Mixed Matrix Membrane Preparation for Gas Separation
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Soltanieh, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Mousavi, Abbas (Supervisor)
Abstract
This study has concentrated on preparation of mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) in order to improve the separation performance of the neat poly(amide-12-b-ethylene oxide)(Pebax1074) membrane. Pebax1074 and zeolite SAPO-34 were used to fabricate MMM for the first time. Micro-size SAPO-34 was added to polymer matrix up to 35wt% based on polymer weight; even though at this high loading percentage the prepared membranes were not stable enough to be tested for characterization and gas permeation. The obtained results showed more than 30% increment in CO2 permeability, along with slight growth and reduction in N2 and CH4 permeabilities, respectively for 30wt% zeolite content membranes. Permeability...

Abstract
This study assesses the management of reactive power generation to improve the voltage stability margin using modal analysis technique. The simulation results show that after the optimal reactive power re-scheduling, the voltage stability margin of the system is improved and the active/reactive power losses are decreased. Improving the voltage stability margin of power system without adding new VAR (Volt Ampere Reactive) sources and changing the active power dispatch, is the most important advantage of proposed method. © 2009 Asian Network for Scientific Information

Abstract
FGM sheets with component or grain size gradient in their thickness direction provide mechanical and physical gradient properties through ND direction. FGMs are fabricated by various methods including centrifugal casting, powder metallurgy, PVD and CVD,all of which suffer from some shortcomings such as porosity of the products, low rate and high cost of production and restrictions on mass production. In this study, 2 and 4 layered Al matrix FGM sheets containing SiC and Al2O3 powders were fabricated by laminating method of Accumulative Roll Bonding(ARB). Two approaches of stacking were chosen as accumulative coupled roll bonding (ACRB) and (ASRB) for initial roll bonding and subsequent...

Abstract
Silk fibroin (SF) has been broadly applied in wound dressing fabrication because of its proper features for wound healing. In this work, we developed a carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)/gelatin blend film with different concentrations of glycerol, and modified the optimized film with an SF layer through electrospinning process. Tensile strength and cell viability evaluation of blend films demonstrated that the glycerol content of 3% could be suitable as the substrate layer for the two-layer wound dressing. The morphology of the blend film and electrospun nanofibers was obtained from scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). It concluded that...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Haji, Rasoul (Supervisor)
Abstract
Production scheduling is such a key issue that directly influences on the performance of the machines and efficiency of production line. This category of problems is to find simultaneously the lot sizes and their sequence over a finite set of planning periods.
In this Thesis a multi objective production planning and job shop scheduling problem is investigated. The objectives are minimization of the production cost and minimization of production time smoothness in consecutive periods. As the problem is shown to be NP-hard, two multi-objectives genetic algorithms with two approaches in selection of parents and crowding distance index are proposed to solve this problem. Abstract
This paper proposes a new coordinated voltage control scheme to ensure voltage security of power systems. The scheme schedules reactive power injection from VAR sources, including synchronous generators and condensers, capacitor banks, switchable reactors and FACTS devices, to ensure desired loading margin of power systems for a given horizon of time. The problem is treated as voltage security constrained multi-period optimal reactive power flow (VSC-MPORPF). To incorporate scheduling of both continuous and discrete VAR sources, the VSC-MPORPF is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem, and is solved using generalized Benders decomposition (GBD). Multi-period formulation...

Abstract
Voltage stability is the ability of a power system to maintain acceptable voltages at all buses in the system under normal conditions and after being subjected to a disturbance. This paper employs the management of reactive power generation to improve the voltage stability margin (VSM), in the framework of optimal reactive power dispatch (ORD) problem. Scheduling of VAR sources is performed using the concept of relative value of VAR sources. The proposed methodology has been tested on the IEEE 14-bus test system. Simulation results show that after the optimal reactive power scheduling, VSM of the systems is increased considerably. In addition, it is observed that reactive power reserve is...
