Design and Control of Parallel Hybride Electric Samand Vehicle
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Vossoughi, Gholamreza (Supervisor)
Abstract
The final target of this research is to design an appropriate intelligent control strategy for energy management purposes in a well designed parallel hybrid electric vehicle. In the first step, the conventional “Samand” vehicle has been simulated using real data for vehicle parameters and power train components, has been simulated. Using experimental results, simulation results are validated. In the second step due to the primarily defined parallel electric assist control strategy (PEACS) for the hybrid electric vehicle and performance requirements, components such as engine, electric machine and battery pack were selected and sized. In the final step a Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) has been...
Seismic Performance Assessment of Concentrically Braced Frames
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kazemi, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis investigates the performance of concentrically braced frames through numerical simulation approaches. During a moderate to severe earthquake, the bracing members and their connections are expected to undergo significant inelastic deformations into the post-buckling range. Recently, provisions for special concentrically braced frames (SCBFs) were developed to exhibit stable and ductile behavior in the event of a major earthquake. Special Concentrically Braced Frames (SCBFs) are distinguished from Ordinary Braced Frames in that they possess improved post-buckling capacity. Performance based evaluation of SCBF system as well as ordinary concentrically braced frame (OCBF) system...
Entanglement Hamiltonian of Interacting Systems and its Applications in the Study of Strongly Correlated Systems
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Vaezi, Mir Abolhassan (Supervisor)
Abstract
Recent advances in numerical computations in the field of strongly correlated systems have provided us to calculate the entanglement spectrum and the entanglement entropy for interacting systems. Calculating the explicit form of the entanglement Hamiltonian (a.k.a. the modular Hamiltonian) is considered as a difficult problem. In this dissertation, we intend to introduce a method and by means of the d ensity-matrix-renormalization-group algorithm to obtain for the first time the second quantization form of the entanglement Hamiltonian of interacting systems at zero temperature. We implement our method for one-dimensional Heisenberg spin chain and also Heisenberg model on a square lattice...

Abstract
Because of opportunistic spectrum access, cognitive radio networks is a promising solution for spectrum scarcity problem. In cognitive radio networks, users need to communicate through control channels in order to cooperate for sharing sensing information, channel sharing and spectrum management. As a result control channels security is of a great importance. If control channels get jammed, network's performance degrades dramatically; therefore, the jammers primary target in cognitive radio networks is to demolish control channels in order to disturb the network's performance. Traditionally hopping sequences were used to battle this problem but considering cognitive radio networks...
Using Game Theory to Battle Jammer in Control Channel of Ad-hoc Cognitive Radio Networks
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Salehi, Javad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Due to both dynamic and opportunistic spectrum access, Cognitive radio networks is a promising solution for spectrum scarcity problem. In cognitive radio networks, users need to have a control channels in order to cooperate for sharing the sensing information, channel sharing and etc. In Ad-hoc cognitive radio networks because of the absence of infrastructure and central nodes, every user runs a distributed algorithm to create a common control channel. If the control channel gets jammed, network’s performance degrades dramatically, therefore the jammer’s target in cognitive radio networks is the control channels to disturb the networks’ performance. The traditional solution to confront...

Abstract
In this article, we use an efficient analytical method called homotopy analysis method (HAM) to derive an approximate solution of nonlinear ion sound waves equation. Actually, we solved Korteweg-de Vries equation arises in a one-dimensional macroscopic plasma model describing the weakly nonlinear evolution of ion sound speed by the HAM. Unlike the perturbation method, the HAM does not require the addition of a small physically parameter to the differential equation. It is applica-ble to strongly and weakly nonlinear problems. Moreover, the HAM involves an auxiliary parameter, which renders the convergence param-eter of series solutions controllable, and increases the convergence, and...

Abstract
This paper presents a new framework for evaluating contribution of wind farms in operational reliability level of power systems. In this regard, at first, it provides a short-term analytical model well designed to represent intermittent and uncertain nature of wind power. Combining the attained multi-state model of wind farms with the other committed generating units, operational risk of the system is evaluated. The concept of Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland (PJM), previously developed to assess the short-term/mid-term reliability of conventional generating units, is revisited in this paper to more practically incorporate wind farms in reliability studies of the power system. The proposed...

Abstract
This paper mainly focuses on operational reliability studies of modern power systems taking into consideration the effects of energy storage systems (ESSs). The aim is to develop a new evaluation tool to assess the effects of different factors such as penetration rate, operational strategies and capacities of the ESSs in determining the role of these systems as an operating reserve resource. In this regard, at first, some modifications are made to the PJM method aimed to precisely model the short-term variability in output generation of wind farms in reliability studies. Then, this algorithm is employed to examine the effects of ESSs operating strategies in operational reliability level of...

Abstract
To more clearly show the abilities of multi-energy carrier systems in managing different energy demands, this paper investigates optimal scheduling of an energy hub in presence of price-based demand response (DR) programs. In this regard, the mathematical model of different energy converters and storage units including combined heat and power (CHP), electrical storage, heat storage and ice storage are extracted. Then, time-of-use (TOU) electrical energy price is set in such a way to reach lower demand in peak hours. Extracting the optimization model of energy scheduling for an energy hub in presence of TOU DR program, the proposed algorithm is implemented on a typical energy hub and the...

Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of phosphate solution with Ca2+ additives on weight, surface morphology and electrochemical behavior of phosphated Zn-Ni film. In order to characterize structure and morphology of surface, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were applied, respectively. Results showed that the main composition in produced coatings was hopeite Zn3(PO4)2·4H2O, which has high corrosion resistance. On one hand, in the presence of Ca2+ cations in solution, the weight of phosphate coating decreased, but on the other hand surface uniformity and corrosion resistance of the coating increased

Abstract
Depletion of the fossil fuel resources along with the environmental concerns have led to a significant growth in utilization of Renewable Energy Resources (RERs). Among different kinds of RERs, wind energy due to maturity of its associated conversion technologies and also its widespread presence in different regions has experienced a more rapid usage in generation sector of power systems. Despite numerous benefits of this environmentally-friendly energy, uncontrollability and uncertainty in output power of wind turbines has resulted in many technical issues for operators of power systems. However, it has been shown that the presence of various storage system technologies can alleviate these...
