    Tailoring band gap energies and band alignment types of heterogeneous photocatalysts is critical for their performance in particular applications. Here, by performing calculations in the framework of density functional theory, we study the role of interface in control and tuning band gap and band alignment characteristics of two-dimensional van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures of monolayers of triazine graphitic carbon nitride (tg-C3N4) and Janus tungsten sulfide selenide (WSSe) by varying either S or Se atomic layers.     Abstract
    In this paper optimization of energy consumption in an electric vehicle is presented. The main idea of this optimization is based on selecting the best gear level in driving the vehicle. Two algorithms for optimization are introduced which are based on fuzzy rules and fuzzy controllers. In first algorithm, fuzzy controller simulates energy consumption in different gear levels, and chooses the optimum gear level. While in second method, fuzzy controller detects the optimum gear level by measuring the vehicle's average speed and acceleration.     Abstract
    We study the conductance of disordered graphene superlattices with short-range structural correlations. The system consists of electron- and hole-doped graphenes of various thicknesses, which fluctuate randomly around their mean value. The effect of the randomness on the probability of transmission through the system of various sizes is studied. We show that in a disordered superlattice the quasiparticle that approaches the barrier interface almost perpendicularly transmits through the system.     The turbulent limit of three dimensional Burger equation was studied.     Optothermal properties of noble metal nanoparticles can be used in a wide range of applications. This paper presents the results of a theoretical study on the utilization of laser-induced heating of a gold nanoparticle (GNP) to melt a region of a transparent material with sub-wavelength spatial resolution. The considered system consists of a 10 or 15nm diameter GNP fixed inside a silica substrate. The silica surface is covered with a thick film of the transparent polymeric or crystalline material.     Al2O3-SiC composite ceramics were prepared by pressureless sintering with and without the addition of MgO, TiO2 and Y2O3 as sintering aids. The effects of these compositional variables on final density and hardness were investigated. In the present article at first α-Al2O3 and β-SiC nano powders have been synthesized by sol-gel method separately by using AlCl 3, TEOS and saccharose as precursors. Pressureless sintering was carried out in nitrogen atmosphere at 1600 °C and 1630 °C. The addition of 5 vol.% SiC to Al2O3 hindered densification.     Abstract
    Over the last two decades there have been numerous reports from different seismically active regions of the world that thermal infrared (TIR) anomalies can be identified around the epicentral areas before major earthquakes [e.g. (Tronin et al., 2002)]. The TIR anomalies reportedly appear as early as 14 to 7 days before the seismic events and affect areas as large as 1000s to 100,000s km2 in size. Our case study for detection of TIRs using NOAA-AVHRR data(Band 4) is an Ms = 5.1 earthquake that occurred on 14th October 2004 near Ravar in Kerman province located in Loot and Tabas deserts, southeast-central Iran.     Abstract
    The sol gel method was employed to prepare peroxopolytungstic acid (P-PTA). Palladium chloride salt was dissolved in the sol with different Pd:W molar ratios and coated on Al2O3 substrates by spin coating method. XRD and XPS techniques were used to analyze the crystal structure and chemical composition of the films before and after heat treatment at 500 °C. We observed that Pd can modify the growth kinetic of tungsten trioxide nanoparticles by reducing the crystallite size and as a result can improve hydrogen sensitivity.     Hydrolysis kinetics of the lead silicate glass (LSG) with 40 mol% PbO in 0.5 N HNO3 aqueous acid solution was investigated. The surface morphology and the gel layer thickness were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy (ICP) were used to determine the composition of the gel layer and the aqueous solution, respectively.     Lead silicate glasses (LSGs) have high gamma-ray attenuation but low chemical durability properties. In this work, LSGs with (55.5-68.5 wt%) PbO content containing ZrO2 and TiO2 additions were produced. The chemical corrosion of various produced LSGs in 0.5 N HNO3 aqueous solution and determination of their gamma-ray attenuation coefficients for 60Co and 137Cs sources were investigated.     Abstract
    The electronic transmission and conductance of a gapped graphene superlattice were calculated by means of the transfer-matrix method. The system that we study consists of a sequence of electron-doped graphene as wells and hole-doped graphene as barriers. We show that the transmission probability approaches unity at some critical value of the gap. We also find that there is a domain around the critical gap value for which the conductance of the system attains its maximum value

    In the present article, α-Al2O3 nano powder was synthesized by a simple aqueous sol-gel method by using AlCl3 as precursor. It was shown that the gel calcined at 1000°C, 1100 °Cand 1200 °Cresulted in the formation of a crystalline ?-Al2O3 nano powder. In continue TEOS and saccharose was used to prepare SiO2 xerogels containing carbon nano particles.     High-temperature (1200-1350°C) corrosion of fused-cast ZrO2-Al2O3-SiO2 (ZAS) refractory contacting lead silicate glass melt (LSG) containing 68.5wt% PbO was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), x-ray diffraction (XRD), thickness measurement and Archimedes density measurement.     We study localization of elastic waves in two-dimensional heterogeneous solids with randomly distributed Lamé coefficients, as well as those with long-range correlations with a power-law correlation function. The Matin-Siggia-Rose method is used, and the one-loop renormalization group (RG) equations for the coupling constants are derived in the limit of long wavelengths. The various phases of the coupling constants space, which depend on the value ρ, the exponent that characterizes the power-law correlation function, are determined and described.     Operation in critical conduction mode of flyback converters has many advantages over constant frequency PWM. In this paper, this operation is shortly examined and a precise large signal model for the converter is proposed and verified. The model shows an almost linear behavior in a large range of feedback voltage, Therefore a classical Laplace analysis can be performed.     Abstract
    By detailed analytical treatment of the shock dynamics in the Burgers turbulence with large scale forcing we calculate the velocity structure functions between pairs of points displaced both in time and space. Our analytical treatment verifies the so-called Taylor's frozen-flow hypothesis without relying on any closure and under very general assumptions. We discuss the limitation of the hypothesis and show that it is valid up to time scales smaller than the correlation time scale of temporal velocity correlation function. We support the analytical calculation by performing numerical simulation of the periodically kicked Burgers equation. © 2008 The American Physical Society

    Abstract
    The effect of bias voltages on the statistical properties of rough surfaces has been studied using atomic force microscopy technique and its stochastic analysis. We have characterized the complexity of the height fluctuation of a rough surface by the stochastic parameters such as roughness exponent, level crossing, and drift and diffusion coefficients as a function of the applied bias voltage. It is shown that these statistical as well as microstructural parameters can also explain the macroscopic property of a surface. Furthermore, the tip convolution effect on the stochastic parameters has been examined. © 2005 The American Physical Society

    Abstract
    The joint probability distribution function (PDF) of the height and its gradients is derived for a zero tension d + 1-dimensional Kardar-Parisi-Zliang (KPZ) equation. It is proved that the height's PDF of zero tension KPZ equation shows lack of positivity after a finite time tc. The properties of zero tension KPZ equation and its differences with the case that it possess an infinitesimal surface tension is discussed. Also potential relation between the time scale tc and the singularity time scale tc,v→0 of the KPZ equation with an infinitesimal surface tension is investigated. © 2004 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc
