    Abstract
The formation of water drops as a Newtonian fluid and formation of a shear-thinning non-Newtonian fluid, Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (CMC) from a capillary into different bulk fluids are experimentally investigated. A high speed camera is used to visualize the images of the drops and an image-processing code employed to determine the drop properties from each image. It was found that the properties of the water drops when they are drooped into the liquids bulk fluids such as toluene and n-hexane are almost the same while they differed substantially when they were drooped into the air bulk fluid. It is shown that during the formation of water drop in all three kinds of bulk fluids, the drop...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Nikkhoo, Mohammad (Author) ; Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba (Supervisor) ; Ahadian, Mohammad Mahdi (Supervisor) ; Amini, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Different parts of this research are focused on developing FO membranes and improving their performance. For this purpose, thin film composite (TFC) membranes with fixed composition of polyethersulfone/polyamide (PES/PA) have been used to investigate the effect of nanocomposites containing transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) on their performance. The support layer in all cases is PES, which is prepared through the phase inversion process and does not contain any nanofillers. The modification process takes place in the polyamide layer by dispersing the desired nanoparticles in the aqueous monomer solution necessary to form this active layer. Identification and characterization of...

An Uplink Packet Scheduling Algorithm in Fixed PMP WiMAX Networks with TDD Frame Structure

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nazari, Sonia (Author) ; Beigy, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is one of the most dominant cell-based broadband wireless metropolitan access technologies. Packet scheduling algorithm specifies the packet transmission order. In WiMAX standard, packet scheduling algorithm is not defined and its efficient design is left for developers and researchers. The existing researches in the scope of uplink packet scheduling, which is the most challenging packet scheduling scheme, consider only one cell. However the uplink available resources might not be enough when there are many packets that should be scheduled. To solve this problem, we propose an algorithm that uses the load balancing mechanisms that are...

    Abstract
Entrance of air to close water conduits occurs in many ways. This phenomenon makes displeasing effects on water transport structures. Two-phase flows in closed conduits are studied experimentally, numerically and theoretically. Even after decades, due to the complexity of the subject, these studies still require development and reformation. Numerical and theoretical two-phase models are often limited to a special regime of flow."Volume Of Fluid"(VOF) is a model for non-mixing two-phase flows. "Fluent" software uses this model in this field of flows. Volume of fluid is used successfully in some problems like dam break or rising bubbles. Main disadvantage of this model is distribution of the...

    Abstract
Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is designed to support a wide range of Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for different applications. Unlike the single service networks, a priority based mechanism is needed for specifying the transmission order of packets belonging to different traffic sources according to their QoS characteristics, which is called packet scheduling. In WiMAX standard, packet scheduling algorithm is not defined and its design is left for researchers. In this work, we propose a distributed uplink packet scheduling algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, when uplink capacity cannot satisfy the required resource of connections, according to traffic...

By preparing composites of graphene oxide and polymers,...

Design and Implementation of a Master Robot for a Fracture Reduction Robotic Telesurgery System

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nazari, Kianoosh (Author) ; Farahmand, Farzam (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Common fracture treatments include open reduction and intramedullary nailing technology. However, these methods have disadvantages such as intraoperative X-ray radiation, delayed union or nonunion and postoperative rotation. Robots provide a novel solution to the aforementioned problems while having new challenges. The robotic system used in the study by providing more precise motion and exerting higher amount of forces makes the operation procedure more straightforward. In a normal operation 300-400 N of extension force would be needed which is fully provided by the surgen which leads to physical his/her (khastegi), by using the robotic system however, this force is simply provided without...

    Abstract
In the cloud computing environment, although many processing resources for application software with the volume of calculations The above is available, but it may not work for software that is sensitive to latency. In fact, due to the large distance between users and end devices to cloud servers, sending requests And the required data to the data centers requires a high bandwidth and therefore the data transfer time is also significant. In addition, cloud computing in platforms such as cloud-based IoT architecture faces other challenges such as connectivity, resource limitations of end devices, and security. In order to solve the challenges in the cloud computing environment and respond to...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Behmanesh, Baktash (Author) ; Atarodi, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this project a wide-band inductorless Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) has been designed using 0.18 micrometer CMOS technology. The specification of this amplifier has been explored in frequency band of 330MHz to 10GHz. Wide-band input and output impedance matching, low Noise-Figure (NF), reasonable voltage gain and low power consumption are the main challenges of Low Noise Amplifier design. Without using an inductor a better overall performance of LNA in a wide frequency band as well as a lower chip area has been achieved. In this design a novel noise cancellation technique in common-gate topology has been used for lowering the Noise Figure of the LNA. Group Delay of the designed LNA, which is...

Designing and Fabricating the Active Phase Shifter

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology asoodeh, Alireza (Author) ; Atarodi, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this project, issues related to designing and fabricating active phase shifter blocks on the silicon substrate have been examined. Phase shifter circuits are designed in a way that have the most bandwidth and the less sensitivity to process characteristics changes and environmental conditions. The purpose of this research, is designing an active 6 bits phase shifter. The active phase shifter synthesizes the required phase using a phase interpolation process by adding quadrature phased input signals. It uses a new quadrature all-pass filter for quadrature signaling with a wide bandwidth. Also substitute structure has been suggested to this filter which is the main block in determining...

Design and Fabrication of RFID Front END Transceiver single chip with 2.5W Output Power

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Javidan, Javad (Author) ; Atarodi, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis deals with the front-End of an Integrated RFID Reader operated in 860MHz to 960MHz, which integrates a RF transceiver including PA, LNA and Mixer. In the receiver part, a power amplifier was fabricated and measured and in the transmitter part, LNA and Mixer were designed. There is a growing interest in utilizing CMOS technologies for RF power amplifiers (PAs). Although several advances have been made recently to enable full integration of PAs in CMOS, it is still among the most difficult challenges in achieving a truly single-chip radio system in CMOS. This is exacerbated by supply voltage reduction due to CMOS technology scaling and on-chip passive losses due to the conductive...
