Provide a Real Option Model for Managing Airlines' Revenue Management

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Esmaielzade Pakdaman, Hamid Reza (Author) ; Modarres, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, we will examine the issue of managing airlines' income and determining the appropriate policies for storing accommodation for different classes in the seats of a flight. Most airlines use a nesting structure to allocate seats, in which access between classes is possible, but only the higher class can access all the seats in the subclass. It is assumed that this structure and allocation process increase company revenue, but the problem is that the chances of staying in the seat will increase in the hope of higher demand and higher risk of corporate income reduction. With the goal of providing a way to determine the optimal classroom dynamically, this study, for the first...

Polypropylene foaming in a reactive process

    , Article Journal of Cellular Plastics ; Volume 43, Issue 6 , 2007 , Pages 445-458 ; 0021955X (ISSN) Frounchi, M ; Sharif Pakdaman, A ; Mousavi, S. A ; Dadbin, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
Long-chain branches are incorporated into the molecular backbone of a polypropylene (PP) in a foaming process. The branching of PP occurs by radical reactions of dicumyl peroxide and a tri-functional monomer, trimethylol propane trimethacrylate. Use of peroxide without tri-functional monomer results in scission of PP molecular chains and significant reduction in melt viscosity. The increase in melt viscosity in conjunction with the flow ability of the modified PP indicates that the polymer has a branched structure. Melting temperature of PP remains unchanged with branching reactions implying that reactions occur mainly in amorphous regions of PP. The improvement in melt strength and...

Genco's Bidding Strategy in Day-Ahead Energy Market Considering Demand Response

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kazemi, Mostafa (Author) ; Ehsan, Mehdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Since 1980s the electricity market has been gradually evolving from a monopoly market into a liberalized one for encouraging competition and improving efficiency. This brings the opportunity for generation companies (Gencos) to make more profits while embracing more risks of not being dispatched. Therefore, it has become a core interest for the Gencos to develop optimal bidding strategies to maximize the profits and minimize the risks while participating in such a competitive market. Error of determining day-ahead electricity price is one of the sources of the risk. Energy price has a high impact on bidding strategy optimization process. So it should be determined with low error which is not...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mahmoodzadeh, Zahra (Author) ; Ehsan, Mehdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Losses are unavoidable in any parts of power systems, from generation to receiving nodes and occur in transmission and distribution networks. However, the main loss component is produced in distribution networks. Energy losses in distribution networks are about 70% of technological transport energy losses.
Energy losses in distribution networks are an important indicator for the planning and operation of the system. A fast, reliable and accurate energy loss calculation method is required for optimal operation of the distribution networks.
Energy loss depends on network's operating conditions. Loads values and loads factors are time variables; therefore, methods based on probability...
