    Supreme Pfister Forms

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nokhodkar Hassan Abadi, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Mahdavi Hezavehi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis we investigate the consept of supreme Pfister forms developed by K. J. Becher. Let F be a field of characteristic different from 2. Several properties of F with respect to an anisotropic form ϕ over F are introduced and their relations are studied. A form ϕ is called supreme if it is anisotropic and every anisotropic form over F is a subform of ϕ. It can be easily shown that if F has a supreme form then F is nonreal and ϕ is a Pfister form. We see how examples of such fields may be obtained. Also we compare fields having a supreme Pfister form with n-local fields (i.e., fields which up to isometry have exactly two n-fold Pfister forms). Finally, we apply our results to the...

Hyperbolic and Metabolic Forms and Involutions

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Nokhodkar Hassan Abadi, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Gholamzadeh Mahmoudi, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Mahdavi-Hezavehi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, we investigate the involutions of a Clifford algebra induced by involutions of orthogonal group in characteristic two. Several properties of these involutions, such as the relations between their invariants and their decompositions are studied. Also it is shown that a tensor product of quaternion algebras with involution can be expressed as the Clifford algebra of a suitable quadratic form with an involution induced by an involution of orthogonal group. Finally, in connection with the Pfister factor conjecture formulated by D. B. Shapiro, split tensor products of quaternion algebras with involution over a field of characteristic two are investigated

    Nondeterminism in CZ Specification Language

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Haghighi, Hassan (Author) ; Mirian Hossein Abadi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Due to the high level abstraction inherent in most formal specifications and the need to formally specify and develop nondeterministic systems, such as concurrent, probabilistic, and game-like ones, nondeterminism comes into formal specifications inevitably. As it will be shown in this thesis, after developing programs constructively from implicitly nondeterministic specifications, which have been written in the CZ (constructive Z) specification language, only one of the allowable, specified behaviors will appear in final programs. In this way, the implementer will be provided with only one of the possible implementations that is not necessarily the best one. When the nondeterminism involved...

Improving the Efficiency of Program State Coverage Criterion

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karimi, Shahab (Author) ; Mirian Hossein Abadi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the most crucial methods to Ensure correct software performance is testing. On this ground, one of the most critical discussions regarding software testing is the effectiveness of a test suite. Program state coverage is a criterion for determining the effectiveness of a test suite. This criterion indicates the number of program states that are executed for the lines. Since the total number of program states cannot be calculated to measure coverage, this criterion proposes a fixed number of 10 to measure program state coverage. Also, according to calculations for the program state in the execution of each line, the time complexity of this criterion is high. In this thesis, providing...

A Technique for Program Fault Location Using External Information Sources

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nosrati, Ali (Author) ; Mirian Hossein Abadi, Hassan (Supervisor) ; Habibi, Jafar (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, there have been many studies aimed at finding program defect using information of previous ones. These studies, by using the program text, previous bugs, and information related to version control and project management systems create an defect prediction model to find other defect prone areas in the program. The output of defect prediction methods is part of the program’s text, which is likely to have defects. Considering that the result of this method is just the text of the program and does not provide any extra information for finding defects to the user, these methods have not yet been applied to the software industry. On the other hand, by spreading the use of Q & A...

Graph homomorphisms through random walks [electronic resource]

, Article Journal of Graph Theory ; 2003, Volume 44, Issue 1, pages 15–38 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Hajiabolhassan, Hossein ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper we introduce some general necessary conditions for the existence of graph homomorphisms, which hold in both directed and undirected cases. Our method is a combination of Diaconis and Saloff–Coste comparison technique for Markov chains and a generalization of Haemers interlacing theorem. As some applications, we obtain a necessary condition for the spanning subgraph problem, which also provides a generalization of a theorem of Mohar (1992) as a necessary condition for Hamiltonicity. In particular, in the case that the range is a Cayley graph or an edge-transitive graph, we obtain theorems with a corollary about the existence of homomorphisms to cycles. This, specially, provides...

