Evaluation of Permeable Pavement in Removing Pollutants from Surface Runoff
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Tajrishi, Masoud (Supervisor) ; Nazari Alavi, Alireza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Urbanization expansion increases impermeable surfaces and ultimately produces more runoff from urban surfaces. The runoff in the urban streets moves the pollution with high levels from the city and then collects into channels where they are transported into the water courses. The most important factor in runoff polluting is sediments. If you remove sediments from runoff, their quality will be improved. One of the effective systems to reduce sediments from the surface runoff is permeable pavement. In this study a simulator system is used. The sample of permeable pavement analysed consisted of two layers of geotextile beddig, filter granular layer (2.36 to 4.75mm), subbase granular layer (4.75...

Abstract
The concerns regarding the consumption of traditional fuels such as oil and coal have driven the proposals for several cleaner alternatives in recent years. Hydrogen energy is one of the most attractive alternatives for the currently used fossil fuels with several superiorities, such as zero-emission and high energy content. Hydrogen has numerous advantages compared to conventional fuels and, as such, has been employed in gas turbines (GTs) in recent years. The main benefit of using hydrogen in power generation with the GT is the considerably lower emission of greenhouse gases. The performance of the GTs using hydrogen as a fuel is influenced by several factors, including the performance of...

Abstract
The formation of water drops as a Newtonian fluid and formation of a shear-thinning non-Newtonian fluid, Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (CMC) from a capillary into different bulk fluids are experimentally investigated. A high speed camera is used to visualize the images of the drops and an image-processing code employed to determine the drop properties from each image. It was found that the properties of the water drops when they are drooped into the liquids bulk fluids such as toluene and n-hexane are almost the same while they differed substantially when they were drooped into the air bulk fluid. It is shown that during the formation of water drop in all three kinds of bulk fluids, the drop...

Abstract
Voluntary turnover has direct and indirect expenses for organizations and for this purpose; it has one of the richest literatures in academic works. Due to the especial role of knowledge workers in organizations, these expenses in knowledge-based organizations are more important and more costly than that of other organizations. One of the latest theories in the field of voluntarily turnover was introduced by Lee and Mitchell (1994) that was named “Unfolding Model of Turnover” to describe the process of decision of voluntary turnover. This theory is distinguished from its similar theories from two main aspects: First, they introduced new elements like shock. Second, they introduced...

Identifying Effective Parameters on Internal Motivation on Delegation Process at Knowledge Based Companies
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Alavi, Babak (Supervisor)
Abstract
It has been reported that in some organizations despite delegation according to its concept, some of the organization members don’t have an internal motivation to use the autonomy that has been delegated to them. This problem might have different aspects. From the self-determination theory perspective, this might be because of unsatisfied basic needs of the person. For example, if all options the person has, are desirable or all of the options are undesirable and the person can’t choose between them. This might result in unsatisfied basic needs of the person. Due to these conditions, there is a probability that she won’t have an internal motivation to use autonomy. In some researches, it has...

Abstract
Static recrystallization and microstructural changes in austenitic stainless steel 304L were studied. The rolling experiments at 200 °C were carried out, and then, annealing treatment was made at temperatures ranging between 500 and 830 °C. A model was also developed to simulate the kinetics of non-isothermal recrystallization within the rolled steel. The distribution of plastic strains during rolling was predicted utilizing an elastic–plastic finite element formulation performed in ABAQUS/Explicit, while the predicted results were used to generate the as-rolled microstructure and to estimate the stored energy. Finally, microstructural–thermal model based on cellular automata was developed...
