Abstract
The product distribution of methanol to hydrocarbons conversion over SAPO-34 and ZSM-5 catalysts was studied using thermodynamic equilibrium and Anderson-Schulz-Flory (ASF) distributions. The equilibrium compositions were calculated using constrained Gibbs free energy minimization. The effect of catalyst type was considered by setting upper limits to product carbon number due to shape selectivity according to zeotype catalyst channel size; that is, n5 for SAPO-34 but n6 for aliphatic and n10 for aromatic compounds over H-ZSM-5 catalyst. Abstract
The liquid-phase dehydration of 1,4-butanediol to tetrahydrofuran was investigated over various materials including synthetic zeolites, namely, ZSM-5, Y, Mordenite, Ferrierite, and Beta as well as silica and alumina. The key characters investigated were the Si/Al ratio and cation exchange. The results showed that the ZSM-5 zeolite exchanged with NH4+ exhibited the highest activity in dehydration of 1,4-butanediol. In all tests, nearly 100% selectivity to tetrahydrofuran was observed. Alkylates (highly branched paraffinic hydrocarbons) are ideal substitutes because of their high octane numbers, and environmental friendly characters. Abstract
In the present work, Tetrahydrofuran was produced from 1,4-butanediol by catalytically dehydration of 1,4-butanediol in contact with a catalyst. Material used as catalyst were Synthesized and natural zeolites as well as alumina and silica. Synthesized zeolites were investigated in different aspect such as pore size, cation and Si/Al ratio. Results indicated that with increasing the Si/Al ratio, the activity of the zeolite used for 1, 4-butanediol dehydration step was reduced. Abstract
In the absence of powerful rigorous models, in this research a simple but practical method for calculating the temperature and residence time and carbon black yield in oil-furnace reactors is proposed. For this purpose an empirical formula of the form CXHY is assumed for the carbon black feedstock based on typical feedstock used in this industry. Based on the prevailing reactor conditions, thermodynamic considerations and available outlet tail gas from the reactor, a few representative reactions are considered to describe the entire reaction network. Abstract
The effect of oxygenate modifiers on the performance of PtSnγAl 2O3 catalyst in dehydrogenation of propane was studied. Dehydrogenation reaction was carried out in a fixed-bed quartz reactor in the temperature range of 575620 °C. Two types of oxygenate modifiers, namely water and methanol, were added to the feed. The optimum amounts of water for reaction temperatures of 575, 600 and 620 °C were 84, 120 and 140 ppm, respectively. The optimum amounts of methanol for the same reaction temperatures were 9.9, 25 and 50 ppm, respectively. Abstract
Several SAPO-34 samples with different Si/Al ratio (0.05-0.5) of synthesis gel were prepared hydrothermally at crystallization temperature of 190-215 °C. The products were characterized by XRD, SEM/EDX, NH3-TPD, FT-IR and nitrogen adsorption techniques. EDX data showed a deviation of elemental composition of products with respect to the Al, Si, and P from that of the gel mixture, but the increasing trend of Si/Al ratio of the products was confirmed. According to XRD and SEM results, crystallinity of samples increased with Si/Al ratio up to the low to medium range of ca. 0.13. Low silicon content SAPO-34 was successfully synthesized using the conventional hydrothermal crystallization in the static condition. Effects of different synthesis conditions including crystallization temperature and the silicon source were investigated through X-ray diffraction patterns. It was concluded that the silicon source had a significant effect on silicon incorporation into the alumino-phosphate building blocks in the course of crystallization. The deactivation of solid acid catalysts in liquid-phase alkylation of isobutane with butenes was investigated. The role of pore mouth plugging, in particular, was studied and it was found that it had a significant effect on the deactivation behavior. Simple explicit correlations were developed for catalyst lifetime in a CSTR, both in terms of time-on-stream and butene turnover per catalyst weight. The differential form of the decay law for a solid acid catalyst in liquid-phase alkylation of isobutane with butenes was investigated. A pseudo-first order expression for the intrinsic rate of the main reaction and a pseudo-second order one for the poisoning reaction were assumed. The role of intraparticle diffusion on the apparent deactivation behavior was studied through the Shell Progressive Model (SPM), as the overall reaction is severely diffusion limited. Abstract
The effects of different nano-SiO2 contents on the rheological properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) solution and mechanical, thermal, structural, and piezoelectric properties of composite nanofibers were investigated. Results showed an increase in fiber diameter (∼125 to 350 nm) and ∼450% increase in tensile strength as the content of nano-SiO2 particles increased.
