Evaluation of Implementing Machine Learning Methods on Multi-Access Edge Computing Based Networks, Focusing on Computation Offloading
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Hajsadeghi, Khosrow (Supervisor)
Abstract
Many applications that require heavy processing, such as augmented reality, facial recognition, self-driving cars, and digital healthcare systems, are emerging. Many devices in the Internet of Things space cannot process such a volume of calculations. One of the newest methods to solve this problem is using new architectures in network design, among which we can refer to the edge computing architecture. In this method, by offloading the computation on the available computing resources close to the network's end nodes, we try to provide the results of the calculations for the end nodes of the network as quickly as possible. In this thesis, the problem of determining the computation offloading...

Abstract
One of the main concerns in using commercial software for finite element analyses of dam-foundation-reservoir systems is that the simplifying assumptions of the massless foundation are unreliable. In this study, an appropriate direct finite element method is introduced for simulating the mass, radiation damping and wave propagation effect in foundations of dam-foundation-reservoir systems using commercial software ABAQUS. The free-field boundary condition is used for modeling the semi-infinite foundation and radiation damping, which is not a built-in boundary condition in most of the available commercial software for finite element analysis of structures such as ANSYS or ABAQUS and thus...

Abstract
The critical strain energy release rate for crack initiation, J ci , was measured under mode I loading for SAC305 solder joints between two copper substrates. Fracture tests were performed using double cantilever beam specimens at a strain rate of 0.03 s −1 . Different bond-line widths (i.e., joint size in the out-of-plane dimension) and thicknesses, were examined. The fracture force per unit width and J ci (the average value of four J-integral contours encircling the crack tip) were relatively insensitive to the width of the joint ranging from 8 mm to 21 mm. Variations in bond-line thickness (i.e., 150 μm, 250 μm and 450 μm) also had an insignificant influence on the fracture energy of...
