Studying Graphene Oxide Nanoflakes Size Effect on Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Homa, Kinza (Author) ; Naseri, Naimeh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials are ultrathin nanomaterials with a high degree of anisotropy and chemical functionality. Research on 2D nanomaterials is still in its infancy, with the majority of research focusing on elucidating unique material characteristics and few reports focusing on biomedical applications of 2D nanomaterials. Here we report the properties and application of 2Dnanomaterials in field of bio technology while used main material in our project is graphene oxide for investigating its antibacterial properties. Because the properties of graphene oxide (GO)-based materials strongly depend on the lateral size and size distribution of GO nanosheets; therefore, GO and its...

Corporate entrepreneurship, its antecedents, process, and consequences: A systematic review and suggestion for future research

    , Article Journal of International Entrepreneurship ; Volume 19, Issue 2 , 2021 , Pages 196-222 ; 15707385 (ISSN) Pirhadi, H ; Feyzbakhsh, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Springer  2021
    Abstract
Corporate entrepreneurship (CE) has been drawing mounting interest in recent decades. Entrepreneurial behavior holds paramount importance in organizational research, since entrepreneurship is essential for modern organizations success. Each scholarly has partly investigated the concept. This paper seeks to present the result of a systematic review of the prominent studies about CE while elaborating on fundamental concepts. To do so, we have conducted statistical analyses of significant 336 studies while categorizing CE literature on a thematic basis. The analyses suggest that CE literature may fall in three main categories, i.e., antecedent, process, and consequence. The paper proceeds to...

CFD-Modeling and Simulation of Droplets Evaporation With a Size Distribution Function

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pirhadi, Zahra (Author) ; Farhadi, Fatollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Injecting several droplets with a known size distribution function in the hot gas environment makes droplets smaller because of evaporation or reaction. Droplets lifetime specification is important in vapor-liquid interactive processes such as chemical or process industries. In previous works, different approximate semi-empirical methods are developed to specify droplets lifetime without considering their size distribution. In this work, governing equations is studiedconsidering a size distribution function for droplets. There is not any analytical method for solving this set of equations, so numerical methods using CFD packages such as Fluent, are applicable in these cases. In this study,...

Unpacking entrepreneurial alertness: How character matters for entrepreneurial thinking

    , Article Journal of Small Business Management ; 2021 ; 00472778 (ISSN) Pirhadi, H ; Soleimanof, S ; Feyzbakhsh, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Taylor and Francis Ltd  2021
    Abstract
Over centuries and across cultures, scholars have consistently highlighted the role of character for achieving personal and societal good. Yet we know little about how character matters for entrepreneurship. This study builds upon the theory of character strengths to extend our knowledge about personal antecedents of entrepreneurial thinking. Specifically, we examine how character strengths of valor, industriousness, and critical thinking can affect different dimensions of entrepreneurial alertness: scanning and search, association and connection, and evaluation and judgment. We use two samples of 412 students and 145 entrepreneurs to test the study’s hypotheses. The results shed light on...

Preparation and Characterization of Inhibitor Loaded Nanodiamond for Anticorrosion Coating

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rahmani, Pooria (Author) ; Shojaei, Akbar (Supervisor) ; Pirhadi, Nahid (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, nanodiamond (ND) has been used as reinforcement in polymeric nanocomposites in order to improve mechanical properties, thermal conductivity, etc. The surface of nanodiamond has several functional groups which make it appropriate adsorbent. In this study, nanodiamond was modified with dodecylamine corrosion inhibitor and was utilized (1wt %) in epoxy based nanocomposite. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis was used to confirm the surface modification of Nanodiamond. In order to estimate the loading amount of corrosion inhibitor, thermogravimetric analysis was investigated. FE-SEM analysis demonstrated nanoparticle dispersibility in epoxy matrix. Regarding...

Size-controlled synthesis of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and their surface coating by gold for biomedical applications [electronic resource]

    Abstract
The size mono-dispersity, saturation magnetization, and surface chemistry of magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) are recognized as critical factors for efficient biomedical applications. Here, we performed modified water-in-oil inverse nano-emulsion procedure for preparation of stable colloidal superparamagnetic iron oxide NPs (SPIONs) with high saturation magnetization. To achieve mono-dispersed SPIONs, optimization process was probed on several important factors including molar ratio of iron salts [Fe3+ and Fe2+], the
