Child Effect on Female Employment: Evidence from Iran with a Structural Approach

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hasheminasab, Jalal (Author) ; Keshavarz Haddad, Gholamreza (Supervisor) ; Moeini, Safoura (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This research answers two questions: First, what effect does the increase in the number of children have on women's employment? Second, what is the magnitude of the effect of increasing the number of children on the potential employment rate of Iranian women? To address the first question, we use Heckman's reduced form regression along with a structural model of female labor supply. We use the Simulated Method Moments (SMM) to estimate the structural equations. Our data for the empirical analysis are taken from the Iranian Households’ Income and Expenditures Surveys in urban areas over the years 1990 to 2020. We use the estimated model to measure the potential increase in female employment...

    Abstract
In this paper, the flow behavior of Leonov-Like conformational rheological model, which has root in the generalized Poisson bracket formalism based on the conformation tensor, have been studied in the circular die flow. Prediction of the normal stress differences during the flow of these fluids lets us to follow and calculate relaxation dependent phenomena such as die swell. The model predictions have been compared for the four families of mobility expressions. The Study of the model prediction sensitivity to its mobility term shows that model predictions can cover a wide range of rheological behaviors generally observed for polymer melts and solutions in the circular die flow. , Article Materials and Design ; Volume 26, Issue 1 , 2005 , Pages 89-93 ; 02613069 (ISSN) Ramazani, A ; Mousavi, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2005
    Abstract
Impact and tensile strength of polystyrene and nylon 6 samples, which have been produced by injection molding before and after annealing in different conditions are obtained. Polystyrene samples that are heated on vacuum conditions can deform highly even in temperatures much less than polystyrene glass temperature. This phenomenon is reduced significantly by heating samples to annealing temperature in atmospheric pressure and then removing air from sample environment in constant temperature. Deformation problems for nylon were not so important but due to high temperature implied for annealing of nylon parts, some color change due to oxidative degradation are observed. So for nylon parts a...

    Abstract
This paper has described a method to obtain the molecular weight distribution (MWD) of polymeric materials from their rheological data. The method has been developed for linear polymers with log normal molecular weight distribution. The rheological data required to obtain the molecular weight distribution are the shear storage modulus,G' (ω), and shear loss modulus,G' (ω) , extending from the terminal zone to the plateau region. For determining the molecular weight average, the method uses the relationship between stress moduli and relaxation spectrums, with the equation that connects dynamic rheological data with molecular weight distribution, and so it is not necessary to achieve the...

Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Flow behavior of Nanofield Viscoelastic Fluids in Contraction Flow

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Behrang, Arash (Author) ; Ramazani Saatatabadi, Ahmad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this work, the viscoelastic fluids flow and their short fiber suspensions has been modeled in contraction geometry using conformation models, these models predict behavior of polymeric chains in contraction geometry. Prediction of viscoelastic fluids flow through a contraction is very important, especially in polymer processing where a polymer melt in barrel of an extruder is going to pass through a narrow die. We expect to see an eddy in each corner of barrel. The result has shown that increasing of De number enhances the eddy magnitude; also with making acute angle, we see decreasing of eddy magnitude. Normal stresses and velocity were investigated in contraction and their results had...

    Abstract
This paper discusses the identification process of engine dynamics and presents derived transfer function models including; thrust, shaft speed, compressor exit pressure and turbine exit temperature in relation to the fuel flow. Model identification approach, presented in this paper, is the first to consider frequency-sweep signals to excite dynamics, as well as to utilise windowing and smoothing techniques to reduce random errors in the spectral estimates. Here, frequency sweep provides a fairly uniform spectral excitation and chirp-z transform warrants the exact determination of the frequency responses that are robust to the uncertainties. The identified models are also validated with the...

A fuzzy traffic assignment algorithm based on driver perceived travel time of network links

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 18, Issue 2 A , 2011 , Pages 190-197 ; 10263098 (ISSN) Ramazani, H ; Shafahi, Y ; Seyedabrishami, S. E ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
Traffic assignment is a step of travel demand estimation. Given a trip origin-destination demand matrix, this step determines traffic flow in each link, according to assumptions based on the behavior of drivers. Conventional assignment algorithms, which are mostly based on the Wardrop first principle of user equilibrium, assume that all drivers choose the shortest path to the destination, based on the same travel time computed by travel time functions. However, in reality, driver perception of travel time varies for a specific route. This paper presents a traffic assignment algorithm which assumes that driver perception of travel time affects route choices. Fuzzy set theory is used to define...

    , Article Polymer Composites ; Volume 31, Issue 7 , August , 2010 , Pages 1150-1155 ; 02728397 (ISSN) Ramazani, A. S. A ; Najafi, N. C ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
A model for prediction the stress-strain behavior of particulate composite over wide ranges of filler concentration and composite deformation has been developed through combination of Anderson's and Yilmizer's model. The constitutive equations are extracted from first law of thermodynamic and nonlinear dilatational effects which are produced by filler-matrix debonding process. In addition to nonlinear behavior that has been resulted by filler-matrix debonding and was presented by Yilmizer, the formation and growing of void or cavitations has been also introduced in this model, whereas Anderson's model, most important reason for deviation of linear behavior is filler-matrix debonding and has...

A shortest path problem in an urban transportation network based on driver perceived travel time

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 17, Issue 4 A , August , 2010 , Pages 285-296 ; 10263098 (ISSN) Ramazani, H ; Shafahi, Y ; Seyedabrishami, S. E ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
This paper proposes a method to solve shortest path problems in route choice processes when each link's travel time is a fuzzy number, called the Perceived Travel Time (PTT). The PTT is a subjective travel time perceived by a driver. The algorithm solves the fuzzy shortest path problem (FSPA) for drivers in the presence of uncertainty regarding route travel time. For congested networks, the method is able to find the shortest path in terms of perceived travel time and degree of saturation (congestion) along routes at the same time. The FSPA can be used to support the fuzzification of traffic assignment algorithms. The applicability of the resulting FSPA for the traffic assignment was tested...