Unique list-colourability and the fixing chromatic number of graphs [electronic resource]

, Article Discrete Applied Mathematics ; Volume 152, Issues 1–3, 1 November 2005, Pages 123–138 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Hajiabolhassan, Hossein ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper we introduce a chromatic parameter, called the fixing chromatic number, which is related to unique colourability of graphs, in the sense that it measures how one can embed the given graph G in G∪Kt by adding edges between G and Kt to make the whole graph uniquely t-colourable. We study some basic properties of this parameter as well as its relationships to some other well-known chromatic numbers as the acyclic chromatic number. We compute the fixing chromatic number of some graph products by applying a modified version of the exponential graph construction

Circular colouring and algebraic no-homomorphism theorems

, Article European Journal of Combinatorics ; Volume 28, Issue 6, August 2007, Pages 1843–1853 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Hajiabolhassan, Hossein ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper, we apply some new algebraic no-homomorphism theorems in conjunction with some new chromatic parameters to estimate the circular chromatic number of graphs. To show the applicability of the general results, as a couple of examples, we generalize a well known inequality for the fractional chromatic number of graphs and we also show that the circular chromatic number of the graph obtained from the Petersen graph by excluding one vertex is equal to 3. Also, we focus on the Johnson–Holroyd–Stahl conjecture about the circular chromatic number of Kneser graphs and we propose an approach to this conjecture. In this regard, we introduce a new related conjecture on Kneser graphs and we...

Density and power graphs in graph homomorphism problem

, Article Discrete Mathematics ; Volume 308, Issue 17, 6 September 2008, Pages 4027–4030 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Hajiabolhassan, Hossein ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
We introduce two necessary conditions for the existence of graph homomorphisms based on the concepts of density and power graph. As corollaries, we obtain a lower bound for the fractional chromatic number, and we set forward elementary proofs of the facts that the circular chromatic number of the Petersen graph is equal to three and the fact that the Coxeter graph is a core

Criteria for Evaluating Bogie Performance For Sustaining Ride Quality

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Shokouhi Dolat Abadi, Nader (Author) ; Sayyadi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis proposes a dynamic model for studding influences of suspension components behavior on rail vehicle dynamics. As the air springs are very important isolating component in rail vehicles, a new complete nonlinear air spring model, with taking into consideration of thermo–dynamical effects, is developed. The model coefficients are tuned based on the real test data and it can be easily used in dynamic modeling of air springs. The new proposed vehicle model is a complete track–vehicle model with 70 degree of freedoms which is addressed as a modular type. Experimental results from complete rail–vehicle field test, showed remarkable agreement between proposed model and test results....

    Event-Driven Web Application Testing

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Habibi, Elahe (Author) ; Mirian Hossien Abadi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
There are different classes of event-driven softwares. These softwares include Graphical user interface, web application or embedded software. In these kinds of softwares, each user's action while using application is known as "event". The application responds to the action through changing behaviour and then waiting for another event. Testing software is the best way for checking the quality assurance of event-driven softwares. However, there are some problems as cause of creating lots of event sequences in testing these kinds of softwares. Therefore, many solutions are introduced for these problems. The goal of this report, is presenting new testing procedure for event-driven web...

Flutter Analysis Rotating Blade of a Turbo Machinery Made of Magneto Rheological Elastomer Core

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rayyat Rokn-Abadi, Mohammad (Author) ; Haddadpour, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study considers the flutter analysis rotating blade of a turbo machinery made of magneto rheological elastomer core. The Smith theory is used for modeling the compressible subsonic flow. The classical Hamilton’s principle along with the assume mode method is used to set up the equations of motion. The validity of the derived formulation is confirmed through comparison with those obtained from the finite element software and the available results in the literature. Various parametric studies including the effects of applied magnetic field, core layer thicknesses, rotating speed, setting angle are examined for considered configuration of the rotating blade. The results show that the first...

