In this work, a green synthesis method was designed and practiced to develop bioactive and biocompatible carbon-based nanocomposites biomaterials. ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized in assistance of leaf extracts and added to a composite nanostructure composed of the reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT). The resulting green nanocomposite revealed ability to make π-π interactions, hydrogen bonding, and van der Waals interactions with the doxorubicin (DOX). Abstract
Nanoparticles and nanomaterials in cancer therapy as well as in all biomedical applications have been heavily investigated over the last decade. In this manner, green synthesized nanomaterials have been vastly considered as promising, cost effective, and environmentally friendly components. Also, green synthesis methods could reduce cytotoxicity as well as increase the biocompatibility of the final products. Abstract
Silk fibroin (SF) has been broadly applied in wound dressing fabrication because of its proper features for wound healing. In this work, we developed a carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)/gelatin blend film with different concentrations of glycerol, and modified the optimized film with an SF layer through electrospinning process. Tensile strength and cell viability evaluation of blend films demonstrated that the glycerol content of 3% could be suitable as the substrate layer for the two-layer wound dressing. This paper proposes a new coordinated voltage control scheme to ensure voltage security of power systems. The scheme schedules reactive power injection from VAR sources, including synchronous generators and condensers, capacitor banks, switchable reactors and FACTS devices, to ensure desired loading margin of power systems for a given horizon of time. Voltage stability is the ability of a power system to maintain acceptable voltages at all buses in the system under normal conditions and after being subjected to a disturbance. This paper employs the management of reactive power generation to improve the voltage stability margin (VSM), in the framework of optimal reactive power dispatch (ORD) problem. The present work was aimed to account a green and eco-friendly synthesis of palladium nanoparticles using Rosmarinus officinalis leaves extracts for the first time, therefore, that can be an acceptable replacement for chemical media to improve potential biological properties. The synthesized palladium nanoparticles were fully characterized using FT-IR, XRD, FESEM, TEM and UV/Vis spectroscopy techniques. Searching large image databases is a time consuming process when done manually. Current CBIR methods mostly rely on training data in specific domains. When source and domain of images are unknown, unsupervised methods provide better solutions. In this work, we use a hierarchical clustering scheme to group images in an unknown and large image database.
