Electrochemical Behaviors of RuO2-TiO2 Mixed Metal Oxide Coated on Titanium Anodes in Chlor-Alkali Electrolysis

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Paryani, Kasra (Author) ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Titanium anodes activated by noble metal oxides under the trade name of dimensionally stable anodes (DSAs) are widely used in the electrolytic industry, particularly in chlor – alkali electrolysis. Over 20 years of use, the fundamental aspects of their long – lasting performance are not fully understand and the corrosion mechanisms are still the subject of many investigations. RuO2 – TiO2 coatings on titanium substrate, due to proper electrochemical characteristics and good corrosion resistance, is most applicable as an anode in chlor – alkali systems. In the present investigation, the first layer of Pt – Ir coating is applied via electrodeposition method on the pretreated titanium substrate...

Investigation of the combination of TiO2 nanoparticles and drag reducer polymer effects on the heat transfer and drag characteristics of nanofluids

    Abstract
To compensate for drag increment due to the addition of nanoparticles to heat-transfer fluids, it seems that one could add drag reducer polymeric agents to these fluids. So, in this work, experiments were carried out for solutions of two types of polyacrylamide (FLOPAAM 3330S and FLOPAAM 3630S) at three distinct concentrations (25, 40, and 55 ppm), and TiO2-water nanofluid at concentrations of 0.015, 0.02, 0.025, and 0.03 L/L. The steady state turbulent convective heat transfer and the friction factor of the suspension of TiO2 in a dilute solution of very high molecular weight, polyacrylamide (hybrid fluid), in a coiled tube were analyzed. Experimental measurements were carried out from a...

Blind Speech Separation in Convolutive Mixtures

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sadra Siahpoush (Author) ; Babaiezadeh Malmiri, Massoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Blind Source Separation (BSS) aims to recover multiple source signals from mixtures without prior knowledge of the sources or the mixing process. This manuscript focuses on speech separation in convolutive mixtures, aiming to recover speech signals from mixtures that are linear combinations of the filtered versions of original signals. Most recent methods for blind source separation in both instantaneous and convolutive mixtures typically involve transforming time-domain mixed signals into the time-frequency domain using Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and conducting the separation in this domain. Broadly, the separation process is followed by two main approaches. The first involves...

Effect of tiO_2 Nanoparticles on Heat and Drag Properties of Dilute Polymer Solutions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Paryani, Sadra (Author) ; Ramezani Saadat Abadi, Ahmad (Supervisor) ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza ($item.subfieldsMap.e)
    Abstract
In the present work, the experiments were carried out for two types of PAM (3330 and 3630) with three distinct concentrations (25, 40 and 55 ppm) and TiO_2-water nanofluid for four concentrations (1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 vol. %), and the Nusselt number and friction factor for each of them expressed separately. The Reynolds number was in the range from 11000 to 21000. The steady state turbulent convective heat transfer and friction factor of the combination of TiO_2-water nanofluid and polymer 3330 in the coiled tube were investigated. The effects of the Reynolds number for 2 vol. % nanoparticles which consists of 25 ppm PAM (3330) determined at the constant temperature of 24°C. It was observed...
