Preparation and Structureproperties Relationship in Rubber Toughened PA6 Reinforced with Nanodiamond

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Roosta, Reza (Author) ; Shojaei, Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Polyamide6 has many engineering applications due to its physical, mechanical and processability properties. However, its low impact resistance limits the use of polyamide6. One of the common ways to overcome this problem and extend the range of polyamide6 application is its elasticity with elastomeric materials, which reduces the strength and modulus (tensile and flexure) in comparision with neat polyamide6. To overcome this limitation, various reinforcements, often fiber or particle-shaped, are used. Today, with the development of nanoparticles, this effort is being made to use nanoparticles, especially carbon nanoparticles with unique properties. Recent research has shown that the addition...

Investigating on Filtration of Solid Particles in Culture Media after Fermentation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Maleki, Maziar (Author) ; Roosta Azad, Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In biotechnology processes, in addition of culture media there is a solid phase which dispensed across the system. In most of bioprocesses, first operational unit for downstream treatment is the separation of this particles from fermentation liquor. In contrast with other categories like inorganic chemistry, solid particles in fermentation liquor (which the main part of it is biomass itself) have complicated physical & rheological properties. For example, all of biomass species are hydrophilic and sometimes form colloidal solutions. With this perspective, separation of solid phase from fermentation liquor is a hard challenge in this kind of processes. In this research, with regard of great...

    , Article 9th International Symposium on Numerical Models in Geomechanics, NUMOG 2004, 25 August 2004 through 27 August 2004 ; 2004 , Pages 157-164 ; 9789058096364 (ISBN) Roosta, R. M ; Karstunen, M ; Koskinen, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    CRC Press/Balkema  2004
    Abstract
Soft clays found in situ are often K0-consolidated. Due to this anisotropic consolidation history, the yield points identified from triaxial tests are not symmetric around the hydrostatic axis. In this paper the anisotropic consolidation of soft clay samples, with a wide range on friction angles, is simulated with a new constitutive model, called GUM, embedded in the multilaminate framework. The samples are subsequently reloaded along different stress paths in the p′-q-space, both in triaxial compression and triaxial extension. The global yield points predicted by the GUM model are compared with the yield surface predicted by the S-CLAY1 model and experimental data on reconstituted soft...

Synthesis of Graphene Oxide and Study of its Fluorescence Properties

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Akbari, Ebrahim (Author) ; Akhavan, Omid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Graphene oxide is a single sheet of Carbon atoms which has been arranged on a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice. Functional groups such as epoxy, carboxyl and carbonyl are located on basal plane and at the edges of graphene oxide and they localize electrons on the surface of graphene oxide and open band gap in its band structure. Pure graphene has zero band gap, so existence of fluorescence properties is unlikely; but graphene oxide has fluorescence properties due to band gap in its band structure. Fluorescence properties of graphene have been used in live cell imaging and drug delivery, so study and increasing of fluorescence properties is significantly important. The purpose of this...
