Abstract
This study aims to investigate the micromixing performance of three basic types of spatial shaped micromixers. New configurations of T, Y, and oriented Y-spatial mixers were designed with change in the angles of the confluence and the outlet channel to achieve the efficient micromixing. These micromixers offer advantages that are not attainable with the typical types of these mixers. Experimental tests were carried out in the laminar flow regime and the mixing efficiency was evaluated using Villermaux/Dushman test reaction. Abstract
This study attempts to investigate a new way for cooling PV cell using natural vapor as coolant. The performance of solar cell was examined on simulated sunlight. The natural vapor encountered backside of PV cell vertically in various distribution and different mass flow rates. Also, the effect of natural vapor temperature in cooling performance was analyzed. Results indicated that the temperature of PV cell drops significantly with increasing natural vapor mass flow rate. In detail, the PV cell temperature decreased about 7 to 16°C when flow rate reaches 1.6 to 5grmin-1. It causes increasing electrical efficiency about 12.12% to 22.9%. In this paper optimization of energy consumption in an electric vehicle is presented. The main idea of this optimization is based on selecting the best gear level in driving the vehicle. Two algorithms for optimization are introduced which are based on fuzzy rules and fuzzy controllers. In first algorithm, fuzzy controller simulates energy consumption in different gear levels, and chooses the optimum gear level. In tins paper, stabilizing the unstable periodic orbits (UPO) in a chaotic fractional order system called Van der Pol is studied. Firstly, a technique for finding unstable periodic orbit in chaotic fractional order systems is stated. Then by applying tins technique to the van der Pol system, unstable periodic orbit of system is found. After that, a method is presented for stabilization of the discovered UPO based on theories stability of the linear integer order and fractional order systems. Abstract
A time series study of the electrical energy generated by wind turbines and solar cells shows that the energy produced has a lot of fluctuations due to the geographic conditions. These ups and downs have caused not only the share of these sources to be marginal, but also they lead to the volatility of electric power plants. By examining several different data from different countries and regions with the frequency of second and minute, we show that different scale behaviors exist at different time intervals and reveal their other random and nonlinear characteristics. We study localization of elastic waves in two-dimensional heterogeneous solids with randomly distributed Lamé coefficients, as well as those with long-range correlations with a power-law correlation function. The Matin-Siggia-Rose method is used, and the one-loop renormalization group (RG) equations for the coupling constants are derived in the limit of long wavelengths. Abstract
The governing equations of optical fiber Raman amplifier with broadband pumps in the steady state are systems of uncountable nonlinear ordinary differential equations (NODE). In this paper, the Moment method is used to reduce the uncountable system of NODE to a system of finite number of NODE. This system of equations is solved numerically. The results are compared with that of the full numerical method. It was shown that the Moment method is a precise and efficient technique for analysis of optical fiber Raman amplifier with broadband pumps. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved
