Design and Fabrication and Parameter Extraction of Q-band Waveguide Filter with Transmission Zeros

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pourmohammad, Sara (Author) ; Banai, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
E-plane waveguide filters are good choices due to highly manfacturing accuracy in Q-band microwave devices. To increase the attenuation slop or selectivity of such filters one need to synthesis transmission zeros with cross coupled resonators. With this method for constanst degree and return loss, attenuation slop increases in comparison to direct coupled resonators.
In this thesis we designed and fabricated a Q-band 4th degree filter, with center frequency at 42.1746 GHz and bandwidth of 350 MHz with two transmission zeros. Results of simulations and measurments are given in chapters 3 and 5.
Microwave filters using coupled resonators are important components in microwave systems....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pourmohammad, Hamid (Author) ; Rouhani, Shahin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the last two decades, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) have shown significant capabilities in artificial intelligence. These networks are able to provide comprehensive conclusions about the overall behavior a system by analyzing the relationship between the components of that system; Clearly, these networks have been successful in performing categorization tasks. However, there are no coherent theories as to why they work, and how to optimize them. On the other hand, according to recent research on the relationship between deep networks (in computer science) and Renormalization Group (in physics), convolutional networks seem to use a method similar to the Density Matrix Renormalization...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pourmohammad, Hassan (Author) ; Ranjbar-Motlagh, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The so called T(b) theorem for boundedness of generalized CalderonZygmund singular integrals is investigated. This theorem provides a criterion, in which boundedness of the operator is equivalent to a special condition for the image of some function under action of that operator. Then we discuss some applications of the theorem in analysis and partial differential equations

Enhancement in Frequency Control of Microgrids by Application of Modified Controller in Virtual Synchronous Generator

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pourmohammad, Mehdi (Author) ; Ranjbar, Ali Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
global warming and air pollution due to the excessive consumption of fossil fuels have led to the proliferation of renewable energy sources (RESs). RESs are connected to the grid through power electronic converters and therefore, provide insignificant inertia and damping property for the system. As a result, the system overall inertia and damping is decreased and therefore, the system stability is jeopardized. This thesis presents a comprehensive small signal model for a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) integrated into a microgrid. In the developed state space, active and reactive power control loops of the VSG as well as resistances and reactances of the lines are considered. Based on...

    Abstract
Noise interference and data loss are two major problems that affect the processing results of image data transmission and storage. Restoration of the lost information of an image based on the existing information is the essence of inpainting. In this paper a new algorithm based on Sample and Hold interpolation and Iteration is proposed for reconstructing damaged images from existing regions and is compared to some other methods. The experimental results show the superiority of the visual quality and PSNR performance of the proposed method. It is observed that this approach can efficiently fill in the holes with visually plausible information

    Abstract
This article presents a comprehensive small signal model for a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) integrated into a microgrid. In the developed state-space, active and reactive power control loops of the VSG as well as resistances, and reactances of the lines are considered. Based on this model, the robust D-stable region in terms of different values of inertia constant $(M)$, and damping coefficient $(D)$ values of the VSG is obtained. To enhance both transient performance as well as guarantee the robust D-stable operation of VSG, an optimization problem is also proposed. Moreover, a new control method is suggested to damp frequency oscillations of the microgrid. The proposed controller is...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pourmohammad Hadi Farshami, Fatemeh (Author) ; Farshchi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this investigation, cellular structure of a weakly unstable detonation wave in H2/O2/Ar mixture is studied. The detonation is simulated using 2D reactive Euler equations and one step Arrhenius type reaction model developed by Mr. Barkhordari. The numerical technique is the high order Piecewise Parabolic Method on the basis of Godonov method. The numerical fluxes are computed based on a high-order extension of the Godunov's method; the piecewise parabolic method (PPM). The initial cell formation processes and different machanisms involved in cell size changes are studied. This study shows that the form of initial perturbation used to intrigate the instability of detonation is not important...

Predictive Maintenance of Machines using AI Algorithms

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghanbarian, Ali (Author) ; Hashemi, Matin (Supervisor) ; Pourmohammad Namvar, Mehrzad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Predictive maintenance plays a crucial role in enhancing productivity and reducing operational costs in industries. This study aims to predict failures in an eight-stage compressor, which experiences impeller damage and breakage over time. One of the main challenges was defining the problem based on the available dataset in a way that enables early failure detection. A review of different approaches revealed that, due to the sudden nature of compressor failures, conventional methods based on estimating the remaining useful life (RUL) are not highly effective. Therefore, anomaly detection was selected as the primary approach. Initially, an Autoencoder neural network—one of the most widely...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hassan Jamaklu (Author) ; Haddadpour, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Aerodynamics loads and aeroheating during reentry, are one of the challenging issues in designing One of the main challenges in the design and application of reusable spacecrafts is the aerodynamic and thermal loads acting on their structures during reentry into the atmosphere. For this reason, all the concepts/prototypes presented in the 20th century were either not fully reusable, or were partially canceled, or did not have economic justification. In this report, the aerodynamic loads on the first stage of a launch vehicle during the launch and return phases have been investigated. Due to the fact that the main part of the first stage of the vehicle includes fuel and oxidizer tanks, the...

