to improvement in the thermal performance of the pulsating heat pipe. In particular, the maximum of the thermal resistance improvement is about 61%, which is attributed to 0.01% surfactant concentration. Higher heat transfer ability is attributed to lower surface tension and the contact angle of the mixture...

Influence of liquid compressibility on the dynamics of single bubble sonoluminescence

    Abstract
The main effects of liquid compressibility on the dynamics of single bubble sonoluminescence are investigated via three different radial dynamics models. In order to precise description of the interior gas thermodynamics, a hydrochemical model is used. In the case of an argon gas bubble in water, the results obtained with the Gilmore model and the Lezzi and Prosperetti model are compared with those resulting from the Keller and Miksis model. It is shown that the variation of liquid density at bubble surface in a very short time interval around the end of the bubble collapse, which has been incorporated into the first two models, strongly influences the bubble cavitation dynamics at higher...

    Abstract
Pulsating Heat Pipes (PHPs) are cooling devices that are compact in size and have an ability to transfer heat in low temperature differences. Working fluids strongly affect the thermal performance of PHPs. In this paper, effects of some thermophysical parameters relating to working fluids, such as boiling point, latent heat of vaporization, surface tension, thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity, are presented based on experimental and numerical studies done in recent years. Addition of nanoparticles to fluids, or making nanofuild, is a new method of improving thermophysical properties of fluids. Recently, many studies are carried out on thermophysical properties of nano-fuild. Results...

    Abstract
Sparse representation can be extended to high dimensions and can be used in many applications, including three-dimensional (3D) Inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging. In this study, the high-dimensional sparse representation problem and a recovery method called high-dimensional smoothed least zero-norm (HDSL0) are formulated. In this method, the theory and computation of tensors and approximating L0 norm using Gaussian functions are used for sparse recovery of high-dimensional data. To enhance the performance of HDSL0, modified regularised high-dimensional SL0 (MRe-HDSL0) algorithm, which benefits from the regularised form of SL0 and an additional hard thresholding step, is...

Influence of liquid density variation on the bubble and gas dynamics of a single acoustic cavitation bubble

    Abstract
The effects of liquid density variation at the bubble surface on the dynamics of a single acoustic cavitation bubble are numerically studied. The Gilmore model together with a comprehensive hydrochemical model is used. The evaporation and condensation of water vapor are included in the hydrochemical model. The simulation results are compared to those resulting from the widely known Keller-Miksis model, which assumes a constant liquid density at the bubble surface. The numerical results for a single argon bubble in water reveal that the pressure and the temperature inside the bubble in collapse phase significantly increase, when the non-constant liquid density is used. These differences...
