Comparative Material Waste Analysis in Residential Construction Projects
(Cost Plus and Lump Sum Contracts)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaee, Mojtaba (Author) ; Mortaheb, Mohammad Mehdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Type and terms of payment is one of the most important fundamentals of any construction project contract. Suitable contract type is selected based on available financial options, payment systems, project schedule and other uncertainties of project environment. Commonly in Iran; private residential construction projects are executed using cost plus or lump sum contracts. Based on project’s contract type, costs of materials’ waste are to be borne by different parties. For example in cost plus contracts, the costs of materials as well as wastes are paid by owner while in lump sum contract this cost is paid by contractor. Considering limited budget of construction projects, materials’ waste...

A Theoretic Analysis of Energy Constrained Systems: Energy Transfering and Harvesting Systems

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaee, Milad (Author) ; Aref, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Energy Harvesting has been appeared as an approach in order to make the green communications possible. In Energy Harvesting systems, nodes extract energy from the nature to extend their lifetimes. The harvested energy can also be used for the purpose of communication and specially for the transmission process. Compared to the conventional batterypowered systems, the Energy Harvesting systems have access to an unbounded source of energy (like vibration absorption devices, water mills, wind turbines, microbial fuel cells, solar cells, thermo-electric generators, piezoelectric cells, etc). However, the diffused nature of this energy makes it difficult to be used for communication. In this work,...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaee Ahvanouee, Sina (Author) ; Memarian, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Novel Dirac Leaky Wave Antennas (DLWAs) based on Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) are presented in this thesis, for millimeter wave frequencies. These DLWAs provide interesting features such as radiating through broadside, beam scanning and ease in fabrication that are well suited for emerging fifth generation (5G) and IoT applications. In this thesis, it is shown that a Dirac photonic crystal can be realized in SIW technology composed of air columns inside a host SIW waveguide, exhibiting a closed bandgap and linear dispersion around broadside. Phase and attenuation constants are controlled to obtain directive beam and scanning in a wide range of angles (from -30˚ to 20˚). This DLWA...

    Abstract
This existing research has been conducted to reach quick evaluation instructions to pipe earthquake damages in the piping systems inside the industrial complexes. In the old complexes of such kinds there are cases where field inspections and quality evaluations are urgently required subject to peculiar conditions affecting each piping system inside the units and in certain cases subject to lack of access to the as built-drawings. However, so far any definite instruction hasn’t been available for a quick evaluation of likely damages in piping system: all because of various pipe types, complexity of pipes geometry, different temperatures and pressures in different sections. In this research...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaee, Mohammad (Author) ; Kazemini, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Rashidi, Ali Morad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Selective oxidation of H2S to elemental sulfur in a fixed bed reactor over seven nanocatalysts has been investigated and compared to commercial claus catalyst. Among them, Al2O3-supported sodium oxide nanocatalyst prepared with wet chemical technique and Al2O3 nanocatalyst prepared with spray pyrolysis method were the most active catalysts for selective oxidation of H2S to elemental sulfur. The remaining nanocatalysts were deactivated, mainly due to the interaction with H2S and conversion into sulfides. For synthesis of Al2O3 with spray pyrolysis method we use statistical design of experiments (box-behnken design) in order to screen the effects of significant synthesizing parameters

Multi-Camera Action Recognition with Manifold Learning

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaee Taghiabadi, Mohammad Mehdi (Author) ; Karbalaee Aghajan, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Human action recognition is one of the most attended topics in computer vision and robotics. One of the flavors of this problem relates to the situation in which the task of action recognition is carried out by data from several cameras. Different approaches have been proposed for combining information. Various reduction methods have been introduced to decrease the processing load. All of the methods in this particular field of study can be divided into two linear and non-linear methods. In the linear methods, we don’t pay attention to the non-linear structure of the data, and these kind of approaches are not reliable. Furthermore, combining different actions data is done before the dimension...

    Abstract
Low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) with low-noise performance are critical components in communication systems. However, reaching a high level of performance is difficult. This study introduces a LNA for radio frequency front-end receivers with a frequency range of 6–12 GHz. The planned LNA contains a two-stage high-electron-mobility transistor cascade amplifier with a minimum measured noise figure of 0.8 dB and a peak gain of 25 dB at room temperature. The proposed LNA is based on a gallium arsenide field-effect transistor transistor (CE3512K2) because of its good low-noise performance at microwave frequency bands. The measured results demonstrate that the proposed LNA is perfectly matched over...

    Elsevier B.V  2019
    Abstract
Porous carbon template decorated with mixed transition metals/metal oxides with tunable architecture is becoming increasingly important and attractive as a kind of novel electrode materials. In this way, mixed-metallic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) provide an opportunity for fabrication of homogeneous mixed metals/metal oxides distribution in the porous carbon frame without any carbon precursor additive. Also, structures, dimensions and electrochemical performance of MOFs can be readily manipulated by simply tuning the metals molar ratio. In this study, we demonstrate the design and fabrication of petal-like NiCo/NiO-CoO metal/metal oxides with a rational composition embedded in 3D...

