Abstract
Metallic multilayer composites provide remarkable mechanical, electrical and magnetic properties. These kinds of composites are recently processed by severe plastic deformation methods. Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) is one of the SPD processes in which accumulation of strain by repeating cycles, leads to the ultra fine grains structures. The goal of this research is manufacturing of Al/AZ31 composite and investigating the relation between the rolling process parameters and the mechanical and physical properties of the final sheet. The initial composite was carried out by cladding of 1mm thick AZ31 sheet in between two commercially pure aluminum sheets with the same thickness (57%...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Akbari, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Mixed-model production Lines manufacture or assemble more than one product with similar production characteristics or different models of a product on the same line. This level of flexibility in commodities is very important to face diverse customers' expectations. In this article, U-shaped, mixed-model, synchronous lines with stochastic task times are discussed in a cost-oriented perspective. In U-shaped, mixed-model, Simultaneous consideration of line balancing and model sequencing is essential because different models require different tasks with different task times and the sequence of models determine the models which is produced in each station in each cycle. This sequence affects the...
Control of Fractional Order Systems
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Shahrokhi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis addresses design of an adaptive tracking control of input-quantized strict-feedback fractional-order nonlinear systems with unknown control directions. The control design is achieved by using a hysteretic quantizer to avoid chattering. The main advantages of the proposed controller are: the fractional order is available for both commensurate and non-commensurate cases, the¬¬ controller design does not depend on the quantization parameters and some restrictive assumptions are relaxed. Additionally only one adaptive law has been used for the unknown control directions which leads to reduction of computational load. By utilizing the backstepping approach and based on the frequency...

Abstract
In this paper, we proposed a method based on time-frequency dependent features extracted from Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) and physiological feature such as the number of premature beats (PBs) to predict the onset of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation (PAF) by using electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. To extract IMFs, we used Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). In order to predict PAF, we used variance of IMFs of signals, the area under the absolute of IMF curves and the number of PBs, since increasing of all of these parameters are a clear sign of PAF occurrence. We used clinical database which was provided for the 2001 Computer in Cardiology Challenge (CinC). The test set of this database...
Prediction of Heart Arrhythmias Related to Pramature Beats
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Shamsollahi, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
About 42 percent of annual mortality in all around the world is originated from cardiovascular arrhythmias and diseases. One of these arrhythmias is atrial fibrillation whose onset and persistence can produce clot and consequently cause stroke. The basis of our research are upon this idea that dangerous heart arrhythmias do not happen abruptly and there always are some background signs before occurrence of them. In our approach to predict the onset of atrial fibrillation, by analyzing ECG signal in order to extract distinguishing features, we want to classify signals which will terminate Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation (PAF) from signals which won’t end with PAF. In this thesis, we propose...

Abstract
In this work, a novel local spline smoothing-based approach is proposed in order to despeckling medical ultrasound images. For better comparison, firstly nine conventional statistical spatial filters were applied on the ultrasound images and the results evaluated by quantitative indices of contrast to noise ratio (CNR) and speckle signal to noise ratio (SSNR). Secondly, one-dimensional cubic spline smoothing (1DCSS) function was applied on the whole speckled image as the first proposed approach. Finally, as the second proposed approach, 1DCSS was applied locally on the sliding windows of the ultrasound image then conventional statistical spatial filters were applied. The results indicate...

Abstract
This research is dedicated to investigating the dynamics identification and periodic control of a mono-wing aerial vehicle. The study employs well-established system identification strategies in both time and frequency domains to extract equivalent linear models. By exciting the system dynamics with a frequency sweep signal, non-parametric and parametric models are derived for each control channel, namely the flap and thrust. Furthermore, a comprehensive nonlinear simulation model is developed to facilitate trade study and design optimization. The identified models undergo careful validation using a two-square wave input signal, demonstrating their accuracy through a comparison with flight...
Genco's Bidding Strategy in Day-Ahead Energy Market Considering Demand Response
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ehsan, Mehdi (Supervisor)
Abstract
Since 1980s the electricity market has been gradually evolving from a monopoly market into a liberalized one for encouraging competition and improving efficiency. This brings the opportunity for generation companies (Gencos) to make more profits while embracing more risks of not being dispatched. Therefore, it has become a core interest for the Gencos to develop optimal bidding strategies to maximize the profits and minimize the risks while participating in such a competitive market. Error of determining day-ahead electricity price is one of the sources of the risk. Energy price has a high impact on bidding strategy optimization process. So it should be determined with low error which is not...

Abstract
Losses are unavoidable in any parts of power systems, from generation to receiving nodes and occur in transmission and distribution networks. However, the main loss component is produced in distribution networks. Energy losses in distribution networks are about 70% of technological transport energy losses.
Energy losses in distribution networks are an important indicator for the planning and operation of the system. A fast, reliable and accurate energy loss calculation method is required for optimal operation of the distribution networks.
Energy loss depends on network's operating conditions. Loads values and loads factors are time variables; therefore, methods based on probability...