Optimal Trajectory Correction for Hazardous Near-Earth Asteroids

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Farsi, Salman (Author) ; Zohoor, Hassan (Supervisor) ; Sayyadi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The collision of moderately large asteroids and comets also referred to as Near-Earth Objects (NEO's) with earth would have catastrophic consequences. Such events have occurred in the past and may occur again in the future. However, for the first time in known history, humanity may have the technology required to counter this threat. Methods studied for mitigation of this hazard are based on deflecting asteroid's trajectory and are normally divided into two basic categories: high energy impulsive methods, and long-duration low-thrust methods. Two parts of mission to be optimized are the trajectory of spacecraft to reach the target and the deflection strategy which could be analyzed by the...

    Abstract
Industrial enzymes can generally be classified into three groups: carbohydrases, proteases and lipases, which account for a major part of the global enzyme trade. Proteases, in particular, have always been extensively studied and investigated due to their widespread use in various industries, such as food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and agricultural sectors. Proteases are a group of proteolytic enzymes that break down proteins and peptides into their constituent amino acids by hydrolyzing peptide bonds. Among the family of proteases, alkaline serine proteases have special biocatalytic abilities in both aqueous and organic environments. Their suitable resistance in alkaline environments and...

Stock Price Forecasting Using Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Alizadeh, Parisa (Author) ; Shavandi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This research proposes a novel hybrid method for stock price index forecasting relying on technical analysis, the fundamental analysis of capital market, neural networks technology, and fuzzy logic. The new method shows a good performance comparing complicated and time-consuming forecasting methods. , M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Babaee, Mohammad (Author) ; Sayyadi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis control of wheeled mobile manipulators for cooperative object transportation is investigated. Full dynamic model of a mobile manipulator with a three wheeled mobile base and a three DOF manipulator is derived using Gibbs-Appell method. Input-output linearization technique is used to control individual robots. Transporting the object is divided into two steps, first robots use a decentralized behavior-based method to approach and surround the object. Then virtual structure method is used to control the robots to transport the object cooperatively. Simulation results with three robots handling an object are presented to show the effectiveness of proposed method

Dynamic and Control of Tethered Satellite Systems

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Yousefian, Peyman (Author) ; Salarieh, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this work dynamic behavior of a two body TSS with main satellite as rigid body is studied and effects of tether elasticity and tension on the satellite dynamic are indicated in station keeping phase and circular orbit. Also a simplified modeling is introduced which could be used in nonlinear controller design. Lagrange and extended Lagrange method is used to derive equations of motion. It is shown that longitudinal vibration of tether has small effect on satellite attitude and angular velocity and because of high frequency it can be decoupled from satellite dynamic. In the simplified model, orbital motion is decoupled from equations of TSS and main satellite dynamic. Effect of decoupling...

Analysis of Control of Nonlinear Switched Systems

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Toorani, Amin (Author) ; Zohoor, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Separate analysis of modern systems by continuous or discrete theories is not possible, because they cannot solely express the detailed descriptions of a system. As a result of this, researchers are motivated to study hybrid systems. Specific class of hybrid systems which consists of several continuous subsystems and a rule that specifies how to switch between them, is called a switched system. Recently, many studies have been done on the stability and control of switched systems. In this regard, the goal of present study is presenting applications of switched systems using two control methods. The first application is control of a chemical reactor system with multiple modes. We presented...

Design and Analysis of a Cable Based Robot Similar to a Human Hand

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abyaneh, Soroush (Author) ; Zohoor, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The application of manipulators is becoming more and more popular in objects handling especially when it is desired to have access to remote areas in destructive or hazardous taskspaces. For this purpose, a hand-like mechanism must be designed to be used as an end-effector, which can grasp objects. In this paper a cable driven grasping mechanism has been presented. In the proposed mechanism each finger consists of three phalanxes which are actuated by a single motor. Also, locking and unlocking constraints are used in the mechanism in order to generate an anthropomorphic motion, in which, the order of reaching phalanxes to the object is sequential, in such a way that each phalanx starts...