    , Article 5th International Conference on Millimeter-Wave and Terahertz Technologies, MMWaTT 2018, 18 December 2018 through 20 December 2018 ; Volume 2018-December , 2019 , Pages 1-5 ; 21570965 (ISSN); 9781538677179 (ISBN) Rezaee, S ; Memarian, M ; Sharif University of Technology
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2019
    Abstract
Dirac leaky-wave antennas (DLWAs) are derived from photonic crystals exhibiting Dirac cone dispersion around their Γ-point. DLWAs provide high directive beams and continuous frequency beam scanning, non-fluctuating leakage constant and real non-zero Bloch impedance at and around broadside, due to the closed and linear Dirac dispersion relation around broadside. These features, along with their inherent compatibility for higher frequency designs (larger unit cells compared to metamaterials), make DLWAs an ideal candidate for the upper microwave, mm-wave and terahertz frequencies, and for applications such as radar, 5G, spectroscopy, etc. In this review, we cover the recent developments on...

    Royal Society of Chemistry  2020
    Abstract
Over the last few years, substantial efforts have been made to develop earth-abundant bi-functional catalysts for urea oxidation and energy-saving electrolytic hydrogen production due to their low cost and the potential to replace traditional noble-metal-based catalysts. Nevertheless, finding a straightforward and effective route to prepare efficient catalysts with unique structural features and optimal supports still is a big challenge. Among the various candidates, metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived materials show great advantages as new kinds of active non-precious catalysts. On the other hand, the controllable integration of MOFs and carbon-based nanomaterials leads to further...

Analytical study of open-stopband suppression in leaky-wave antennas

    , Article IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters ; Volume 19, Issue 2 , 2020 , Pages 363-367 Rezaee, S ; Memarian, M ; Sharif University of Technology
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2020
    Abstract
In the majority of leaky-wave antennas (LWAs), the lack of broadside radiation is due to the existence of an open-stopband (OSB) at broadside. In this letter, we present a study on the OSB suppression in LWAs. In particular, we start from a simple unit cell comprising a planar waveguide having alternating open and short sidewalls. The analytical and simulated band structures testify consistently that OSB suppression can indeed be realized by proper design, analytically studied using mode-matching, and further supported by full-wave simulations. An LWA is then implemented using the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology, which provides interesting features such as a high directive...

    Abstract
Exploring bi-functional electrocatalysts with excellent activity, good durability, and cost-effectiveness for electrochemical hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER) in the same electrolyte is a critical step towards a sustainable hydrogen economy. Three main features such as high density of active sites, improved charge transfer, and optimized electronic configuration have positive effects on the electrocatalyst activity. In this context, understanding structure–composition–property relationships and catalyst activity is very important and highly desirable. Herein, for the first time, we present the design and fabrication of novel MOF-derived ultra-small Ru/RuO2 nanoparticles...

    , Article 29th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering, ICEE 2021, 18 May 2021 through 20 May 2021 ; 2021 , Pages 891-894 ; 9781665433655 (ISBN) Rezaee, S ; Memarian, M ; Sharif University of Technology
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2021
    Abstract
In this paper, a wideband coupled-resonator microstrip bandpass filter is designed and experimentally demonstrated in the S-Band. The filter is comprised of quarter-wavelength hair-pin resonators, reducing resonator and filter footprint compared to conventional hairpin designs. Additionally, it is considerably forgiving to fabrication tolerances and yields remarkably close matched results between theory, simulation, and measured results. One demonstration presented has minimal insertion loss ${(< 1{dB})}$ for the entire wide bandwidth of 3.4 GHz to 4.2 GHz. Wider bandwidths up to 60% are also observed using the design. The proposed filter is an attractive solution when space is a critical...

Driver’s Behavior at Intersection with Yield Control in Minor Road

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaee, Vahid (Author) ; Vaziri, Manouchehr (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Compared to systematically signalized intersections, in the absence of any systematic instruction or signalization at unsignalized-prioritized intersections and due to lower levels of control, driver performance strongly steps in as a decisive factor of intersection traffic and geometric design. Therefore, the study of driver behavior at these intersections appears necessary. This thesis aims to study driver behavior at four prioritized intersections where the minor stream has to yield right of way to the main stream in the city of Mashhad, Iran. Following extraction of raw statistical data from extensive filming, the initial database was constructed consisting of 29 variables. Based on the...

    On The Weil Conjectures

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaee, Fatemeh (Author) ; Jafari, Amir (Supervisor)
    Abstract
” The story of the "Weil conjectures" is a marvelous example of mathematical imagination, and one of the most striking instances exhibiting the fundamental unity of mathematics.”In 1949,Andre Weil stated some conjectures on the zeta function of Algebraic varieties over finite fields .These conjectures were analogue of the properties of Riemann zeta function ,in particular Riemann hypothesis. In fact ,Weil built a bridge between Diophantine structure on varieties over finite fields (Counting of rational points on varieties) and cohomological structure of them over the field of complex numbers(topology of variety). In this thesis, first we state Weil’s motivations for these conjectures and state...

Congestion Pricing with Consideration of Long‐Term Effects

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaee, Hojjat (Author) ; Poorzahedy, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Congestion is the inseparable part of everyday life in large transportation networks. Expansion of road networks especially in downtown area is next to impossible and it is resulting multiplicative congestion problems. Congestion imposes private and public costs. Therefore, restricting policies on road use through cordon-based or area-based pricing is proposed to reduce the negative impacts of traffic, travel demand management and optimal use of transportation systems. This would produce better resource allocation through transportation network optimization. Implementation of congestion pricing policies induces short-term and long-term effects. In this thesis, it is attempted to determine...
