    Experimental investigation and probabilistic models for residual mechanical properties of GFRP pultruded profiles exposed to elevated temperatures

    Abstract
    Here, we investigate the influence of elevated temperatures with negligible ambient oxygen on mechanical properties of various embedded glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) profiles, as well as the application of a predictive Bayesian model for predicting these properties. Both the flexural and compressive properties of FRP profiles were investigated through the tests of I-shaped and box-shaped profiles. To determine the impact of low and high elevated temperature, the profiles were exposed to a wide range of temperatures (i.e., 25–550 °C); effects of the exposure time were also investigated.     Abstract
    This study proposes a new metallic yielding damper for seismic applications. First, considering the damper proposed by curadelli in 2009 a simple lead yielding damper was manufactured to determine its maximum allowable axial deformation showing that it cannot tolerate suitable axial deformations. To solve this problem a telescopic damper with curadelli damper’s descriptions was manufactured and tested which increased the last damper’s allowable deformation 100%. Although new damper’s allowable deformation is twofold the old one, it was not enough for seismic applications.     Abstract
    This paper presents the creep behavior of various FRP (GFRP, CFRP, and hybrid) bars in order to investigate the effects of different parameters, including the applied stress levels, bar diameter, and the type of fiber and resin in the creep behavior of FRP bars. The creep strains versus time curves were experimentally obtained for 83 days. Moreover, a statistical study, including analysis of variance (ANOVA) and linear Bayesian regression was conducted to investigate the contribution of the studied parameters.     In this research, the mechanical properties of glass and carbon fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) bars with epoxy resin matrices embedded in concrete were investigated under an extensive range of elevated temperatures (i.e., 25–800 °C). Embedded FRP bars with various bar diameters were studied in order to determine bar diameter influence on the results.     Abstract
    In the present study, metal complexes of 1-amidino-O-alkylureas were designed, synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR spectra, XRD, Mass analyses and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). All synthesized complexes were screen as α-Glucosidase inhibitors. According to the in vitro results, the Cu (II) complexes showed superior potency compared to other tested metal complexes. Particularly, [Cu(L-Me)2](Cl)2 (1b) showed the strongest inhibition against α-Glucosidase with an IC50 value of 2.75 ± 0.3 µM which was comparable to that of acarbose (IC50 = 750 µM). These findings are supported by the ligands and enzyme interactions through molecular docking. © 2021 Elsevier B.V

    In vivo dose-dependent effects of nanoscale graphene oxide (NGO) sheets on reproduction capability of Balb/C mice were investigated. Biodistribution study of the NGO sheets (intravenously injected into male mice at dose of ∼2000 μg/mL or 4 mg/kg of body weight) showed a high graphene uptake in testis. Hence, in vivo effects of the NGO sheets on important characteristics of spermatozoa (including their viability, morphology, kinetics, DNA damage and chromosomal aberration) were evaluated.     Asian red ginseng was used for green reduction of chemically exfoliated graphene oxide (GO) into reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The reduction level and electrical conductivity of the ginseng-rGO sheets were comparable to those of hydrazine-rGO ones. Reduction by ginseng resulted in repairing the sp 2 graphitic structure of the rGO, while hydrazine-rGO showed more defects and/or smaller aromatic domains. The ginseng-rGO sheets presented a better stability against aggregation than the hydrazine-rGO ones in an aqueous suspension.     We present the first public code for the calculation of the astrometric centroid shift occurring during microlensing events. The computation is based on the contour integration scheme and covers single and binary lensing of finite sources with arbitrary limb darkening profiles. This allows for general detailed investigations of the impact of finite source size in astrometric binary microlensing.     In this paper, we study the frost formation and growth at the walls of a duct with uniform wall temperature variation. The simulation is performed for laminar flow regime considering suitable semi-empirical models incorporated with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. The frost growth is considered to be normal to the duct surface. Since the duct aspect ratio is high, we perform our simulations in two-dimensional zones.
