Abstract
The technology world is developing fast with the developments made in the hardware and software areas. Considering that privacy and security of telemedicine applications are among the main necessities of this industry, as a result, there is a need to use lightweight and practical algorithms to be used in applications in the field of telemedicine, while security have the least negative impact. The distinct and contradicting components in the design and implementation of the cryptography algorithm, to achieve various objectives in medicine-based applications, have made it a complicated system. It is natural that, without identifying the components, indices, and properties of each system...
Forecasting smoothed non-stationary time series using genetic algorithms
, Article International Journal of Modern Physics C ; Volume 18, Issue 6 , 2007 , Pages 1071-1086 ; 01291831 (ISSN) ; Rahmani, B ; Norouzzadeh, M. S ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
We introduce kernel smoothing method to extract the global trend of a time series and remove short time scales variations and fluctuations from it. A multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MF-DFA) shows that the multifractality nature of TEPIX returns time series is due to both fatness of the probability density function of returns and long range correlations between them. MF-DFA results help us to understand how genetic algorithm and kernel smoothing methods act. Then we utilize a recently developed genetic algorithm for carrying out successful forecasts of the trend in financial time series and deriving a functional form of Tehran price index (TEPIX) that best approximates the time...

Abstract
Cryptography algorithms are a fundamental part of a cryptographic system that is designed and implemented to increase information security. They are the center of attention of experts in the information technology domains. Although the cryptography algorithms are implemented to attain the goals such as confidentially, integrity, and authenticity of designing, but other matters that must be noticed by designers include speed, resource consumption, reliability, flexibility, usage type, and so on. For the useful allocation of hardware, software, and human resources, it is important to identify the role of each of the factors influencing the design of cryptographic algorithms to invest in the...
Surface Integral Equations Technique for Ferrite Resonator Antennas
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Rejaei, Behzad (Supervisor)
Abstract
So far, investigations have shown that open dielectricresonator antennas(DRAs) offer several advantages at microwaveand millimeter wave frequencies and make them appropriate in low directional-gain applications . These advantages include small size, large impedance bandwidth, high radiation efficiency, ease of manufacturing and simple feed-coupling mechanisms (such as probe coupling, aperture coupling or proximity coupling to micro-strip lines). Most microwave ferrites have dielectric constants in the desirable range and they can be used in place of dielectric materials. Such ferrite resonator antennas (FRAs) offer a potential advantage inthat their permeability tensor can be controlled by...
A multifractal detrended fluctuation description of Iranian rial-US dollar exchange rate
, Article Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications ; Volume 367 , 2006 , Pages 328-336 ; 03784371 (ISSN) ; Rahmani, B ; Sharif University of Technology
2006
Abstract
The miltifractal properties and scaling behaviour of the exchange rate variations of the Iranian rial against the US dollar from a daily perspective is numerically investigated. For this purpose the multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MF-DFA) is used. Through multifractal analysis, the scaling exponents, generalized Hurst exponents, generalized fractal dimensions and singularity spectrum are derived. Moreover, contribution of two major sources of multifractality, that is, fat-tailed probability distributions and nonlinear temporal correlations are studied. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

Abstract
We report on a study of the Tehran Price Index (TEPIX) from 2001 to 2006 as an emerging market that has been affected by several political crises during the recent years, and analyze the non-Gaussian probability density function (PDF) of the log returns of the stock prices. We show that while the average of the index did not fall very much over the time period of the study, its day-to-day fluctuations strongly increased due to the crises. Using an approach based on multiplicative processes with a detrending procedure, we study the scale-dependence of the non-Gaussian PDFs, and show that the temporal dependence of their tails indicates a gradual and systematic increase in the probabilityof...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Behzadipour, Saeed (Supervisor)
Abstract
Exoskeleton is a newborn technology for disabled people. Personal exoskeleton is a type that is suitable for replacement of wheelchair. Exoped, the first Iranian exoskeleton made by Pedasys company, was a rehabilitation one. The purpose of this research was enhancing the design of its actuators to accomplish lighter, smaller and cheaper one. At first we identified the different loads that are applied to actuators of exoskeleton and we tried to decrease the number of actuators needed, as more as possible. Then we modeled the exoskeleton-user system to measure the required parameters. Using this model, we conducted an algorithm to design appropriate gait cycle for walking with the help of...

Theoretical study of high repetition rate short pulse generation with fiber optical parametric amplification [electronic resource]
, Article Journal of Lightwave Technology ; May 2012, Volume 30, Issue 9, PP. 1263-1268 ; Ariaei, A. M ; Jadidi, M. M ; Salehi, J. A ; Sharif Unversity of Technology
Abstract
In this paper, we study theoretically the generation of high repetition rate short pulses using fiber optical parametric amplification. We show that the pulse shape and duration depend on the signal location relatively to the pump frequency. We demonstrate that in order to get the shortest pulse width, the signal must be located at one of the extremities of the gain spectrum associated with the pump peak power. We derive the analytical expression of the pulse shape in this case and compare it to the exponential gain regime case. Using numerical simulations, we also analyze the impact of walk-off and pump phase modulation that is required to suppress Stimulated Brillouin Scattering and derive...

Abstract
This paper reports a polarization controllable and angle-insensitive perfect metamaterial absorber (PMA). The proposed PMA consists of periodically arranged asymmetric omega-shaped resonators made of metallic copper. The absorptivity was analyzed considering the microwave C-band from 4 GHz to 8 GHz. The proposed PMA shows an absorption peak with almost 100% absorptivity at 6.2 GHz. Also, wideband negative index of refraction is observed. Further, the absorber is inspected for the different rotation angles of the top metasurface (omega-shaped ring) along the optical axis, and obliquity of incidence angle for both TE and TM polarized waves. Moreover, surface electric field and surface current...

Abstract
In cloud computing, services play key roles. Services are well defined and autonomous components. Nowadays, the demand of using Fuzzy inference as a service is increasing in the domain of complex and critical systems. In such systems, along with the development of the software, the cost of detecting and fixing software defects increases. Therefore, using formal methods, which provide clear, concise, and mathematical interpretation of the system, is crucial for the design of these Fuzzy systems. To obtain this goal, we introduce the Fuzzy Inference Cloud Service (FICS) and propose a novel discipline for formal modeling of the FICS. The FICS provides the service of Fuzzy inference to the...

Abstract
Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication is an important type of communication in the Internet-of-Things (IoT). How to send data in these high-density communications using relay selection can help improve the performance of this type of communication in various applications. In addition, the possibility of simultaneous use of different Radio Frequency (RF) interfaces helps to use the spectrum more efficiently. In this work, we try to further use machine communication RF equipment and improve the average data rate of networks in some applications such as the IoT, which have their own bandwidth requirements. Therefore, we provide an optimization algorithm for relay selection as well as the...