A nine-step approach for developing and implementing an “agricultural drought risk management plan”; case study: Alamut River basin in Qazvin, Iran

    , Article Natural Hazards ; Volume 102, Issue 3 , 2020 , Pages 1187-1205 Fatehi Marj, A ; Hosseini Hossein Abadi, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Springer  2020
    Abstract
Occurrence of drought, as an inevitable natural climate feature, cannot be ceased while happening. However, costs of the consequences could be alleviated using mature scientific integrated approaches. To reduce the amount of damage, it is required to provide “Contingency” and “Mitigation” action plans. For this reason, development of efficient operating instructions for various regions based on weather conditions and field studies is needed as well as having a sophisticated understanding of socioeconomic situations. This paper describes an approach to provide the first national agricultural drought risk management plan for a river basin in Iran country as a pilot. The study lasted for...

On the isoperimetric spectrum of graphs and its approximations [electronic resource]

, Article Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Series B ; Volume 100, Issue 4, July 2010, Pages 390–412 Daneshgar, A. (Amir) ; Hajiabolhassan, Hossein ; Javadi, Ramin ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper1 we consider higher isoperimetric numbers of a (finite directed) graph. In this regard we focus on the nth mean isoperimetric constant of a directed graph as the minimum of the mean outgoing normalized flows from a given set of n disjoint subsets of the vertex set of the graph. We show that the second mean isoperimetric constant in this general setting, coincides with (the mean version of) the classical Cheeger constant of the graph, while for the rest of the spectrum we show that there is a fundamental difference between the nth isoperimetric constant and the number obtained by taking the minimum over all n-partitions. In this direction, we show that our definition is the...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Amir Hossein Amir Ahmadi (Author) ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The purpose of this research is to monitor the health of structures using the updated finite element model, in which digital images are used to optimize the numerical model. Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is always an important and significant issue that has attracted the attention of many researchers in recent years. In general, some researches have been conducted in this field using physical sensors that provide discrete data to the system for analysis. Using cameras to monitor the structure makes it possible to extract continuous and integrated data from the structure using digital images, which is a significant advantage compared to physical sensors. In this research, a steel...

A new model for robust facility layout problem [electronic resource]

, Article Information Sciences, Elsevier ; Volume 278, 10 September 2014, Pages 498–509 Neghabi, H. (Hossein) ; Eshghi, Kourosh ; Salmani, Mohammad Hassan ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The Facility Layout Problem (FLP) is the problem of locating each department in a long plant floor without any overlap between departments in order to minimize the material handling cost. The main purpose of this study is to show the effectiveness of a robust approach to solve FLP. In this study, it is assumed that the departments’ length and width are not predetermined. For modeling this kind of uncertainty, the size of each department is considered as a bounded variable and two new parameters are also introduced to implement a robust approach. Moreover, a new adaptive algorithm is designed to determine the robust layout with respect to the decision makers’ requirements. Furthermore, the...

Rapid growth of technology and the increase in availability of fast communication means caused transportation planners to pay attention to solutions of demand management with an aproach to information technology. Replacement of traditional shopping with internet shopping can be seen as a suitable solution to reduce traffic and polution. Purpose of this research is to probe teleshopping choice and the frequency of doing that, simultaneously, using copula model as the most common aproach of joint models in recent years. In this research, the binary logit model is used to build the model for teleshopping choice and the order logit model is used to build the frequency model. The data sample is...

Identifying the Success Factors of Construction Projects (Case Study: Azadi Mashhad Underground Parking Project)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hossein Abadi, Mohammad Javad (Author) ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Identifying the success factors of construction projects is one of the most important issues in project management. Lack of sufficient and comprehensive knowledge of project success factors makes it difficult to control, monitor and operate projects. Therefore, identifying the factors influencing the failure or success of projects according to the type of projects by managers, employers and executives can provide a good framework for evaluating and reviewing project outputs for them. Also, recognizing the success factors of projects can help to manage the appropriate allocation of resources throughout the life of the project. The result of this study can increase the existing knowledge about...
