    Abstract
    In this work, permeation of mixed gases H2S/CH4 through commercial polyphenylene oxide (PPO) hollow fiber and poly (ester urethane) urea (PEUU) flat membranes was studied at pressures of 345–689 kPa, at ambient temperature and at 313.15 K. Various H2S concentrations of about 100–5000 ppm in CH4 binary synthetic gas mixtures as well as a real natural gas sample obtained from a gas refinery containing 0.3360 mol.% H2S (equivalent to 3360 ppm) were tested. It was observed that the permeance of components was affected by the balance between competitive sorption and plasticization effects.     In this study, a two-stage membrane system for the separation of CH4/CO2 was designed based on a series of laboratory-scale experiments obtained using two types of commercial hollow fiber membranes including polyphenylene oxide (PPO) and Cardo-type polyimide (PI). The former showed high permeability and low to moderate selectivity, while the latter exhibited high selectivity and moderate permeability.     Abstract
    Impurities such as hydrogen sulfide, water vapor and heavy hydrocarbons in natural gas have considerable effects on the membrane performance. The influence of ethane on the performance of polyphenylene oxide and cardo-type polyimide hollow fiber membranes in CO2/CH4 Separation was studied. The gas mixture permeation rate was increased in the presence of C2H6. However, the CO2/CH4 separation factors remained almost the same in the presence and absence of the C2H6.     Abstract
    The performances of poly (2,6-dimethyl-1 A-phenylene oxide)(PPO) and Cardo-type polyimide (PI) hollow fiber membranes in the removal of H2S were studied. At 101-401 ppm concentration of H2S in CH4, the CH4 permeability decreased in the presence of H2S for Cardo-type polyimide hollow fiber membranes whereas the PPO membrane performance was not affected. The separation coefficients of H2S/CH4 were 6 and 4 for PI and PPO membranes, respectively. The permeabilities of both components of the mixture increased with increasing temperature whereas the selectivities remained constant.     Gas separation properties of commercially available polyphenylene oxide (PPO) and Cardo-type polyimide (PI) hollow fiber membranes were investigated by CO2/CH4 and O2/N2 separation experiments. The pure gas permeation and the mixed gas separation experiments indicated that the two hollow fiber membranes were suitable candidates for O2/N2 and CO2/CH4 separations.     Abstract
    The effects of water vapor on CO2/CH4 separation using commercially available poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) and Cardo-type polyimide hollow fiber membranes were investigated. Pure methane and CO2/CH4 mixture permeation experiments were carried out in the absence and presence of water vapor (60% RH). Pure methane permeance decreased in the presence of water vapor for both membrane types. The decrease was 28% for hydrophilic Cardo-type polyimide and 6% for hydrophobic PPO membranes.     Abstract
    In this study, the effect of film preparation conditions on the gas permeation properties of polyethylene (PE) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) films (containing 18 and 28wt% vinyl acetate) was investigated. Film blowing and phase inversion methods were applied in the production of PE and EVA films, respectively. The permeation of pure oxygen and carbon dioxide gases was measured at room temperature. The results indicated that with the increase of PE film thickness, permeability and solubility of O2 and CO2 in these films decreased; but the diffusivities of gases through PE films increased.     In this research, the effects of preparation conditions, including the coagulation bath temperature, polymer solution composition, preliminary drying time, and thickness of cast polymeric films, on the morphology of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer membranes were investigated with scanning electron microscopy and nitrogen gas permeability tests. Flat sheet membranes were prepared through a thermal-wet phase-inversion method. Scanning electron microscopy pictures showed asymmetric structures for some of the membranes.     The gas separation properties of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) membranes containing 18 and 28 wt% of vinyl acetate (VA) were investigated in this study. The effects of membrane preparation conditions, such as thermal and thermal/wet phase inversion, and the type of solvent on the gas separation properties of EVA membranes were investigated. The permeation of pure O2, N2, CH4, and CO2 gases at different feed pressures ranging from 2 to 11 bar were examined.     The performance of commercially available poly (2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) and Cardotype polyimide (PI) hollow fiber membranes was investigated in removing hydrogen sulfide from methane in a series of bench-scale experiments. It was observed that in the concentration range of hydrogen sulfide in methane from 101 to 401 ppm, the methane permeability decreased in the presence of hydrogen sulfide for Cardo-type polyimide hollow fiber membranes, whereas the PPO membrane performance was not affected.     Human parvovirus B19 (B19) is a small, non-enveloped virus and belongs to Parvoviridae family. B19 persists in many tissues such as thyroid tissue and even thyroid cancer. The main aim of this study was to determine the presence of B19, its association with increased inflammation in thyroid tissue, and thus its possible role in thyroid cancer progression. Studies have shown that virus replication in non-permissive tissue leads to overexpression of non-structural protein and results in upregulation of proinflammatory cytokines such as interleukin 6 and tumor necrosis factor alpha.     Using multiple antennas at the transmit and receive sides of a passive radar brings both the benefits of MIMO radar and passive radar. However one of the obstacles arisen in such configuration is the receive antennas placement in proper positions so that the radar performance is improved.
