Identifying and Rating Indicators for Measuring Iranian Entrepreneurship Ecosystem based on OECD Framework’s Domains with ANDE Method

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Barati, Amir (Author) ; Yavari, Elham (Supervisor) ; Sharif, Hossein (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
“Entrepreneurship ecosystem” is defined as the elements – individuals, organizations or institutions – apart from the individual entrepreneur that are conducive to, or inhibitive of, the choice of a person to become an entrepreneur, or the probabilities of his or her success following launch. Entrepreneurial businesses operate locally or regionally and are therefore subject to local or regional contextual influence. Moreover particularly in larger countries there can exist significant variation in industry structure and economic base across regions, emphasizing the importance of regional focus. Adopting appropriate policies at the regional level need to have a deep and accurate...

A Method for Incremental Learning of Stream Data

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Kashani, Elham Sadat (Author) ; Bagheri Shouraki, Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, the pace of information generation, fast processing and instant decision-making is increasing. In this regard, one of the main needs in the field of data management and processing is stream data processing. Today's world needs new methods to deal with and analyze these data. Two of the most challenging aspects of data streams are (i) concept drift, i.e. evolution of data stream over time, which requires the ability to make timely decisions against the high speed of receiving new data; (ii) limited memory storage and the impracticality of using memory due to the large amount of data. Clustering is one of the common methods for processing data streams, without having basic knowledge...

Winner Strategies in a Simulated Stock Market

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Taherizadeh, Ali (Author) ; Zamani, Shiva (Supervisor) ; Yavari, Elham (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, we explore the dynamics of the stock market using an agent-based simulation platform. Our approach involves creating a multi-strategy market where each agent considers both fundamental and technical factors when determining their strategy. The agents vary in their approach to these factors and the time interval they use for technical analysis. Our findings indicate that investing heavily in reducing the value–price gap was a successful strategy, even in markets where there were no trading forces to reduce this gap. Furthermore, our results remain consistent across various modifications to the simulation’s structure

Applying Gamification in Corporate Entrepreneurship Culture, Specially Missionary Organizations; Through SafirFilm Case Study

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Jafarian, Hamid Reza (Author) ; Yavari, Elham (Supervisor) ; Banki, Sara ($item.subfieldsMap.e)
    Abstract
Although existing literature on organizational culture and its change process contains meaningful and rich theories but our studies show that there is no perfect and detailed framework on linking organizational culture change and corporate entrepreneurship culture. In addition to that, Gamification –defined as taking the game design elements into non-game contexts– is a fruitful and academically rich research area. Fortunately an idea proposed recently to explain a method for enhancements in organizational culture in general, and in corporate entrepreneurship culture in particularby Yavari and Jafarian based on using game mechanisms. In their paper "A Gamification-Based Method for Corporate...

How particle shape affects the flow through granular materials

    , Article Physical Review E - Statistical, Nonlinear, and Soft Matter Physics ; Volume 85, Issue 3 , 2012 ; 15393755 (ISSN) Nemati Hayati, A ; Ahmadi, M. M ; Mohammadi, S
    2012
    Abstract
Flow through the pores of granular materials has many instances in practice. Therefore, it is interesting to realize how some parameters, such as the shape of the particles affect the passing flow. Following the recent mathematical theory proposed by the authors, this paper deals with the issue of how tortuosity and permeability are influenced by the particle shape. Comparison of the results with the experimental data reveals the competency of the theory in predicting the impact of particle geometry

Oxygen diffusion mechanism in MgO-C composites: An artificial neural network approach

    , Article Modelling and Simulation in Materials Science and Engineering ; Volume 20, Issue 1 , December , 2012 ; 09650393 (ISSN) Nemati, A ; Nemati, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
An artificial neural network (ANN) model was used to predict the weight loss of MgO-C composites at different temperatures and graphite contents. The general idea of ANN modeling was presented and after that the empirical weight loss data were used for both model verification and assessment of the oxidation rate predictions. The model was proved to have an astounding power in predicting kinetic parameters of the oxidation process. Graphite oxidation was, for example, found to be controlled by alternative diffusion steps. Plotting the Arrhenius law curves for graphite oxidation indicated a distinguishable slope change at a critical temperature which is related to the graphite content. This...

Fabrication of a form-stable phase change material with green fatty acid and recycled silica nanoparticles from spent lead-acid battery separators with enhanced thermal conductivity

    , Article Thermochimica Acta ; Volume 693 , November , 2020 Nemati, S ; Pircheraghi, G ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2020
    Abstract
Massive amounts of spent lead-acid battery separators with 50 wt % silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) can be recycled for further use. One compelling application is form-stable phase change materials (FSPCMs). This study proposes a novel tertiary eutectic mixture of green and non-toxic lauric acid, palmitic acid, and paraffin, and recycled SiNPs to find a sustainable approach to deal with industrial wastes and energy consumption. Fatty acids and paraffin are promising for thermal energy storage in buildings. However, they lack sufficient thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, and suffer from leakage. To give mechanical strength, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) was added and sintered....

With the optimization of Dolapix CE64 as a dispersant and providing the suspension with 76%wt, a greenware with the density of 56.3% wt was obtained. Differential thermal analysis of green body showed that the existing monomers are removed by the time the body reaches 550°C. In order to access high real in-line transmittance, the microstructure...

    Abstract
TiO2 has been considered the most promising photocatalyst for the degradation of pollutants in air or water; however, it shows poor absorption of visible light and requires ultraviolet (UV) light for activation. We have successfully synthesized a visible-light-active carbon and nitrogen and yttrium tridoped TiO2 catalyst. In this study, Nanocrystalline photocatalysts of TiO2 doped with yttrium, codoped with carbon and nitrogen and tridoped with carbon and nitrogen and yttrium were prepared by the sol–gel method and investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy ( DRS), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDS) and...

Studying the Effect of Carbon Nanotubes Addition on the Mechanical and Hydration Properties and Microstructure of Magnesia Doloma Refractories

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadi, Hooman (Author) ; Nemati, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Magnesia-doloma refractories are alkaline products made by combining sintered or fused dolomite and magnesite. These refractories contain 50-80 wt% magnesium and a higher percentage of magnesium oxide, provides desirable properties such as improved refractoriness and resistance to air moisture absorption. Magnesia-doloma refractories have significant weaknesses, including rapid hydration due to the presence of CaO and MgO phases. These refractories are also primarily used with carbon additives in the industry, where increasing the carbon weight percentage in these refractories weakens their strength and some of mechanical properties. In the present study, the effect of adding carbon...
