    Abstract
    Vibration control is an essential problem in different structure. Smart material can make a structure smart, adaptive and self-controlling so they are effective in active vibration control. Piezoelectric elements can be used as sensors and actuators in flexible structures for sensing and actuating purposes. In this paper we use PZT elements as sensors and actuator to control the vibration of a cantilever beam. Also we study the effect of different types of controller on vibration. © 2009 IEEE

    Abstract
    There are two types of scatterers in a multipath propagation environment: fixed and non-fixed scatterers. Fixed scatterers like buildings, mountains and tree stems do not move, while non-fixed (moving) scatterers like cars, people and tree leaves move from their initial positions. In addition to different movements of the mobile station (MS) that cause different kinds of Doppler fading, movements of non-fixed scatterers are also anticipated to generate other kinds of fading/correlation. This fading changes depend on the type of the propagation environment and the type of movements of local surrounding scatterers.     Interfacial tension of both 36 binary and 6 ternary liquid-liquid systems at 298 K, has been predicted through a reliable thermodynamic model. To properly predict interfacial tension, it is necessary to calculate interfacial area of each constituent of the mixtures.     Abstract
    In this study, the failure analysis of a shaft of a unit, which had been failed during the service, was studied. This shaft was welded to the blades, and their chemical compositions were determined by spectroscopy method. In order to determine the root cause of failure and contribution factors, different investigation methods including visual examination, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscope analysis, and hardness test were carried out. It was concluded that the shaft was failed due to fatigue. The failure was caused by improper welding of blades to the shaft. At the end, in order to prevent or decelerate such failure, some recommended remedies were suggested

    Abstract
    An efficient algorithm for the design optimization of the compressible fluid flow problem through a flexible structure is presented. The methodology has three essential parts: first the behavior of compressible flow in a supersonic diffuser was studied numerically in quasi-one-dimensional form using a flux splitting method. Second, a fully coupled sequential iterative procedure was used to solve the steady state aeroelastic problem of a flexible wall diffuser. Finally, a robust Genetic Algorithm was implemented and used to calculate the optimum shape of the flexible wall diffuser for a prescribed pressure distribution. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd.     Accurate online state of health (SOH) estimation is crucial for the efficient and safe operation of lithium-ion battery packs in electric vehicles and grid-connected energy storage units. This paper proposes a novel data-driven SOH estimation model for lithium-ion batteries based on a new health indicator, namely referenced-based charging time. The proposed model utilizes the referenced-based charging time of partial charging cycles to predict the SOH using a machine learning approach.     Neisseria meningitides is one of the causative agents of the deadly bacterial meningitis disease, and its rapid diagnosis is highly required. In this study, at first, a specific single-chain variable fragment (scFv) antibody-conjugated Au NPs with average size of ~ 20 nm and surface plasmon resonance absorption peak at ~ 530 nm in wavelength were synthesized. Then, the NPs were loaded on nitrocellulose membrane pads for designing a selective lateral flow immunoassay test strip which is sensitive to the factor H protein of Neisseria meningitidis.
