    Performance characteristics of turbocharger turbine and compressor such as efficiency, mass parameter and power are determined experimentally at turbocharger laboratory. Accurate determination of the performance map is significant for manufacturers as well as end users. To this end accurate measurement of test parameters such as temperature, pressure, and speed are required.     Abstract
    An efficient algorithm for the design optimization of the compressible fluid flow problem through a flexible structure is presented. The methodology has three essential parts: first the behavior of compressible flow in a supersonic diffuser was studied numerically in quasi-one-dimensional form using a flux splitting method. Second, a fully coupled sequential iterative procedure was used to solve the steady state aeroelastic problem of a flexible wall diffuser. Finally, a robust Genetic Algorithm was implemented and used to calculate the optimum shape of the flexible wall diffuser for a prescribed pressure distribution. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd.     Over the recent decades, many different ducted turbines have been designed to augment efficiency of wind turbines. The design and number of blades are the most important parameters to optimize efficiency of wind turbines. In this paper, effects of design, number and attack angles of blades on rotational speed are experimentally studied in a duct which increases wind velocity up to 2.46 times numerically and 2.32 times experimentally as great as far-field flow.     Reducing the computational complexity as well as convergence time is the main task of adaptive antenna array processing. This article proposes an improved algorithm for estimating the weights of adaptive array elements based on Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA).     The oxidation behavior of three types of stainless steels, namely AISI 321, AISI 316, and AISI 409, was compared. In all stainless steels, oxide layers were formed and their masses and thicknesses increased with oxidation time. Among them, AISI 409 ferritic stainless steel demonstrated higher oxidation rate. According to the kinetical oxidation behavior of them at elevated temperatures, the oxidation mechanism was determined.     This study investigates the effects of wall heating and skin friction on the characteristics of a compressible turbulent flow in developing and developed regions of a pipe. The numerical solution is performed by finite-element-based finite volume method applied on unstructured grids. A modified κ-ε model with a two-layer equation for the near-wall region and a compressibility correction are used to predict turbulent viscosity. The results show that shear stress in fully developed flow is nearly constant from the centerline up to 75% of the pipe radius, then increases sharply next to the wall, and the ratio of the turbulent viscosity to the molecular one is less than 0.2.     In this study, the feasibility of the synthesis of Fe-TiC-Al 2O3 hybrid nanocomposite via mechanical activation followed by carbothermal reduction was investigated. The raw materials including ilmenite, carbon black and aluminum powder were milled in a high energy planetary ball mill. At different time intervals, samples were taken for characterization. After phase evaluation with XRD, some samples were heat treated in an atmosphere controlled tube furnace.     In this work, a novel local spline smoothing-based approach is proposed in order to despeckling medical ultrasound images. For better comparison, firstly nine conventional statistical spatial filters were applied on the ultrasound images and the results evaluated by quantitative indices of contrast to noise ratio (CNR) and speckle signal to noise ratio (SSNR).     Superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanomaterials are widely used as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents (CAs). These CAs significantly shorten transverse relaxation time (T2) and so decrease the intensity of the T2-weighted MRI (negative contrast imaging). However, the partial-volume effect is known to be one of the problems in negative contrast MRI.
