    Abstract
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) comprise a large number of small sensor nodes scattered across limited geographical areas. The nodes in such networks carry sources of limited and mainly unchangeable energy. Therefore, it is necessary that these networks operate under energy efficient protocols and structures. Energy efficient clustering algorithms have been developed to reduce the networks energy consumption and extend its lifetime. This paper presents an innovative cluster-based communication protocol for WSNs. In order to reduce communication overhead, the authors propose an Energy Aware Clustering Hierarchy Protocol that creates a multi-level hierarchical structure to adequately route and...

    Abstract
The semantic sensor web adds semantic web technologies such as ontology to sensor network. Semantic technologies can help the better management of query and data aggregation of the sensor network. So far, several ontologies have been presented for the semantic presentation of sensor networks concepts. However, applications and end-users require physical entities information rather than technical details and information regarding sensors and sensor network. This paper semantically models physical entities whose information is collected by sensor networks at a level higher than sensors and their observations. Hence, first, an ontology is presented for semantically modelling physical entities...

    Abstract
In a wireless sensor network, with numerous sensor nodes, a huge volume of data is produced. For the massive data generated by sensor networks to be understood by the machine, semantic web technologies such as ontology need to be applied. On the other hand, since the end users intend to access the high-level physical entities information monitored by the sensor network, the applicability of sensor networks can be enhanced through proposing a strategy to extract the data based on entities instead of extracting the raw sensor data. Hence, in this paper firstly, ontology will be presented for physical entities semantic modelling (PESM). Secondly, an appropriate strategy will be offered to...

    Abstract
Today, cloud computing has developed as one of the important emergent technologies in communication and Internet. It offers on demand, pay per use access to infrastructure, platforms, and applications. Due to the increase in its popularity, the huge number of requests need to be handled in an efficient manner. Task scheduling as one of the challenges in the cloud computing supports the requests for assigning a particular resource so as to perform effectively. In the resource management, task scheduling is performed where there is the dependency between tasks. Many approaches and case studies have been developed for the scheduling of these tasks. Up to now, a systematic literature review...

    Abstract
In the last decade, the scale of heterogeneous computing (HC) systems such as heterogeneous cloud computing environments was growing like never before. So network failures are unavoidable in such systems, which affect system reliability. Since the task scheduling algorithm in HC is challenging, we investigate a new reliability-aware task scheduling algorithm (RATSA) in this paper. RATSA is designed to schedule tasks on directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) by using the shuffled frog-leaping algorithm (SFLA) and genetic algorithm (GA) as evolutionary algorithms. The population-based SFLA-GA is applied to optimize makespan in the RATSA as an NP-complete problem. Moreover, the proposed algorithm...

Alternative solution for kinematic interaction problem of soil-structure systems with embedded foundation

    , Article Structural Design of Tall and Special Buildings ; Volume 22, Issue 3 , 2013 , Pages 251-266 ; 15417794 (ISSN) Jahankhah, H ; Ghannad, M. A ; Rahmani, M. T ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
An effective procedure to incorporate kinematic interaction (KI) aspects in seismic analysis of soil-structures systems was presented. In this regard, first, the effect of KI on the structural response was investigated with special focus on the role of rocking component of foundation input motion (FIM). This was performed parametrically for a wide range of selected nondimensional parameters, which well define the introduced simplified soil-structure model. It was observed that ignoring the effect of rocking input motion may introduce errors, which can be on the unsafe side especially for slender structures with large embedment ratios. On the other hand, it was known that introducing the...

    Abstract
Rapid and exponential development of textual data in recent years has yielded to the need for automatic text summarization models which aim to automatically condense a piece of text into a shorter version. Although various unsupervised and machine learning-based approaches have been introduced for text summarization during the last decades, the emergence of deep learning has made remarkable progress in this field. However, deep learning-based text summarization models are still in their early steps of development and their potential has yet to be fully explored. Accordingly, a novel abstractive summarization model is proposed in this paper which utilized the combination of convolutional...

    Abstract
This paper presents a new negotiation model for designing Market- and Behavior-driven Negotiation Agents (MBDNAs) that address computational grid resource allocation problem. To determine the amount of concession for each trading cycle, the MBDNAs are guided by six factors: (1) number of negotiator's trading partners, (2) number of negotiator's competitors, (3) negotiator's time preference, (4) flexibility in negotiator's trading partner's proposal, (5) negotiator's proposal deviation from the average of its trading partners proposals, and (6) previous concession behavior of negotiator's trading partner. In our experiments, we compare grid resource consumer (GRC) of type MBDNAs (respectively...

    Abstract
Providing an efficient resource allocation mechanism is a challenge to computational grid due to large-scale resource sharing and the fact that Grid Resource Owners (GROs) and Grid Resource Consumers (GRCs) may have different goals, policies, and preferences. In a real world market, various economic models exist for setting the price of grid resources, based on supply-and-demand and their value to the consumers. In this paper, we discuss the use of multiagent-based negotiation model for interaction between GROs and GRCs. For realizing this approach, we designed the Market- and Behavior-driven Negotiation Agents (MBDNAs). Negotiation strategies that adopt MBDNAs take into account the...

    , Article Annals of Nuclear Energy ; Volume 49 , 2012 , Pages 170-181 ; 03064549 (ISSN) Rahmani, Y ; Pazirandeh, A ; Ghofrani, M. B ; Sadighi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
In the calculation of the optimum loading pattern for a nuclear reactor, several parameters, including the multiplication factor maximization, the raising of the desired safety threshold during the cycle length and the flattening of the radial power peaking factor should be taken into account. Our evaluation of numerous probable arrangements within the VVER-1000 reactor core (approx. 6 × 10 14 cases) indicated that a direct search of the optimum loading pattern is not feasible. Hence, in this study, the weighting factor method and some constraints on the arrangement of the fuel assemblies were applied so that the above cases were reduced to only 244 possible arrangements. Then, using a...

This paper presents a new model to short-term prediction of air pollution using a new structure is based on the intelligent neural networks. A new structure known as Time Delay Cerebellar Model Arithmetic Computer (TD-CMAC), an extension to the CMAC, it requires fewer memory sizes. The new model is demonstrated and validated with three primary air pollutants known as carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and nitrogen dioxide (NO 2). The simulation results for the half an hour ahead-prediction of the air pollutant data set show that the suggested new model is suitable for our purpose

Developing inherently resilient software against soft-errors based on algorithm level inherent features

    , Article Journal of Electronic Testing: Theory and Applications (JETTA) ; Vol. 30, issue. 2 , 2014 , p. 193-212 Arasteh, B ; Miremadi, S. G ; Rahmani, A. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2014
    Abstract
A potential peculiarity of software systems is that a large number of soft-errors are inherently derated (masked) at the software level. The rate of error-deration may depend on the type of algorithms and data structures used in the software. This paper investigates the effects of the underlying algorithms of programs on the rate of error-deration. Eight different benchmark programs were used in the study; each of them was implemented by four different algorithms, i.e. divide-and-conquer, dynamic, backtracking and branch-and-bound. About 10,000 errors were injected into each program in order to quantify and analyze the error-derating capabilities of different algorithm-designing- techniques....

    Abstract
Three-dimensional orbits in the vicinity of the collinear libration points of the Sun-Earth/Moon barycenter system are currently being considered for use with a number of missions planed for 2000 and beyond. Since such libration point trajectories are, in general, unstable, spacecraft moving on these paths must use some form of trajectory control to remain close to their nominal orbit. In this paper, circular restricted three body problem is reviewed and a numerical method to control spacecrafts on periodic halo orbits around L1 and L2 collinear points of the Sun-Earth/Moon barycenter system is investigated. The control approach is based on the optimal control theory and implements variation...
